This no interview, no date, no information thing is killing me! FWIW, they still hadnt updated my status page about my transcripts coming in, but I called Friday and they took care of that. I wish they would give just a little feedback! Has anyone heard anything from them at all (IS or OOS?). Last year I believe they notified acceptances on Feb 25th or so, but this year they said that the supplemental was due in sooner than previous years. Does that mean we will get an answer sooner or just that they have given themselves more reviewing time...I know you guys dont necessarily know the answers either, so I guess Im really just venting. Anyone who applied in previous years know about when rejections came? Same time or was it earlier or do they have a steady stream of rejections as they narrow it down?

Why do they have to torture us like this LOL.

Madison usually sends out letters in early March (I got mine the 8th last year), a few OOS applicants got phone calls before that, which freaked me out a little. Rejections are sent out at the same time. Good luck :luck:

I got an email from them last week thanking me for applying and letting me know that they were going to be meeting to discuss applications in the next month, and that decisions would be mailed out in early March. Did you not get the same email?

How do I find the status page? I just have the one for my supplemental application.

OMG thanks for saying something because I did find this email but in my junk folder betweek the enlargement offers and the online pharmacy offers. I might have never seen it otherwise!

I was just looking on the status page with the supplemental. It has everything on there about transcripts received, LORs received, etc. I had 2 transcripts under my maiden name and they told me not to worry that they had them, but it still said not received on that page, so I called back and they fixed it for me. Lynn Maki over there is REALLY nice.

Okay. Despite my interview at MN, I have to admit, WI is my first choice (PS: I'm in state). I really don't like that they'll just randomly let us know. I feel as if I should call and ask if they would like any more info or anything ... and, to be honest, this being my IS application, a little "heads-up" would be amazingly appreciated. Glad to know others out there are frustrated by WI. But, I will agree, their office personnel ARE very nice.

An update from Wisconsin:
decisions postmarked by March 3rd
Open house for admitted students March 28, 2008 from 12:00-5:00pm

Funny story, I just emailed Lynn Maki something for my file today (silly thing clarifying freshman comp.) and asked about decision timeline. She told me the same thing (today, at 4:53pm) that early march is the timing.

Just got an email (6:40pm) with new info. I thought it was funny she didn't just tell me in her reply. Anyway, here's a copy, in case someone missed the email:

This message is to provide you with an update on the progress of the admission
decisions at the University of Wisconsin, School of Veterinary Medicine. Our
admissions committee is in the process of selecting the class and the admission
letters should be mailed out by March 3, 2008. We wanted to notify everyone of the
progress of our review and to inform you that our Open House for the invited
applicants will be held on March 28, 2008 from 12:00-5:00pm.

Now hopefully I will have to plan a trip back to WI 🙂

Got the same email. It would be nice to be back in the midwest/Great Lakes area plus my awesome vet (for my pets) went there, but I'm not holding my breath - heard it's tough for OOS, unless you've got application mojo like Hoodle does 😀 Good luck all!

I don't know about the mojo... (thanks sheltergirl!) but Wisconsin is such a cool school... I really hope for good luck for us all! and I wish they notified sooner! 😀

So this is an odd post: I'm an in-state applicant to Wi (never would have guessed, huh?) but am seriously loving what I hear about Mn. The problem is WI doesn't do much for press, and the whole no-interview thing makes it difficult to have questions answered (although I'm a bit appeased by the open house). Oh,how things have changed in a short week or two (note earlier post).

So my question is this: for everyone who LOVES UW ... why? Is there something in particular that I don't know about? Or am I going to have to go with my gut (assuming I get in both places)?

Way to make me second-guess myself application system!! Opinions are appreciated!

Who doesn't love WI!? 😍Personally, I love the IS tuition and the fact that it's close to family. But seriously, everyone is super supportive and helpful. There's tons of opportunities to get involved with clubs, so when you aren't studying, you certainly won't be bored.

Not really sure what else to tell you. What are you specifically interested in?

The open house is a great time to ask any questions that you have and to talk with current students, so I def. hope you all come! Feel free to pm me too if you have any questions.

Madison is the bomb! It is like a little oasis of culture in the land of yader-hey. I went to Lawrence and Appleton was no Madison. I don't mean to trash the rest of WI, people were so nice. But not cool like Madison.

I am also interested in food animal, and think that WI may have a stronger program than MN, but I could be wrong. I know that Wis LA people spend a lot of time at all the local dairy farms, and MN seems to emphasize their equine and bird programs more, I am looking forward to the activities at MN to see what they have to offer. I don't think I have much chance though at WI as an OOS, but everyone should apply for one "No way I can get in" school.

It's so funny to me that WI is your no way, because for me, it's practically my only way 🙂 Unless MN pulls through.

Yes, I have noticed that for LA, WI does seem to have a better program. And I do know that they are working on debt foregivness for LA vets there (through the state, b/c we need some!) so that might help in your favor this year? However, as a (pretty strictly) SA girl, who might want to dabble in exotics (Specifically the big cats and things you would see in a zoo), the schools seem reasonably similar.

And I grew up in Madison, and love love love it. Don't think I don't love my state, as I really do. However, that being said, the twin cities are pretty cool too.

As a tangential sidenote that I just thought of:

Does anyone know WI IS application numbers for this year? I suppose I could email Lynn ... just like to statistically know my competition. 🙂

It's the same for me, it's practically impossible to get in VA-MD OOS but it is my best chance by far to get in vet school. We are both lucky to have good schools as our in-state.

The Twin Cities are pretty cool too, East Coast liberal that I am, both Madison and the Twin Cities are acceptable

I did the majority of my undergrad work at UW. The campus is phenomenal (especially for those 2 weeks- 1 at the start of school and one right at the end- where the weather is beautiful and you can run the Lakeshore Path, go to the farmer's market, and have ice cream by the lake). It is an all-around good school and in a great city (unlike some places). Given the number of OOS they accept I'm not holding my breath, but I wouldn't mind being back there (6 years later... how time flies!). 🙂

I just called Madison earlier today to clarify about their March 3rd deadline... I was concerned that, if they weren't getting letters into the mail until the 3rd and the letters didn't arrive until the 8th or so... with the info session on the 28th... that if OOS heard good news, they'd also being paying massive amounts for airfare getting down to the wire. They told me on the phone that they would try to have things out the last week in February, and if we hadn't heard by the 3rd or shortly after, we could call.

I'm making this sound more organized than it was - basically the guy just told me that they wanted letters out in feb., and if the planes were making me nervous, to call to get the decision over the phone given snail-mail slowness.

Now I'm afraid we're all going to deluge the poor office 🙁

I kinda wish I hadn't just read that, as I'll now be calling on the 25th "just to see". And they will hate us ... wonder if their decisions are legally binding 🙂 ... I did see that some OOS got calls last year? Maybe about the same issue, with getting flights for the open house. Although, I'm IS and will have the same problem -- drive 16 hrs, or fly at $700?? THAT is the question ....

(a) ::bump::

(b) I have decided that lamenting my lack of response from WI should be in the WI thread, not Class of 2012 Admissions thread.

Really really want to call ......

Just had to reply to let you know you're not the only one.....my phone just rang and my heart started racing.....turned out to be a telemarketer. AH!:scared:

ive been checking my phone non-stop haha...because apparently I think they will call without my phone ringing. this makes me nuts! and I also jump to conclusions thinking that if one person got an acceptance today, ALL acceptances went out today and I'm rejected once again.

Here's hoping that they've only just started sending out emails/calling us...I'm not handling this whole "I may have to reapply next year" thing!

The funny this is I KNOW that IS are told later, and usually only get letters .... but I still am waiting for an email or phone call. And I too am check my silent phone (maybe it rang silently that ONE time while I was out of the room?? 🙂 )

okay. we know that they don't call a TON of people. statistically, there should be some in the mail. soon i hope!!

Yes, I just like to track my neuroses online. Obviously I need a blog or something. Anyone want to do some interpretation? I got an email from Lynn today; excerpt:
I anticipate that you will learn of the admisisons
decision well in advance of the open house, so that flights shouldn't be as much of
a problem. If you haven't heard from us by early March, please feel free to call me
(608/263-9810) and I would be happy to talk with you. I hope this helps.

If she anticipates me hearing well in advance so flights shouldn't be a problem, is that a hint, or me just overanalyzing? oh dear.

On another note, I'm allowing myself to check email and SDN only every 15 minutes now. This is my attempt at willpower. Hope all of you following are enjoying my little jaunts into obsession.

This is getting so discouraging. For those who got phone calls today, when did you get them? Should I be shutting off my phone until tomorrow since it's already 6:13EST?

okay. we know that they don't call a TON of people. statistically, there should be some in the mail. soon i hope!!

Why do they call some versus email some? Is it just that they divvy up the list and each person decides how to notify? Or did we select a preference somewhere that I've now forgotten about? Good luck with only checking every 15 minutes. Yay will power.

BTW...I'm pulling for you, wi girl!! (And you too Shemari! Dont' give up hope! Hang in there!)

I actually read somewhere (in a thread from last year maybe?) that they tend to call OOS (or email) so that they can get flights to the open house. I have never heard of an IS receiving a call (at least on SDN, and no one else from WI is in NY with me ...). so, why do they split it up? no idea. does it sound like lynn likes me in the message above? maybe i can call the office .... tomorrow ..... hmm .... my reasoning is that I go to school with a bunch of OOS who have heard .... hmm ... ::calculating devious plan to receive admission decision early::

to be honest, I really really want to know, but MN is still no.1 -- so when people start hearing from THEM, then the real fireworks will occur ... 🙂

Thanks for the luck and good thoughts VAgirl! Congrats ... you hear from VA-MD soonish, right? Interviews were recently?

If you want to call, I say call. It's not going to affect the process either way...if they want you, they'll still want you, even if they won't tell you the decision yet.

And yea, we should hear from VA-MD soonish. Tomorrow letters go out. There's been some talk on here about phone calls, but who knows. And Joyce said we can call her Monday if we haven't gotten our letter by then. Fingers crossed!!

:luck::luck::luck::luck: to everyone still waiting to hear on UW-Madison!

I just wanted to add in that I am OOS and haven't heard yet either. Shemari and wi girl I have my fingers crossed for you (and for myself too). :luck:

I love all the WI luck and love floating around. I don't have high hopes of finding out soon though ... IS (despite where I physically am in the nation) I THINK only get snail-mail. Boo. Pros and cons of calling the office tomorrow:
pro: I find out
con: what if its bad?
pro: but i'll know ...
con: and look like a stalker ....

more to come .... 🙂

oh i emailed them. i am a super stalker. it's bad. no word back yet though.

I think we're freaking out a little...we need a break!

Gah! I leave the forum for 4 hours and look what happens! I was even thinking to myself that it had been relatively quiet on SDN this week.

Not a peep via email or phone. Oh well, it was a long shot anyway. Maybe Joyce will call and cheer me up tomorrow before I fly out to MN, which is suddenly assuming even more importance in light of recent WI news!

And to throw more speculation into what already seems to be a cauldron of paranoia, I would assume that they would communicate the news to you via whichever medium you specified was best for you, but who really knows!

Congrats to all of the WI successfuls! I know that is not a word but you know what I mean.

RELAX! You're gonna give yourself an ulcer! Have a glass of wine, kick back, and enjoy the ride. Who am I kidding? Have the wine and skip the kick back and enjoy part!

Wine sounds so good right now!

So my phone rang and it said "unknown number" which got me so nervous....but of course, what vet school would ever call someone at 8:30pm hahaha oh gosh I'm going crazy here!

My home phone just rang.... it's 8:40pm and the first words out of my mouth were "OMIGOSH!!! IT'S MICHIGAN STATE!!!!" and I trampled my hubby in my rush to get the phone.... of course it was an "unknown" number, also....

I'm with you on the wine, shemari! 😀😀

and now... back to your WI thread... good luck to those still waiting!

I'm going with have several vodka sprites, and not think about it tomorrow b/c I'll be dealing with a headache ... 🙂 actually I have an honors presentation tomorrow, so no overindulging, but I got out of the house for a bit just now and put it all in perspective -- and I got a wonderful new parka that I adore. Yay for stress-mediated retail therapy!

Good luck everyone, I think I might call tomorrow, but maybe not -- as the great Scarlett said "I'll think about that tomorrow." 🙂

No word here, and I'm not holding my breath. Congratulations, VAGirl and Researchvet (and I think I'm forgetting someone!) You all have some tough choices to make - good problem to have!

I'd pay BIG $MONEY$ (among other things) to have big choices to make!!!!

I am OOS (NY) and no word either. I am normally the kind of person that NEVER turns off my phone but am flying out to Illinois tomorrow...so now I am making myself crazy! I think its worse since we (unhappily?!) resolved ourselves to be like ok March 3, and all of a sudden there is some life out of UW!

Break a leg to all waiting to hear...at least we all understand the pain of waiting!

I need to stop posting...

so Wisc takes about 20 OOS right? I'm guessing if 4 people heard yesterday, probably all 20-ish OOS heard yesterday....?

All hope for WI is gone! I'm not going to hold my breath for a phone call/email...

good luck to everyone!

My horoscope said February was going to be the wait and see month. I guess I'd call that dead on😛

I really hope that the instate notices are going out soon. I live in NY, but am still considered instate, so WI is by far my best shot. Please WI, tell us instaters soon, esp those of us not currently living instate. Now I'm going to be checking SDN twice as much.

I'm right there with you (considered in state, but live in FL)! This suspense is killing me!!!!!

Rebeki -- in completely the same boat (in case you hadn't noticed) -- my mom claims that it takes three days for mail to get here from madison -- so now we just need to find out if letters were sent yesterday, along with the phone calls -- anyone want to call and ask??

Wait, so what is it? About 1 in 4 decline OOS admission. Wisconsin only has 20 slots for OOS but I imagine they admit more than that. Im still hopeful today. After today who knows. Gonna go check last years thread about updating to see when people were finding out.

Last year a few OOS people heard a week or so before anyone else. I don't think they called all OOS, so I really wouldn't worry too much about not hearing anything yet. IS, def. don't expect a call. They'll send out letters prob. the first week in March.

Good luck to everyone and try not to drive yourselves crazy for the next couple of weeks!

Don't give up hope just yet.
I just got a call from Wisconsin at 12:30EST with my acceptance. So if you haven't heard yet hang in there.

Out of curiosity FractiousCat (and GREAT screen name btw), what does your last name begin with? You have given me a considerable boost in the hope department LOL 🙂

Oh, and HUGE congratulations. Im jealous but in the happy for you way!

Just talked to a few WI students I know ... IS don't get ANY call AT ALL. So I get to wait for a letter (joy). OOS, not all acceptances get calls, just a few. If you don't get a call, it doesn't mean anything, because some OOS who didn't get calls got letters w/ acceptances.

Just thought I'd put that out there. Now I just get to wonder if they've sent the letters out yet.

Highly doubt it. Usually letters are sent out at the end of the first week in March (last year I got mine the 8th and the year before it was the 10th). This year I think it's like the 3rd or something that they are being mailed.

Guess I can stop stalking the mailman 🙁 it was kinda fun.

The guy who called told me that I would get my official acceptance packet in the mail within the next two weeks.
