Anyone else on interview invitation hiatus?

Don't try to figure out the patterns by which med schools read your apps. There really is little consistency, and little rhyme or reason. I, too, thought that all bets were off at a school if I didn't hear from them by say, December...

...But I was invited to interview at, interviewed at, and was accepted to my current school all within two weeks. This occurred late Feb., early March.

In other words - a school usually won't invite you to interview unless there is a possibility of giving you a spot. Late interview does not equal a bad interview. I know this is stressful, but keep your heads up, do something other than checking SDN and worrying about apps (gotta stay sane!) and enjoy this year. Med school is amazingly fun, but a lot of work, so enjoy this last year.

Thanks for the good, sincere advice. I guess sometimes it's just fun to guess what's going on in their heads since there's nothing else to do but wait. But it's always good to work toward the goal of checking SDN less, haha 🙂

so i heard posting here helps 😛
i got two about 2 tweeks ago and im complete at almost 10 schools..waiting waiting....

I see posting here helps get interviews. I am awaiting my letter regarding early decision. It should arrive via snail mail tomorrow or Friday. I figure posting here may help since it seemed to help before. Good Luck to all.

Posting here really does help! I went nearly 1 month without an invite and just got one yesterday!

I hope this works, this thread makes me want to see Good Luck Chuck if it works.

Me too! Keeping my fingers crossed I get something by the end of the week...

YES, Thank you! This is why I started this thread. There is hope for late invitees after all. But of course, this might mean I'll be checking my email like a cocaine addict for the next 6 months.

nothing to lose...
though i do think the process will break our impatience eventually. We should bets who will be the first to NOT check their email for an entire day 😉.

I was actually having problems with my e-mail this past week (someone said they sent me something, and it didn't go through, and they resent it and it did... weird stuff), so I sent NYU an e-mail asking if they had sent me anything. They responded that they hadn't, and then a couple hours later I get an invite in my mailbox. Nice birthday present 🙂

my hiatus has officially reached 10 days so time to post here again!

dude they come in like batches, i was on hiatus for like 3 weeks between my first batch and second batch

Well, I officially was completed with MCAT scores to schools yesterday (app submitted June 1st). So naturally I'm anxiously awaiting any word. So here's my 'wishing-me-luck' post! 😀

I too am on hiatus after a strong start. I hope this isn't the end of the road for my e-mail traffic.

Well I'm pretty superstitious....so I might as well try out the whole posting here for good luck thing. 🙂

does the word "hiatus" still apply if we've only received one invite so far and haven't anything more? i mean, my interview future hasn't even really taken off so far for there to be a hiatus. but nevertheless, i would still love to receive more invites. fingers crossed for everyone.

Here's hoping this works.

I am fortunate to have 3 interviews within a 4 day span, but the void since then is a little disappointing....I realize that no matter how many interviews you have, unless there is an acceptance in the horizon, EVERYONE gets nervous....even the stellar applicants

So the next time I see Jolie South or Phoenix complain..I will not roll my eyes. Promise 😀

Good luck to everyone:luck::luck::luck:

have 5 interviews but havent heard anything in a month 😴

i got a couple a while ago but only 2 from schools i really want to go to. here's for hoping to an end to the hiatus by an invite from a school i really want to go to!

I think i'm the only one of the people who posted in this thread in the very beginning who didn't get an invite after posting. no luck :-( it has been really frustrating watching people get invites to all of my top choice schools the past few weeks. I'm posting here one more time for luck and then giving up on this whole superstition thing.

No, you aren't the only one -- I didn't either. 🙁

Ahhhh, 6 invites in 3 weeks, and then NOTHING...except a rejection the day of my first interview (Ohiogeekgirl, we were at the same interview 😛). Yuck.

I could use some luck too. It's frustrating sitting back and watching people get interviews and wondering what went wrong with my application that I didn't get one.

Some of my friends were complete before me and got interviews after me, and vice versa, so things are definitely more complicated than they seem.

Hoping for :luck::luck::luck::luck: and happy inboxes!

no luck for me!!! 🙁

Awww last post didn't give me any luck🙁. Heehee, I'll try this one more time. Good luck everyone else!:luck:

Well my post a couple of days ago here sure helped 🙂 I got my UT-Houston interview...finally my new employer shows some love! 😍

Well, I posted on here yesterday and today I got an email saying I was complete at a school. At least it broke the email drought so it sorta works I guess...

I'm going to Sinai in December. That's about it so far. I think maybe if I stay away from my computer for more than half an hour at a time, I'll be less discouraged when interview invites don't come pouring in.

NYMC two weeks ago, and nothing since. but its still very early... Im sure most invites will come in between mid/end october and early december.

clearly, my posting on this thread didn't work.

just got put on hold by UMich. 👎thumbdown👎

The hiatus has been broken, just got an interview from the University of Chicago! YES! maybe it does work!

if posting here is for luck then i'm game. here's to hoping for more emails!!

I hear you. I will also be in NY in December for Sinai. Got that invite 9/12 and haven't gotten a single thing since. I know it's still early, but every email could be an invite. So, yeah, I'm glued to my stupid computer. Luckily, I can't check my yahoo account at work, so I only see in on lunch and after work. But all night, I never stray too far. It isn't less discouraging when you go hours without checking, though. I have no idea how I'm going to make it until March.

last invite was a month ago. I'm due for one.

i'll also just post for the aforementioned good luck. except i have no interviews yet, so i'm not really on a "hiatus" between receiving them.

I think the current stats are a little skewed (complete vs. invite turnaround). It makes me a little nervous when I see that at certain schools people were getting invites two weeks after completion and I've now gone almost a month with no word from these schools, but keep in mind that the number of secondaries has probably increased dramatically in the past two or three weeks so our wait time is going to be a little longer now. Try to stay calm!

hey there, i'm new but decided to chime in also. have a few invites, all of which came in august. haven't heard anything in a while! waitin on sinai...

(Ohiogeekgirl, we were at the same interview 😛).

I noticed, and so was Mordounhas. I'm trying to figure out which two you two were. 🙂

Did your interviewer tell you not to send a "Thank You"? Mine told me to just send it to the admissions office.

"Do you remember when Woody Hayes came to Ann Arbor with a team that was billed as the Dream Team of the 1960's? Heralded as one of the greatest teams in the 100 year history of intercollegiate football? Riding a 22 game winning streak? No Michigan man will ever forget that."

That was Saturday November 22, 1969,
The day Ohio came to bury Michigan,
all wrapped in maize and blue,
The words were said, the prayers were read, and everybody cried,
But when they closed the coffin, there was someone else inside.

Oh the Buckeyes came to bury the Wolverines,
but Michigan wasn't dead.
And when the game was over,
it was someone else instead!
22 Michigan Wolverines put on the gloves of grey,
and as Revelli played ‘The Victors'
buried Woody Hayes away!"

I'm not from the Michigan area but that is some motivating stuff.

Decided to rub the crystal thread. Saw that it might be lucky. Loyola just sent my secondary yesterday. What is the deal?

Feeling the frustration.....😕

Mount Sinai Why Will You Not Pay Attention To Mnee!!! 🙁 🙁
