Don't try to figure out the patterns by which med schools read your apps. There really is little consistency, and little rhyme or reason. I, too, thought that all bets were off at a school if I didn't hear from them by say, December...
...But I was invited to interview at, interviewed at, and was accepted to my current school all within two weeks. This occurred late Feb., early March.
In other words - a school usually won't invite you to interview unless there is a possibility of giving you a spot. Late interview does not equal a bad interview. I know this is stressful, but keep your heads up, do something other than checking SDN and worrying about apps (gotta stay sane!) and enjoy this year. Med school is amazingly fun, but a lot of work, so enjoy this last year.
