I wouldn't give any merit to it, but one of my OMM professors, and it appears via google some non-reputable sources, say there is an increase incidence of autism since the SIDS "Back to Sleep" program was instituted.
The difference between my professor and these non-reputable sources is, he points out the increased incidence (8X) but claims it can't be attributed to cranial misalignment. The theory is, when an infant sleeps supine, since the sutures of the skull aren't fused, misalignment can occur.
Stats from the slide: SIDS risk dropped 40%, plagiocephaly (misalignment) has gone up 5X and autism has increased 8X.
I'm sure its because of early detection and nothing else that the autism rate has increased.
