Anyone on Temple's CCL list hear anything yet?

Nada, no new info. I hate waiting but I don't expect anything new to happen until August when the alternate list movement picks up.

So when are you coming down to Miami Blazed? Hopefully you come down when the weather clears up. The summer down here has kind of been depressing because all it's done is f$*&^#* rain. I haven't seen a clear sky in weeks.
 
Should be down there around July 12. Hopefully the weather clears up. I was down there in April and the weather was beautiful. I can't wait to get down there. NY has been steaming 90 degrees the last couple of days, very little rain. Damn that list doesn't move until Aug, that is a long ass time. Can't wait to hit Wet Willy's get and grab a Calling Cab.

Nothing yet...if I remember correctly from reading somewhere, annabananna, you are a probable on the alternate list...you should get accepted in August if there has been movement on the alternate list.
 
Wassup people. Solid how is everything? Got a hold of a computer down here in the Mia and figured I see if anyone has received any news. Seems like the same **** different day. August is around the cornor so maybe by then the list will start to get going. Solid you must love living down here, there are sooo many fine ladies. Today I am just chillin in Boca with some fam. I'll catch back up with you folks soon. Hang in there.
 
I officially withdrew today. 🙁 I'm sorry I waited so long, but UF was giving me some bull****......but now it's official, I'll be going to UF as long as I pass biochem this month. 🙄

Good luck to you guys! I'm crossing my fingers for you---I think the movement should start soon.

as for temple.. i havent heard anything yet either guys.. it seems like august it is.. and i probably will have to withdraw from the list too if they dont call me in before then. so good news, more spots 🙂
 
Whats up Blazed...I see you are enjoying yourself down here. As for the ladies, I don't think many other places have girls as "complete" as the ladies down here. I do love it down here and I hate the University of Miami for not even interviewing me. If I was not trying to get into med school I would be enjoying every minute of it down here.

As for any word...nothing...though I am going to send them a new update letter with my new stuff...doubt they will see it as an "extraordinary accomplishment" that will get me out of the "possible" category, but it won't hurt. Though I just realized that orientation at Temple starts on the 28th of August, later than the 22nd that I thought for some reason, and I'm a little relieved for some reason because its a week longer to hear from them than I thought, damn thats sad.

I will be withdrawing from my position in the probable category of the waitlist tomorrow and more than likely attending the University of Arizona! good luck to those of you still waiting.

Looks like some movement has begun. That's at least three people on these forums that have withdrawn from Temple in the last week or so.

Solid the movement seems to be picking up. Looking better and better everyday. Lets hope for some more movement.
 
hey all,

i am on the probable list, and i really don't feel like waiting any more. go figure.

i also wanted to be able to call tulane with the whole "i am going to philly soon, but i would rather be in new orleans".

anyhow, does anyone know if one can call and get an estimate where they are located within a certain list.

also, because i am feeling down and out because drew/ucla is full, do all people from the probable list get accepted, or does it depend on the year?
 
I think that those on the "probable" list usually do get into Temple.

You should probably call Tulane to see where you stand on the waitlist, if they don't tell you anything you might want to write them a letter of interest or intent (whatever you want to call it). Make sure to do it soon though as I imagine that their orientation starts soon.
 
Ok I'm going through another down point right now, I hate all of these waves of anxiety that I get, followed by false confidence. My only other waitlist school starts orientation on Monday, so I've pretty much been declined there. Has anyone gotten any new indication from Temple of how the rate of withdrawals have been so far as a whole (for those who have been part of the class already, besides those on SDN who have withdrawn)? I would call myself since its been a month and a half since I have but its Saturday. Has anyone spoken to them recently about this?
 
Well, you know what..

considering most medical school start in the begining of august.. once that date passes, I bet Temple will have ALOT of movement.. There must be soo many people holding out on the temple waiting list till the first week of august, cause they don't want to risk their position at another medical school for temple, so they will drop it at the last minute..

when people say temple has its biggest movement in the month of august, now i understand it.. I'd actually be very surprised if there was any movement at all from now until like August 10th.. But from there on, calls and letters should start going out.

Well, I'm back in a good mood now. I see your point, and thats why I'm very confident that the alternate list will shorten, but for Temple to start taking people off the list, people who have spots in the class now have to drop it. That means that they will have to get into another school very soon for that to happen, leaving open spots for those on the alternate list. I'm aware of most schools starting in the first week or so of August, but that means that the window for those who have spots at Temple now to get into another school is shortening, decreasing the chances that they have to go to the alternate list to fill spots.

BTW, markus, did you get accepted somewhere? I thought I read in this thread that you were in a similar spot that Foxy was with Finch.

I honestly believe the window of opportunity hasnt changed even the slightest bit for waitlisters since a month ago. I think we are all in the same position now as we were 1 month ago.

WHy do I say this. People who have waited this long are probably willing to wait a little longer.

For example. I was infact accepted somewhere else a few weeks ago. And your going to hate hearing this, but I'm holding my temple spot on the waitlist because I want to get in still 🙂 SO for example, you or anyone elses chances relative to me hasnt changed even tho I might have gotten an acceptance somewhere else. Now lets say temple tells me nothing, and August 5-10 rolls around, and I have to go to the other school. I will then drop temple, and BAM, everyone moves up a spot on the list. Multiply that over a few times and u know whats going on.

So I dont think the window of opportunity is based on time whatsoever.. its annoying as hell to realiztically have to wait almost another whole month before hearing something.. but i think in terms of ure chances.. hoenstly.. dont worry yet.. e-zier said then done, but i really believe this in my heart..
 
Markus that is a really good way to look at it. I can see that happening myself. If it does work out that way, people on the alternate list can jump up their ranking quickly, increasing their chances for admission. Makes a lot of sense. We got to hang in there and ride this out whatever the outcome may be.

I see your point and it does make total sense markus, I guess I've just become way too impatient because I'm going through the whole reapplication process and I've already sent back 2 secondaries. I'm also retaking the MCAT to raise my score some because I don't want it to be average for my application next year and we all know what a pain in the ass that is.

And I don't hate you for holding your spot at Temple because I think it only makes a minimal difference, besides I would do the same probably. Congrats by the way, and good luck where ever you end up attending, hopefully it'll be Temple since I assume you would rather be there.
 
Solid I am also going to retake that dreaded MCAT. I hate that test soo much, but sometimes you have no choice. It would be great if Temple can get back to us with some positive news before then, perhaps it may happen. I try to be as optimistic as possible. Take it EZ I am heading to Isla Morado. called Temple today they said that they will begin to look at the list after the first week of August. That was all they were willing to tell me. If anyone hears anything more let a brother know.
 
Thats pretty much what they told me. Seems really late though, but I guess if markus's hypothesis is correct, that would be about the time that they would start looking at the list. Hopefully they had enough withdrawals for them to get around to us on the possible list.

Are you still down in S. Florida Blazed?
 
Whats up Solid? I left South Florida on Sunday, I am back in NY now. Damn it is hotter here than in Florida. I already miss Miami. It is now August, many Med schools have begun or will begin with in the next couple of weeks. It is late Solid, but from what I am reading that seems to be the time that Temple starts to move their waitlistees along. Time to fill out those secondaries, and keep our head up you never know what can happen....
I need to head back down to sunny Miami soon.
 
Wat up guys, thought it was about time to bump this up. Any new info/news from the Temple camp? Probably not, I guess since next week seems to be the big week for us waitlistees. I'm keepin the faith though, for all of us.

some really ****ty news . . . called them up today to see if there has been or will be any movement. i ended up talking with a marie, or something like that, she told me that they are oversubscribed still and that they most likely will not even get to the waitlist. she said that even the folks on the 'probable' list, at this point in time, are very unlikely to recieve an acceptance.

she was very pleasant and did talk to me for half an hour or so, so tha was kind of nice, but as a second time applicant and some one who went to eight interviews and didn't get in, i am going to grenada, some what grudgingly.

I had a feeling this was still the case, though the guy I talked to the other day did not seem to indicate it to me. I hate it when people are too weak to be honest. I really now believe that Temple freaked out because of AMCAS and decided to give out too many acceptances because they were unsure whether or not they would be able to fill this class because of all the delays. This is a perfect example of how people might have gotten screwed by AMCAS this past year. They might not have affected people directly because in the end all applications were sent out, but the delays hurt indirectly. Oh well, I have accepted my fate already. If I do get in by some incredible act of God then great. It could be quite possible that people still have not withdrawn from Temple yet and the rate will increase next week when most schools start. But that might be too hopeful at this point.

For now I'm holding my head up high and I'm poised and ready to bust a 35 on this August MCAT.

Wow, it would be quite a travesty if they're not even going to get to the "probable" people. That letter in June almost seemed to spell out the notion that probable people are virtually a lock to get in. They couldn't have anticipated this situation 1.5 months ago so that they could've adjusted their letter?! Anyways, it's safe to say that, as Solid Gold said, the AMCAS fiasco screwed many applicants. At first, directly, and now, indirectly. Nonetheless, I am still keeping my fingers crossed for all of you...

It totally sucks how AMCAS was screwed up this year, but if this were the case (that schools gave out too many acceptances for fear of the AMCAS situation), then wouldn't that help students? Because more would get an acceptance letter than usual?
 
Given jdub's information, I was thinking that this year's class at Temple would be almost exclusively PA residents.
 
Tuesday Weld: You are right about what you said in the end there is no one who really got screwed by AMCAS. I just would have rather known my likely fate earlier than keeping my hopes up for so long so I could just be able to move on and plan what I will be doing for the next year. I'm sure that's how everyone feels when they are on a waitlist. Now it seems that even the probables will not get an acceptance even after being told in that letter that they were pretty much going to eventually get in. Thats got to hurt.
 
Just wanted to say that I'm really sorry about the situation with Temple's waitlist. It sucks, no two ways about it. I went through the same thing before and would a hundred times have rather been rejected outright. 🙁

They keep people in suspense like a *****, and have the nerve to congratulate you on making their waitlist.(Congrats on making the CCL) that is some straight up bull****... Well at least that garbage is over with, time to get moving on this application cycle. Solid what's up man. How is life treating you? I been working my ass off here. Good luck on the MCATS..

Thanks a lot Foxy. They said not even the probables will get in, but yet they offered you a spot when you told them about your situation with Finch. Finished that Biochem class yet? Good luck in USF, go in there and represent girl...
 
Wat up Blazed, you are right about the whole Temple thing, its bull****. I wish I knew that I had no hope from the get go. I actually thought I had a decent chance based on the numbers from past years and the number of people they took off the alternate list.

But, I've been studying my ass off for the MCAT and I don't know how but I might get the high score that I want (if AAMC Practice Test 6 is a good indication). Hopefully all this hard work will pay off and we get in next year (maybe even Temple) since it seems like that magical phone call/letter from Temple won't be coming our way if all indications are right.

Temple's class must be about 90% PA residents this year since no one from the CCL/waitlist will be getting in.

it is pretty hard to give up until it is officially over, but jefferson is about to start. monday is their first day of class or orientation, and that is pretty much the last school that would pull any temple folks off their list (on a side note, i am also on that wait list and they won't even tell me if they are still accepting people, what gives?). i imagine that they are still over-subscribed. so getting a call seems to be akin with a miracle. how depressing.

any one else going to apply to st george's january class? or are you all going to apply to us schools again?

As expected, nothing from Temple. I figured that I would bring this back to life one last time since Temple begins on Wednesday. Anyone know if they are still oversubscribed?
 
I still think so Solid. I have been loggin on to see if anyone here has been taken off the list, but I have not seen anyone except for Foxy back in early July. Seems like we have to make another run for it. This time we are going to get in. Got all my secondaries already. Need some interviews now. Solid are you applying to Temple again, what about any schools in NY? Since I have some time on my hands I might head down to Miami again for a little while. I was going to apply to UM but they take very few people that are not residents of the state of Florida, so that might be a waste of money. Get back at me.- Ryan

I've been rolling out those secondaries since the MCAT was over with, so if anything, getting these applications finished early already puts me a step ahead compared to last year. And yeah, I'm applying to Temple again. Its still a school that I would like to go to. I really put a lot into that little essay on their secondary. Who knows, maybe you'll get to start another thread next year about Temple's CCL, or maybe about getting into Temple.

I'm only applying to two NY schools this year, Albany and NYMC. I figure that the other private schools there like Cornell, Mount Sinai, and NYU would be a complete waste of my time and dough. Of course all the SUNY's take mostly in state. University of Miami though has made some changes and plans to accept more out of state people like they started for this years class. Something like 25 will be accepted this year. All I've got to say is that my alma mater better interview me this time around.

What are you planning on doing for the year? I have no clue yet. All I know is that I need to make some money.

Thats all I have for now. Let me know whats up from time to time and keep me posted about the interviews that you get.
