Wayne State threads don't get a ton of love 'round here, but I am curious about my future classmates. Anyone out there who has decided on Wayne??? Where are you going to live???
With the August 4th rapidly approaching I am getting a little excited/nervous to move back to Michigan.
Thought I'd throw this out there to see who else will be heading to Detroit me. I know there must be a few lurkers or two who are ready to come out of the woodwork!!!

hi...I'm only applying right now, but a friend of mine that I've gone to school with the past 3 years is starting in the Fall at Wayne State with you. 🙂 (can't wait to hear all about it from him!)

E-spin, I tried to reply to your P.M., but your mailbox is full, so since this isn't a private topic, I'll go ahead and put my answer about the welcoming ceremony here:

The welcoming ceremony is pretty cool. Fairly casual, actually. You will probably want to dress up somewhat (nice slacks or skirt), since you will be wearing your white coat, and you should dress professionally whenever you wear your white coat. Also, they'll take pictures. But as far as the rest of the family goes, casual is just fine. They will split up the class into 3 or 4 groups, each of which will use one auditorium. The ceremony's main speakers are simulcast on the large screens, and then several faculty members in each auditorium will cloak each student in turn, after you are introduced. You won't sit with your folks, you'll sit with the rest of the students in the front. I can't remember how long the whole thing was, but I think it was about an hour. It's nice, you'll recite the modern hippocratic/student oath, you'll get a VERY general overview of the 4 years (mostly for parents' benefit) and then lunch will be offered. A word of advice: feel free to take the free lunch, however, it is probably going to be a box lunch in the cafeteria, the same type you will get all week during orientation. If you want something more festive, you might want to go to a restaurant, which is what my family did.
