At what point do you start requesting phone interviews? I have 10 interviews and since my chances of matching are 99% I am thinking of requesting phone for my safety sites. This is getting expensive and I have a baby at home I will be missing terribly. How would you word such email to not kill your chances completely?

Thank you for saying this! I have to say, I have been slightly disheartened to see sites I was genuinely interested in as “safety sites” for some people who have been pondering canceling an established interview if something better comes along. I know this doesn’t mean I would have gotten an interview...but someone would have. Every yes is someone else’s noIf you're comfortable with your current list then I would think about kindly declining the offer. I think there are plenty of people who would value that interview spot and it would be one less thing to worry about in this mess. Obviously it is a personal choice, but if I was somewhat throwing in the towel on those sites then I'd allow the site a chance with someone more invested.
No. Their interview notification date is posted as December 14Has anyone heard from Emory University CAPS?
Anyone hear news on Central Regional’s adult track? I haven’t seen anything yet, but invites for all other tracks have gone out.
I'm carrying a plain black laptop bag that has a notebook, copy of CV, pens, and snacks. I think a bag is fine as long as it isn't like a sparkly tote bag you got on someone's bachelorette party that has a picture of a wine glass on it. I think the watch will be fine as long as you have notifications silenced and don't seem like you're constantly checking the time during interviews.Does anyone know if it's better to carry a purse, tote, or nothing? My suit doesn't have pockets so I feel like I need to carry at least my phone with me. Also, is anyone planning on wearing an Apple watch? I may not because it could go off somehow, but my regular watch is pink... I hope I'm overthinking this.
I like the laptop bag idea! And relieved to know even a pink watch is acceptable. I don't want to stand out as the Elle Woods of psychology (although I lowkey amI'm carrying a plain black laptop bag that has a notebook, copy of CV, pens, and snacks. I was going to go with Uber, but I didn't even think of this! I would either call a cab company the night before and schedule a ride or use the schedule ride option with Uber. I am also going to give myself about 30-40 extra minutes on top of how ever long it might take for me to get to the site just to be safe. I'd rather be super early than late at all.I'm trying to avoid using rental cars because 1) I'm under 25 and don't feel like paying the extra fee and 2) I honestly find it stressful to return and last time almost got lost at the airport trying to find it lol. Thus, I'm wondering if anyone is planning on using an Uber to get to interviews in the morning? My fear is there will be none available in the area, they will be an hour away, they won't show up, etc. I've also had taxis fail to show up before due to getting lost and unknown reasons. What do you guys think is the most reliable option?

I would say better to be safe than sorry. I always hide my tattoo until I start working at a place, and then if they ask me to cover it I do of course. Although it has also helped me to connect with clients.I have a nose ring in. Do you think it's necessary to remove for the interviews? None of my current supervisors have any issues with it and in some ways I think it's helped me relate to others in my clinical work. I know there's usually an understood no tattoo/piercing rule for interviews. Any insight?

I think as long as it isn't gaudy and you don't wear it on your back you should be fine. I didn't want to risk my luggage being too big and being checked (our DCT told us every year someone loses their luggage) so I'm bringing my multi-colored Vera Bradley luggage bag as my carry-on and sites will see it when I ask them to put it somewhere.. I just can't keep worrying about it anymore and can't spend $50 to go get a black luggage bag... Hopefully sites aren't that critical! What about backpacks? I would like to carry a tote but also with all the traveling I’ll be carrying my backpack as well, but I’m guessing it that it might look unprofessional?

Yes!Got this one too!! 🙂
I say be yourself (within reason), and know your environment. If it's a setting which typically would restrict piercings, be aware of that. I could see an argument for and against taking it out for interviews. One of my practicum supervisors asked me if I'd be willing to take my nose ring out for internship, and if I'd be happy at a site that would care about whether I have a nose ring or not. I left mine in for all of my interviews (and I matched at a children's hospital for neuro, for what it's worth).I have a nose ring in. Do you think it's necessary to remove for the interviews? Nope! No pushback. She actually had 17 interviews! And got her top site. I've done all of my practicum rotations and interviews with mine in, and always leave it in for professional conferences. That's good to hear. Did they have any pushback or feel as though it worked against them at all?

I wondered the same...I have many tattoos, but only 2 that are visible in long sleeved, professional clothing... one behind one ear, and one actually on the other ear. Both are small, but with hair down, not terribly noticeable. I was told by my training director to leave them uncovered, but I feel a little uncertain about it still.
Yay, me too! Did you pick a date yet?Got this one too!! 🙂
