PhD/PsyD APPIC Internship Interview Invitation Thread (2019)

Any chance anyone knows of anyone who has applied to the Maine or Wyoming Va? I know notifications are next week but I think they tend to be less popular and I’m wondering if I’m just in a reject pile
 
The only thing ive heard from a site today was that my reports didn't attach [emoji36] [emoji36] not a rejection though! Could be a good sign... Otherwise radio silence.

They truly are unique and have their own personality. Mine hops like a bunny! She is clingy as well, that’s what I love about the breed. Mine had allergies until I switched to Orijen. It’s expensive but I don’t trust most dry food after watching Pet Fooled on Netflix.

I know Virginia treatment center for children sent out invites today, did anyone hear rejections?
Or Mercyfirst?

I'm so sorry you're going through this. This whole process feels so isolating and I'm sure this adds to it.

I’m with you on the perceived randomness. I think my cover letters didn’t appeal to most that I would have expected to be more likely to invite me, but managed to be good enough for a few sites (that I thought were less likely) which have plenty of research opportunities. It’s clear now where I may have erred.

Hi y'all, current intern here 🙂. Just wanted to pop in and say that all of us current interns can distinctly remember back to how brutal this process can be and I hope you all are able to take care of yourselves and find some semblance of peace soon!

Also, my site sent out an email today about coordinating schedules with us current interns and all of you who will be interviewing with us soon, and I personally cannot WAIT to meet all of you bomb AF almost-psychologists!! So, even though this part of the process can royally suck, please, please know that those of us on the other side are rooting for you and can't wait to be impressed by you all! 🙂

For OHSU rejections, did anyone get rejected from more than one track? I realized I assumed the rejection was to all three tracks, but I looked and it could be for just one. Did the neuro or other track rejection use the word neuro, or did it say “Developmental Disabilities and Pediatric Psychology”?

Does anyone know if there are any interview prep books that would be helpful? My program shared with us a list of questions but I would love to hear examples of how others have answered common interview questions

I had one rejection that was sent approximately two hours late of the deadline - so at like 2am. Who knows, but hopefully they let you know either way so you can stop thinking about it. And yes, I was awake past 2am.

I submitted 19 apps. 3 invites, 8 rejections, and waiting on 8 responses. The remaining sites notification dates range between 12/12 - 12/21. [emoji12]

Any news about Montefiore adult? And what thoughts does group have about possibility of Memphis VAMC sending health invitations in waves?

So looking at last year's application #'s to Memphis VA, it looks like they definitely receive a lot per year. Last year was 176, year before 138, year before that 157. I have not yet received confirmation regarding my preferred/requested interview date, so my guess is that they might send more invites out if others turn down their interview. My other educated guess is that since it's so late in the game, people's schedules are pretty full and therefore it is very possible that someone could turn it down. One last thought, they did offer an option for phone interview, so if people take that, maybe they will have room to offer additional in-person interview slots?

Not sure what to make of this because it doesn’t really speak to einstien’s Adult track? If reading it correctly (and it’s conceivable I’m not), it looks like it just indicates dates for the child (child/adolescent) and combined (child/adult) tracks. No data on adult stand alone.

Thanks, friend. So over this. Felt like I did really well at start and now getting dumped on at end. Not sure what’s preferable. 13 ain’t bad but I really wanted Einstein and have quickly lost hope. Memphis VA just feels like a slap.

13 is AMAZING! You HAVE done really well. but I do know what you mean, any rejection feels bad regardless of where it stood in your list. I will say, even if your top site rejects you - other sites you have interviews with might completely surprise you. My interview on Thursday did just that, and I'm now using that interview to measure all the rest of my interviews against. Did not expect to love the site so much or for it to be such a great fit - and that very well may happen to you as well! and of course, remember, that most of this is a total crapshoot so don't spend too much time trying to figure out the whys and hows. hang in there 🙂 and also go freakin celebrate your 13 invites, that is something to be proud of!
