Hi emma i would say applyand if you get interviewe wich i am pretty sure that you will you can always tell them that the part 2 can be retaken after you graduate from school

very good stats!! I heard of that 89(new) equal to 94(old)...
your gpa and TOEFL are also great.

No, it's not true. Score xx in the "old" format is same as xx in the "new" one. Call the ADA people and find out it by yourself.

Relax, Emma, you have an amazing part 1 score, you'll definitely get in any school you want! 🙂))

I agree with axis.This is false that the old and new format are being compared and the score of new is "equivalent" to the score of the old format.

hi emma, 97 is a great score, congrats!; apply and tell them you'll re-take part 2 ..you'll be fine..and 4 years exper. in US counts a lot

what r my chances?

i had requested part 1 and 2 score reports separately...but they say all reports are same?
dnt they send raw scores when they send the report to uni?
how does a score report look like when u have requested for only part 1? and how does it appear when u ve requested for part 2?

I just graduated 2 weeks ago from international dental school
Born and raised in US.

I know my part I is real low but does anyone think that I may have a chance? I will be taking my part II in december and if im not accepted this year, I will take part I again next year. Thanx in advance.

Hey there! Well, I'm from San Jose, California and well I ended up studying internationally for a couple of reasons. I did apply to US dental schools before i chose to leave the states but unfortunately i was denied. I did have a chance for an interview in UPENN and Ohio i believe but by the time i wanted to go, it was too late! I was waiting for UCLA's response and I made a huge mistake by not going to UPENN or Ohio. I didnt want to wait another year so I left to Mexico. Honestly, I wish I would have never studied abroad for many reasons but at the same time I am also really glad that I did. I was able to learn a different language and adapt myself to another culture. IT is though, really, really difficult to return to the states coming from an international dental school. Im hoping that my background will help me out with my application process. I heard that it doesn't help much though but Ima gonna keep my fingers crossed. 😀 Anyways, dental school here in MX was difficult at first since it was all in spanish. I had to learn it step by step but honestly it feels overwhelming now that I can speak, write and listen to it. I dont feel like my classes prepared me enough for the boards which can be seen from my results. I did try to study for the boards when I had the chance but it was difficult cuz I had clinical rotations and lectures. By the end of the day, I was exhausted, u know? But I did learn a significant amount from Dr's and professors . . . oh, and another positive note was that the clinic received many patients. Having to perform in third world countries also allowed me to observe many kinds of lesions, diseases, treatment plans, diagnosis and so forth. It was a tremendous experience for me. Basicallly, be careful what you are getting into...I would definitely go to a US dental school if I were you. What school are you planning to go to? and where are you from? Let me know if you have anymore questions.

As you may know, applying to dental schools is not cheap. Application fees plus score report fees (ECE,NBDE, and TOEFL), and in the case there is an interview call, transportation and accommodation costs are going to cost the applicant a small fortune. I'm skipping some programs for this reason (Michigan, Florida, ...). I know that there are other dentists in the same boat, so, let us know what you think.

Nothing is more expensive than applying AGAIN next year...so apply everywhere... you still have UMichigan, Texas, and NYU, all the rest require GC or Part II or are space based programs.

the problem is you can not just send your part1 score!!! your part1 and part2 score are together. Yes, it definately negatively affect your chance with low part2. My situation is the same, part1 97/part2 76. I think sooner or later we have to retake part2, but for application, there is no too much time left.

I have ordered ECE evaluation (additional reports) yesterday and part 1 reports today.How much time does it normally take to reach the schools?

Would it reach schools by 1st sept?

Zygomatic..i dont understand why u should be even worried???
U have a grt part 1 score, good work experience, ur gpa is ok...prbly if u have the time, u could improve ur toefl score.
But check schools which have lower cutoffs for toefl scores..and u r good to go.

USC says this is time the graduate office is gonna process the toefl score..where did u all send the toefl? i mean which code? they give only 4 digits...but toefl saya u have to have the last 2 digits for department ....eg. ****-38 38 is for school of dentistry but USC denies it...so what did u all do?

Keep your fingers crossed...these scores sometimes take 2 weeks and sometimes 4 weeks..

I got an email from usc that my application is complete but i need to confirm with the grad school about my toefl score report...guess what they said? they have their toefl but they need my financial statemnt...
no body asks for financial statement at this stage. and I m not even applying for students visa...i have h4..
has enyone else sent their financial statemtn to them?

I called up again and school of dentistry says thats okay if grad school asks for it...u dont need to send it...
