Nosleep:

I would like to work with Elaine Walker. How about you? Is it Dr. Emory?

I have a dilemma: I found out that their interview date is Feb. 11th, with a secondary interview date on Feb. 14th. I have to take the secondary date, since I have already been invited to an interview on the 11th. Do you guys think this will negatively impact my chances?

THANKS!!

Yes, Dr. Emory.

I would think that it would not affect your chances at all, I think these places realize that it's a busy time for (the lucky ones) us.

I'm waiting for Duke's interview as well.... 🙁
ahhhhh.....

UNC-Chapel Hill emailed me today and informed me that I made their initial cut from 'several hundred to 50' and to keep feb. 25th open.

In case anyone is interested.....

I had heard rumors about this but just found out it was true: the APA puts out a list of graduate schools that still have openings after the April 15th deadline.

Here's a link:

Got my first interview invite -- Loyola College in Maryland (PsyD program). The interview date is Feb 25. 😳

Hey all! So this is my first post, and I like all of you am worried about the interview process. But hopefully everything will work out for all of us. That being said, has anyone received information about interviews from the following schools' clinical programs...UCONN, U. of Denver, American, GWU, Suffolk, Rutgers, FDU, Binghamton, Long Island University, CUNY, Drexel or UPitt?? Thanks and good luck to you all!

Of the schools you listed I applied to GWU (PsyD) and I have not heard anything. My friend applied to U of Denver (PsyD) and has not heard anything yet either.

hey rubba,
who do you want to work with at binghamton? Got an e-mail from UT southwestern saying that final decision will be made Feb.7 and to keep march 5 open for interviews.

Hi, I'm new here.

I have been invited to interview at Temple University on Feb 7th(Brian Marx), Kent State Feb 19(Stevan Hobfoll) and Case Western Reserve University Feb 18 (Sandra Russ).

Has anyone heard from any NYC schools?

good luck to everyone!

no news from CUNY, LIU, Suffolk, or Drexel yet. so hopefully that's good news!

What's PhD II? pardon my ignorance, I'm new here.

2nd year of my first and last PhD......I'd never put myself through this long winded road again.... :scared:

Based on what I'm seeing here, it looks like I'm out of the running for two of my schools (Temple & Buffalo).

I also applied to Iowa, Wisconsin-Madison, Rosalind Franklin, Illinois-Chicago, Arkansas, and GWU. From another message board someone posted that GWU will begin contacting people around Feb. 14th for interviews on the first weekend in March. Anyone hear anything regarding any of these schools? I'm sure once I hear about one interview, I'll be ok, but until then I'm terribly anxious! :scared:

Amimi:

I applied to Buffalo and had a phone interview last week. Their process is that they have two faculty members do a phone interview with each student that they selected for interviews. I still have one interview to go. However, the faculty who interviewed me said that all faculty have two to three weeks to contact and conduct interviews with students, and that he was getting his done early. So you still have a couple of weeks to go before crossing Buffalo off! Good luck!!

Also, I applied to Madison, and I do know that faculty met last week to discuss applicants. I know I am in the running because of personal contact with a faculty member that I want to work with. I don't know if they have made final decisions about interviews/acceptances.

Finally, I also applied to UIC and have not heard anything.

Good luck! 😀

Amimi--

I also spoke to two faculty members at Buffalo last week and one of them said that they would be interviewing until the middle to end of February and that not all applicants had even been contacted yet. So I don't think there is anything to worry about!

good luck!

Psychapp & Sunny22: Thanks for the input, guys! It's good to hear how the process is going at different schools, since it's not always the same everywhere. I know it's still a little early to be hearing from people, but I can't help but be nervous! Congrats to you both on getting the interviews you have so far, and best of luck!

I just heard from UConn. Interview dates are Feb.23 and March 2

Sara: Was your Case Western for the clinical PhD program? If so....did the faculty member contact you personally? Just curious....the person you listed was not one of the ones I listed....so I'm still holding out hope.

Lily: Congrats on UConn. Did you get a phone call or email? Was it from a faculty member or secretary?

I was away all weekend....but nothing came in for me while I was gone. I'm hoping to start hearing something from schools this week. It seems like when I called the schools the vast majority listed this week and next week as being the weeks where they'll be contacting people.

I received an email. Congrats to all on their interviews!

I applied to UConn and haven't heard from them. Should I be nervous? This is really excruciating, I obsessively check email and the web. I cannot wait until this process is over!!

Sunny22 😕

Hey Sunny,

This is the first I've heard about UConn. I wouldn't sweat it...yet...lol...I'm in the same boat. I would think that it would take about a week to notify everyone. They get over 200 apps.

I've also heard that Loyola Chicago has started to email. Another one of my schools that I have not heard from :-(

I received an email for UConn directly from the person I want to work with, NOT the graduate secretary. I'm sure invites will be staggered a bit.

I got a phone call from the person that I marked as my first choice to work with. She called personally and told me there were several dates where they have a day-long info session, luncheon, grad student panels, etc. That is either Feb 18, 24, or 25th. I am interviewing with her on the 21st because she wouldn't be around on the 18th when I'm coming for the info session. She was very flexible.

Hey Lily,

Was it the person you listed on your app? I was bummed that they restricted it to 1 person on the app, and so I listed the other 3 people I like in my statement.

Who was the professor if you don't mind me asking?

I listed Stephanie Milan as my top choice.

I called Fordham today and they said they would be notifying applicants about interviews today (or tomorrow) by email. Then I checked my email and I accidentally deleted my "bulk" messages before I checked it. Now I'm afraid that I've deleted my interview invite (if there was one).

Has anyone here been notified by Fordham University (for Clinical PhD)??

Sara:
Is there a way that your bulk messages just get transfered to a trash box? That's what mine do....so even if I delete my bulk ones they still end up in my trash box.

I don't know if they would send it as a bulk email either....I am sure they know that the majority of people have filters on their emails (ie; it gets trashed if there is more than X number of recipients).

I don't think so, bc after I deleted, I freaked out and checked my trash and it was empty already.

I called them after I deleted the bulk, just to make sure that really had sent out the interview email and the woman I spoke with told me the woman who sends the emails had left for the day. So I guess I will try back tomorrow and let you all know.

About them sending it as a bulk msg...I got an email from Suffolk University inviting me to apply for a fellowship, and they put everyone's email address in the "to" box, so everyone could see everyone else's email addresses. So I wouldn;t put it past them to send bulk msgs in the future form other schools.

That sucks Sara :-( I'm sure the email lady will be able to help you.

Got some semi-good news today. Got home from work and a professor from Notre Dame had called me. Will be calling her tomorrow (it's for the developmental program though).
Also Wisconsin-Madison (human development program) ...I have a professor calling me this week. He said in the email that he had reviewed my application and that it looked really good. He said final decisions are made by the committee, but that my chances were really good.

Tomorrow morning one of the professor from Wisconsin-Milwaukee is calling me 🙂

I'm also going to call Temple and find out if they're done inviting and will let you guys know.

Good luck with Temple. I know they have interviews on the 4th and 7th, and I'm going on the 7th. Maybe i'll see you there!

Does anyone hear anything from UMass Boston??? I am getting nervous 🙁

By the way, congrats to all on their interviews! It seems everyone is doing well 🙂

I didn't apply to UMass Boston, but I heard on another board that they tend to interview a little later, around March. Hope that is helpful!

🙂

Fordham sent their interview notes out yesterday at around 1:30. The interview dates are 2/4, 2/10/ and 2/11

Thanks sunny22!! So I guess they will contact their applicant a bit later this month??

Good luck to you all by the way!!

got an interview invite to Notre Dame. interview date is 2/25 for ALL psych programs. I applied to developmental..they accept 4-5 and only invite 8 people...so I guess I've got a good shot at it 🙂 And I am going to this one because they reimburse for airfare.
Had a phone interview with one faculty member at UW Milwaukee this morning. I think it went OK....he said he was impressed with my application, and would let the committee know that the interview went very well.

Man....is it April 1st yet? lol I just want this to end!

twiggers:

CONGRATS!! That's awesome! If you got accepted at both, would you pick the clinical or the developmental, providing you equally like both programs?

Also: I heard from Toledo today (clinical). Interview dates are February 18th and February 25th. Good luck! 🙂

I heard from the University of Toledo today, if anyone applied there. Interviews are on the 18th and the 25th.

Congratulations Twiggers! I am excited to hear about your expense paid interview. I finished my interviews with Buffalo, I think they went well, but who knows??

I spent all day stressing about Conn. I couldn't take being near the internet anymore, so I went shopping! Now I can worry about bills & grad school! LOL! 🙄

Psych: I think if I got into both I would go with Notre Dame. The decision would be most likely based upon whose stipend is higher, but I would lean towards Notre Dame simply because of geographic location and lower cost of living. The Notre Dame program is great because it specializes in developmental psychopathology...so I'm still getting the clinical subject matter with the more developmental basis which I really like 🙂 BUT.....if Minnesota comes through then all other schools are out the window!

Congrats on interview psych.....how many is that now for you?

Sunny: I am sure you did great! Let us know when you hear something!

Twiggers: I don't blame you about Minnesota.

I also just received a phone call from the professor I want to work with at Louisville. Interview dates are Feb. 25th or Feb. 28th.

So far, that's five clinical interviews (six if you count my preliminary interview with Wisconsin-Madison). I NEVER thought I would get this many, and the expense of travelling really starting to kick in!! I don't know if I can afford too many more.......

That is fantastic psychapp!!!! I am sure the offers will come pouring in 🙂

I'm sitting at 2 official, 1 unofficial from Wisconsin-Madison (not a clinical program), and 1 unofficial from Urbana-Champaign.

I heard from UConn today. Interview days are on Feb 23rd and March 2nd. This waiting process is really starting to get to me!

Nothing from UConn for me. Unless they called today while I've been at work.
Sheesh......everyone's hearing from UConn but me :-(

don't worry yet...the person who contacted me made it seem like she's telling the people who have to travel the farthest first, so we can start planning. I'm in California, so I imagine they are still pretty early in the process. Speaking of CA, has anyone heard from CA schools yet?

is everyone hearing from individual faculty members at uconn? i am so anxious about that one, because i thought i was such a good fit, but apparently not, because i haven't heard anything!

but, i am happy to hear that i have an interview @ the univ of denver (counseling phd)

keeping my fingers crossed! 😱

For anyone interested, Arizona State and University of Washington have started inviting. Interview dates for both are 3/4 and 3/7.
