**April 2007 Practice Test Scores Thread**

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Alright, I'll be the first one to break down my scores. This is also in the order in which ive taken them. I took the kaplan diagnostic in january, and I have started taking one AAMC exam a week for the rest of the way in.

Kaplan Diagnostic (pre-studying): 6p 8v 8b (22)
AAMC 3R: 10p 8v 11b (29)
AAMC 5R: 7p 10v 11b (28)
AAMC 6R: 10p 10v 10b (30)

The trends are looking good to me so far. I know the 7 on 5R was a little low, but I attribute it to not knowing any of the formulas. Im usually 1 question or so away from a 12 on bio, and with the lesser amount of orgo on the real thing as apposed to theses early AAMC tests, i think a 12 or 13 is possible. My verbal has been getting better and I hope to get it to an 11 for the big day. For the physical section my goal is an 11, so hopefully with more practice and knowing the formulas, I should get there

Actual MCAT goal: 11p 11v 12-13b (34-35)

My scores have been atrocious. But I am taking one on Friday and feel real confident. I'll let you guys know after I take it!

Aamc 4r: Ps(12) Vr(9) Bs(10) 31
Aamc 5r: Ps(10) Vr(11) Bs(12) 33
Aamc 6r: P13 V10 B14 37
Aamc 7r: P13 V9 B14 36
Aamc 8r: P14 V9 B13 36

um ok I am not going to post my score now lol

Oh yeah... top this:

Diagnostic: 45T
KFL12: 46U
KFL13: 45T (too much noise in test room)
AAMC10: 47S (writing sample got me)
AAMC13: 49T (back on track)
AAMC14: 48T (What was up with that quantum passage?)
AAMC15: 49U

Actual Goal: 55Z

...😴 ...

What a dream THAT was!!!!!

I can't even tell my scores because I'm such a BAMF the aamc server for the practice CBTs blew up and read "you have defeated the MCAT"...then I met up with the 55 score guy that just posted and created a new medical school 😉 But serously, I'm going to vegas in a couple days and I'll start posting my scores after monday!

-Good luck April 07'ers

Aamc 6r: P13 V10 B14 37
Aamc 7r: P13 V9 B14 36
Aamc 8r: P14 V9 B13 36

hey RUKnight, did ur science scores improve because u took your first 2 because you were not finished reviewing? or did u improve ur score just because of practice?

i was finished reviewing even before i took the 4r. it was from taking more exams and getting familiar that my score started to jump. Im an organic chemistry tutor so the orgo doesnt scare me, but the bio started to get really easy because i learned how to reason better

January 13th TPR 4110 3p-8v-6b (17) ... I know no PS!!! CRUD!!!

Febuary 13th TPR 4120: 5p-7v-5b (17)... Okay I am angry... but I freaked out during verbal cause my "TPR tools" didnt work and my timer disappeared during physical sciences... i hate excuses but come on!! Test-Self-Efficacy anyone?

March 3rd TPR 4130: 7p-11v-6b (24)... Hmmm getting interesting... wonder if that verbal resoning is representative of my real score?!? Hope so! Ended biological sciences early (20 min) and guessed on the last 15 or so cause I thought i did cruddy on the everything before it... oh well crunch time is coming and I gotta pick up the pace!

March 18th: Amcas cbt99p-10v-8b (27)... Sweet! Getting closer to that 30 have three weeks and a little more content to go over. Had a weird distrubution where I got almost all the hard questions right, ~70% of medium and 0% of easy?!?! Any ideas anyone? 😕

Great improvements! What have you been doing for physical sciences?

or is it just that those TPRs aren't accurate?

I was most nervous about my PS so I am more focused when it comes to physics/gen chem, I do all the TPR homework and review what I get wrong and why religously. Additionally, I took those classes over four years ago and remembered NOTHING so my increases correlate with my relearning of the matierial, same goes for BIO. Verbal just got better when I abandoned TPR's strategy. 😀

i need to improve my scores by 1-2 pts. each within 3 weeks!!! how the heck do u study for verbal???

4R: 10PS 12VR 10BS 32

Taking 5R in a couple days and then will start on the rest in about a week since I want to save most of the aamc tests for last. I'm very happy with my 4R score considering I haven't scored higher than a 30 on the gold standard cbts yet...just hoping verbal stays consistent and sciences go up 1 or 2 points.

Just took AAMC 7.

P:7, VR:9, B:8

Total: 24

I am going to have to start studying for bio now, I have been putting all of my emphasis on Physical Sciences and neglecting bio. Doesnt seem to be doing me too much good.

I just took AAMC 7 too. Kinda disapointed after 6's 30 I got last week, but I had some huge exams this week that kept me from studying. Not too happy about the verbal drop (I suck at humanities passages apparently). Bio section felt very orgo heavy... like almost 1/2. Looking forward to taking 8-10 with a more accurate breakdown.

AAMC 7R: 9P 8V 11B (28)

AAMC3: 8/9/9 = 26
AAMC4: 9/9/10 = 28
AAMC5: 8/10/11 = 29

I'm kinda in the freak out mode right now. I really feel i should be easily breaking 30 but I can't seem to do it. No idea why PS is so hard for me..

ahh...

AAMC 3R 10 8 10 28
4R 8 8 10 26 < PS got kinda nasty
5R 8 8 9 25
6R 10 7 10 27
7R 8 8 8 24 Not to thrilled about decrease here.
Kaplan

FL 1 11 8 9 28
FL 2 10 7 9 26 Dissappointed in VR , but kaplans VR is weird.

AAMC 8: PS7 BS9 VR12
AAMC 9: PS7 BS10 VR12
AAMC 10: PS9 BS11 VR9 <--one week ago, since then i've given up studying for any classes and pretty much given up my social life.

Although that last drop in VR may be attributed to the two annoying people at the library next to me group studying in the quiet section during that hour... I would also like to improve 2 pts on Bio, 3-4 on physics and get my VR score back up...is that even possible with three weeks to go? i'm going to feel really unaccomplished if after all my studying i only raise my score from my diagnostic like 2 points. if i'm not ready i'm not taking it though.

aamc 9-cbt

PS: 13
V: 11
BS: 14

38

just wanna get this exam over with, i cant wait any longer to take it

Well, definitely don't feel as good anymore 🙁 . Any advice RUknight or killinsound, how your breaking that 35-36 mark--- I want to break 38.

Kaplan Diagnostic - 27
CBT 4: 29
CBT 5: 25 (I took this one at the public library - DON"T ever do that)
CBT 6: 31

Real Deal on April 7. My problem is I do great in Verbal - about a 12, and then get less impressive scores in the sciences 8 - 10.

5: PS10 VR11 BS11 32

Kind of disappointed since I got the same score on 4 (slightly different spread), and a lot of people said 4 is the most difficult. Going through and reviewing I think I kind of had an off day because over half of my missed questions in these sections were stupid mistakes.

How does everyone think 8, 9, and 10 compare to 4 and 5? Are there certain topics that are hit on more heavily in the more recent tests?

Stupid mistakes....implying it is impossible for you to make real mistakes...

I think you'll survive.

Kaplan Diagnostic: 27---PS:11, VR:8, BS:8

Kaplan Full Length 1: 34--PS:11, VR:11, BS:12 (got 90% of verbal right...)
Kaplan Full Length 2: 35--PS:13, VR:12, BS: 10 (46% on O-Chem kind of hurt)
Kaplan Full Length 3: 34--PS:12, VR:10, BS: 12 (verbal was hard!)

Please God I just want to get this over with and not have to worry about it.
Taking 7 classes and the MCAT is bad bull.

Actual Goal: 55Z

...😴 ...

What a dream THAT was!!!!!

Ok, so after I woke up from that dream, here's the damage:

Kaplan Diagnostic: 9P, 8B, 8V: 25
AAMC 3: 8P, 11B, 9V: 28
KFL 1: 9P, 10B, 6V: 25 (VR is DESTROYING me)
KFL 2: 10P, 10B, 9V: 29 (Getting interesting)
AAMC 4: 8P, 11B, 9V: 28 (less interesting)
KFL 3: 12P, 12B, 12V: 36 (OMG!!! balance, and broke 30!)
KFL 4: 11P, 12B, 9V: 32 (...uh oh)
KFL 5: 11P, 12B, 7V: 30 (WTF is going on with VR?!)...

I'm taking a break from full lengths... obviously in the right neighborhood, but I'm hoping to make a breakthrough that stabilizes VR in the 10-ish range, and maybe even tops the KFL3 score? Will spend the next 3 days reviewing KFL 3, 4 and 5 in depth, working on VR passages from Kaplan and EK, finishing up some Kaplan section tests, and gearing up for another (hopeful?) breakthrough. Plan to take at least 1 or 2 more AAMC FLs before the real deal on April 7th.

Good Luck Everybody!!!:luck: :luck: :luck:

Did anyone else get creamed for some reason on KFL #3 for verbal?

Phys 13 Verb 8 Bio 15 (WTF mate?)

I am sitting her trying to figure out how you guys get 15s on bio...

How well do you know the organic and biology material? Do you feel as though you are very good at answering the questions based from the passages or on knowing the content inside out? Obviously both if your getting a 15 but which one do you think has a bigger impact?

Future doc how did you jump from 12 to 15?

For Bio I feel like there is a way smaller curve than PS and honestly because I finished orgo recently i hadn't reviewed it much until like a few days ago. But finally I got to the point were it was just some basic orgo concepts I was missing, so I've been hitting the orgo stuff I didn't remember hard the past 2-3 days. In addition, the scoring scale on Kaplan is much easier than I think on the AAMC FL. But really, I feel like making yourself really sitting down "recognizing the weaknesses" is not always easy (especially if your a bio major, cause you like to think you it most of this stuff), but if you take the time to do it you definitely notice a difference afterwards. Hope that was somewhat helpful and to not rambling.

AAMC 9 today

PS : 15
VR : 11 (argh looks like 12-13 was a fluke)
BS : 14 (51/52 = 14 🙁) but i honestly did not know that 1 question so yeah.

as for you sexyman,

i would say that my BS $kiLLz are based on my knowledge more than my critical reading skills. the reason i say this is obviously my critical reading skills aren't that great as can be seen by VR. i think if you are hitting 13's consistantly luck and not losing focus will bring you up to the 15. On the Ochem note... i have not studied ochem a dime but i just finished ORGO II with an A+ so i dont feel i need to.

p.s. i only write an outline for the essay I never write them out when i'm practicing.

really? i think PS has a much tighter curve.

you can generally miss around 2 and still get a 15 on BS whereas on PS you usually can only get 0-1 wrong to get a 15.

Killinsound and Futuredoc,

If you have seen Kaplan's biological sciences review book, do you think that the content in the biology section is all of the content required to get scores in the 12-13 range? Assuming you know all the organic already...

i cant say really... i read the whole EK bio book before i started kaplan and I was scoring 12-13 then after finishing kaplan i started scoring 13-15.

in all honesty i probably can't attribute that increase to kaplan because at the same time I was doing the ek 1001 book wich I actually just finished.

so I think if you did all three of those it's really possible to get a 13-15. remember, once you hit the 13 level getting 14 and 15 could be a matter of 3 questions.

I think that the Kaplan stuff really gives you a solid background, but I also feel bio requires a lot of almost seemingly random knowledge. So, if you have a solid background in biology to begin with I feel like that Kaplan can be a good supplement but def not everything you need to know. I am just finishing up the Kaplan class, and the only materials I've used have been the Kaplan materials.

Right I think I know what you two mean. I'm just frustrated because I have done very well in all of my Biology courses like A&P I and II, Bio I and II, Cell Bio, Micro Bio etc (I am a Biology Major) and am only scoring an 8. I am also taking orgo II now and the material we are covering is popping up all over the MCAT.

I think futuredoc you might have a point that I feel like I should do well without studying for it and thats a problem. I just began reading the kaplan book (bio part) a few days ago so hopefully my next bio section will be in the double digits.

Anyone who is taking the kaplan course and is used to the kaplan full lengths having difficulty on some of the aamc CBT questions because they seem to simple and you over analyze them? Seriously I seem to make the most asinine mistakes on simple material because I think that it must be more complicated than it is. I'm guessing due to the seemingly higher level of difficulty in the kaplan full lengths, specifically physical science.

i used to... dont worry you get used to it

So I'm a little worried...my physical sciences score keeps going up, but bio and verbal are stalling! I have stopped studying physical sciences just to focus on the other two but it is not working. MCAT on the 7th eek! I don't know what to do...please help.....

AAMC#9 13P 9V 8B

well at this point I would just concentrate at one. If I were you, I would pick bio because it's the easiest to go up in after physical sciences. If you have only taken those 2 mcats i would take a couple more just PS section to see if your score stabilized or if the material covered in 9 was just something you did better.

regardless, i think studying verbal for you would be ineffecient time given that you are taking it on the 7th. you MIGHT jump up 1 point on VR if you study really hard from here on out, but you WILL jump up at least 2 points if you study bio from here on out.
