Ok, we'll roll with this. I'm sketchy for knowing that wolves have had roles that are not typical in a "basics" game, that we have been playing with many more roles than are typical in a basics game, agreeing that a tracker role for wolves does sound like one of those "beyond basic for wolves," but being unsure what roles would be "basic" beyond the seer and a killer.
Am I wrong? Is a wolf tracker a typical role? Why in hell would they need it? Anybody care to go against all the reasons laid out for why it shouldn't be a role?
IRL games I've played it has been either bare bones: wolves and villagers, maybe an alpha, police/detective... or it has been heavily themed with lots of crazy roles, kinda how we have been playing. That experience would lead me to think that even a wolf seer sounds like an extra character. Someone laid out a rough chart for villager roles and how basic each of them was, but nothing for wolves. I think I'll go back and lynch that person for withholding info that might implicate a wolf. And because then, my question would have been answered rather than me being lynched for trying to figure out what you guys (or rather Dy) consider to be "basic" wolf roles.
