That was my impression, too. I think that everyone who has interviewed is on a ranked list together. Baylor calls the top X number of people at various times, regardless of when they interviewed.
Yep. This is exactly right, according to CrazyEyes, a guy who was on the Baylor AdCom last year and used to post on last year's thread before deleting all his posts (The reason I know this is b/c people have quoted him in last year's thread while replying to what he had said, so actually not all the stuff he said truly got deleted). They just have a big long list of people that gets bigger after each interview session, and they just take a certain number of people off the top at the meeting the AdCom has after each interview session. From what CrazyEyes said, he knew people who had interviewed in September and got accepted in March and even off the waitlist in May-June. So for those who have interviewed in September, fear not! There is still plenty of time for things to happen. I know this sounds hard, but have faith in yourself and faith in God that things will work out. I think they only start waitlisting people in April if I'm not mistaken.
This is what BaylorLion, a Baylor student, said in last year's thread:
One knock I do have on my school (and I don't have many) is that they're not as good as their peer institutions about notifying applicants about their status. Don't lose hope - I was complete for months before I got my interview, and then I got accepted a week or two afterwards. Others in my class got the interview invite right after their secondary was submitted and waited months to get in. It just varies - don't try to outthink the process too much, and best of luck on getting the interview.
And Baylor's policy is to not fill up the class until they've interviewed everyone they're going to - so there's probably still a lot of spots up for grabs. This school is slow in making decisions, but it's pretty fair, I think, and it means they do a pretty decent (definitely not perfect, but decent) job of finding great future physicians who will be great Baylor students.
This is what TexasRose, another student, said:
I do know several people in our class who interviewed in the Spring (Feb or March?) and even a few who got accepted off the waitlist in early summer. Baylor truly has a rolling admissions policy. It makes people crazy with all the waiting, but it means that everyone gets a fair shot.
This is what ms.a, a current student, on last year's thread:
For those of you who are waiting, last year I was complete in September, received an interview invite almost exactly a year ago this time, interviewed near the end of November and was accepted in April, with a phone call on a Tuesday afternoon. Yes, I waited almost 5 agonizing months. I hated it when people said hang in there, it can come at any time, but I guess they were right.
This what drwlo, a current 1st year, said on last year's thread:
I interviewed in early Nov and this was how they explained the system to us. While your on the tour they rank you from 1 to 6 and then you get placed on their huge ranked list for everyone who interviewed. Every two weeks they let in so many off of that list. However, they told us that the chance of getting in the first possible time is slim to none and that it takes at least two if not three times to be accepted. I think they want to see what the groups after you are like as well. I wasn't accepted until Dec 20th.
So there is still a lot more time and hope for all of you. I'll be pulling for you guys who are still waiting!
