1year and Meso, good luck! :luck: I didn't have my transcrips either, but they are in now, too.
Hey girl! November 18th wasn't that long ago, Friday will be two weeks. They told me that they wait at least two weeks before they invite anyone; besides I bet Thanksgiving slowed them down some. Hang in there! :luck:

How did you think the interview went? What about at Southwestern?

Hey! I PMed you early last week, i think. But, Southwestern was good. Of course (as you might presume) I found Baylor a really good fit. The interview was decent. Walked away feeling like I have a good chance. Talked to Dr. Phillips before any of my interviews, so I felt good about that. Just getting antsy. wish me luck...

Everyday I have voicemail message on my phone my heart skips a beat. Then I realize it's not from Baylor!

Why is it taking so long!?!? arggg!

Hi guys! I got the phone call acceptance the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. When can I expect a formal letter? I'm leaving the country shortly and will not be able to respond within two weeks to any mail for the next several months.

I got the letter six days after I got the call. -

Hey Hobbes, hope you had a good thanksgiving. And to everyone else still waiting, it seems like it has been quiet today so maybe some good news will come our way tommorrow.

<sigh>

Another day. It's 9 PM now; doubt Baylor will call this late.

God this is so pathetic. It's like waiting for a girl to call that you gave your number to the past weekend! Sheesh! 🙁

1. Get the girls number....don't give her yours. Its better for business.

2. Baylor is much more of a floozy than the girl at the bar. She leaves you hanging for months...plus Baylor is actively seeking out hundreds of men and women that are better than you, while leading you on. What a bisexual Slut!

3. So when do y'all figure that we've screwed the pooch????
For example I interviewed Oct 7th. Its coming on 2 months. Have I screwed the pooch? should I be waiting for a waitlist letter rather than a phone call. I dunno.
I figure if you haven't heard maybe 3 months post-interview....thoughts? I wonder how many people they've accepted and such. When do they accept the bulk of applicants? Do they wait till after all interviews?

I can't tell you how great it would be to get in. But there isn't a whole lot of that goin on right now. Good luck to everbody.

Good luck, Meso. I hope you get in. :luck:

My current theory is that they're adding in interview batches in one at a time at each meeting. Last week was the 10/14's batch, and the 10/21 will hopefully be next. The only deviation from this was that the batch that got hurricaned out was slotted back in when they were supposed to have been interviewed rather than when they were interviewed. This way people that interviewed earlier keep their advantage for getting their things in earlier. Anyways, hopefully us 10/21 folk will hear back soon. Those later, maybe you guys can hold off a little bit on the hanging around the phone, and those earlier, you're still in the mix, and I hope everything works out for you guys!

I don't think it has anything to do with when you interviewed, but only with where you make the list. If you're 40 on the list, you won't be called prior to the first 39 even if you interviewed before them. They make that decision right after the interview.

Hey Meso, I know how you feel. I am tired of waiting too but, decided I should go out with some friends, no use sitting around and I had a killer P-Chem exam today 😱 and bobito I feel ya and I am coming up on 3 months. When I interviewed they told us we will be ranked and continually reranked and that they let off a few from the top of the list when they make calls. So what I am hopng is that the list really is dynamic and that they will eventially decide that I am someone who would be an asset to their program and perhaps they need a little more time to realize this. I have waited this long and I am not going to give up hope yet. We are all in this and can hang on together and for now I am going to turn my attention to my finals and hope for some action next week.

That was my impression, too. I think that everyone who has interviewed is on a ranked list together. Baylor calls the top X number of people at various times, regardless of when they interviewed.

Yep. This is exactly right, according to CrazyEyes, a guy who was on the Baylor AdCom last year and used to post on last year's thread before deleting all his posts (The reason I know this is b/c people have quoted him in last year's thread while replying to what he had said, so actually not all the stuff he said truly got deleted). They just have a big long list of people that gets bigger after each interview session, and they just take a certain number of people off the top at the meeting the AdCom has after each interview session. From what CrazyEyes said, he knew people who had interviewed in September and got accepted in March and even off the waitlist in May-June. So for those who have interviewed in September, fear not! There is still plenty of time for things to happen. I know this sounds hard, but have faith in yourself and faith in God that things will work out. I think they only start waitlisting people in April if I'm not mistaken.

This is what BaylorLion, a Baylor student, said in last year's thread:

One knock I do have on my school (and I don't have many) is that they're not as good as their peer institutions about notifying applicants about their status. Don't lose hope - I was complete for months before I got my interview, and then I got accepted a week or two afterwards. Others in my class got the interview invite right after their secondary was submitted and waited months to get in. It just varies - don't try to outthink the process too much, and best of luck on getting the interview.

And Baylor's policy is to not fill up the class until they've interviewed everyone they're going to - so there's probably still a lot of spots up for grabs. This school is slow in making decisions, but it's pretty fair, I think, and it means they do a pretty decent (definitely not perfect, but decent) job of finding great future physicians who will be great Baylor students.

This is what TexasRose, another student, said:

I do know several people in our class who interviewed in the Spring (Feb or March?) and even a few who got accepted off the waitlist in early summer. Baylor truly has a rolling admissions policy. It makes people crazy with all the waiting, but it means that everyone gets a fair shot.

This is what ms.a, a current student, on last year's thread:

For those of you who are waiting, last year I was complete in September, received an interview invite almost exactly a year ago this time, interviewed near the end of November and was accepted in April, with a phone call on a Tuesday afternoon. Yes, I waited almost 5 agonizing months. I hated it when people said hang in there, it can come at any time, but I guess they were right.

This what drwlo, a current 1st year, said on last year's thread:

I interviewed in early Nov and this was how they explained the system to us. While your on the tour they rank you from 1 to 6 and then you get placed on their huge ranked list for everyone who interviewed. Every two weeks they let in so many off of that list. However, they told us that the chance of getting in the first possible time is slim to none and that it takes at least two if not three times to be accepted. I think they want to see what the groups after you are like as well. I wasn't accepted until Dec 20th.

So there is still a lot more time and hope for all of you. I'll be pulling for you guys who are still waiting!

How about this modification: people are added to the list the day they're interviewed, but preference goes to the person whose interview date was earlier. So they're accepting all the 6s right now, but the earlier invites have prerogative over the later invites for acceptance. Thus towards the end you'd have the opportunity to be accepted within a couple weeks, but right now in the process there's still a lot of 6s on the board, and they have yet to dip into the 5s.

I wish your theory was true, but I'm pretty sure that some post-10/21 people have been accepted already.

people who are out of state should not lose hope, between june 1st and july 1st quite a few out of staters get the call

bump...............
waiting since 10/7, seems like soo sooo long ago. Thinking back, I still remember how excited I was on Oct. 15, naively thinking that my phone might ring. So silly.

Oh well, at least I still have Feb 1 to look forward too. As long as I get in this application round, I will be very very grateful.

And good luck to everyone who are still hoping and waiting for the good news.

I got into Baylor........

haha! My sister is a freshman at Baylor U, and everytime we get mail from her college I freak out when I see the name Baylor. Alas, no invite thus far.

haha, maybe trying to figure out the system is just too much work and emotionally investing. just gotta keep busy and news will roll in as it comes in. in the mean time, that chronicles of narnia trailer gets me excited to see the movie every single time without fail. i just hope they don't start overplaying it...

congrats to everybody that's in, and best of luck to everybody else still waiting!

I didn't mean to give anybody a heart attack! Sorry, I hope you get in, and if not...you DO know that it'll be okay right? You'll get in somewhere else, and think about the other 98% of the world population who does not have a college education, the other 94% that is living in poverty, and you will feel better. I always do 😍

Haha, I think next year I'm going to need a great deal of medication, since I haven't even applied yet and I'm a nerve wrack already!!! LOL.
And by the way, your name should correctly read LaFuturaDoctora. 😍

everyone go out and enjoy yourselves, don't sit by the phone, once you get into medschool it'll be alot of work, so enjoy your time, make new friends or create better bonds with the ones you have now, and most of all don't worry

the cycle never ends, now its medschool, then its residency, then fellowships, then jobs, then marriage (well maybe not int that order 😛 ), just enjoy the time u have now

quite a few i know in my class got their call during the summer

Affirmative, FastForward. . . but since I've been a West-Coaster since I was 4 (WA then various parts of CA) and my parents are nouveau East-Coasters, I'm trying to gather a stockpile of info that might convince me to overcome my stereotypes and actually move to TX. It's mostly the heat/humidity and the urban-ness off Houston that are the biggest drawbacks I've noted thus far, but the school itself is awesome. I just wish it were in, say, Virginia or NorCal. 😉

oops- meant to pm you.

Keep in mind that a lot of people that Baylor accepts early are probably also hoping for top-10 acceptances, so I'm sure Baylor is one of those schools with lots of wait-list movement. I <3 Baylor, but there're a couple of schools that would def. make me think twice about where I'm going. (Guess which ones? *looks at her signature*)

Also, nothing last Friday? Maybe this'll be the week! (Esp. since many schools have finals this week which means people will be heading home for the break. . .)

Good luck all.

i don't mean to bash anyones hopes by writing this, but it is true that a greater percentage of acceptees matriculate here than the average top 10 school (i.e. on average there is less waitlist movement at baylor than a top 10 school)

seilienne said:
Wow. Count me mistaken. Thanks for the clarification, MED04

i didn't mean to be antagonistic, you can check out the number of acceptees & matriculates for yourself, i think there was a post about that

i'd love to see hard numbers, but i wouldn't be surprised if it was a little higher because of texas students who choose to accept because of the hometown discount.

goodeats said:

and out of staters that get the discount after one year

Yeah. . . wow, this place has definitely gone from being a last-minute add-in to a very possible and tempting option.

Imma keep my spot, thanks. 🙂

Now. . . Dr. Bradshaw, fill up the rest of my possible future class with SDNers starting Friday!

(And I didn't think you were antagonistic in the slightest - was just surprised is all 😳 )

They are calling today (interview 10/21). Best of luck to all!

I interviewed on 12/2 (and am going ABSOLUTELY NUTS even though I know they don't call people for at least two weeks). What happens if you match at a Texas school on Feb. 1 but don't hear back from Baylor until May/June? Do you pay the deposit in Feb. to reserve your spot in the other school's class just in case? Would doing that mean you were completely and irrevocably committed to the Tex school?

All I want for Xmas is a phone call from a guy named Major..............

It gets better. The longer you wait the less you expect a call. Hopefully, you'll get your call 2 weeks post-interview though.

I think you should just reserve a spot. However, its my understanding that you aren't completely and irrevocably committed to the school. You might not get your deposit money back though. I thought the date was May 15th or something like that anyway, but I don't really know.
