Be brutally honest with me.
What do you think my chances are at MD schools? I have not applied to any DOs. I am a current applicant for this cycle hoping for Fall 2020 matriculation.

What are your GPAs without the masters figured in? (MD doesn’t combine undergrad and masters GPAs but DO schools do). If you were trying to bring up your GPA it would have been better to do a DIY post bacc since those grades would have been included in your uGPA.

Where do you live in IL? SIU focuses on a particular geographic area- south of I80. If you can present a strong case for wanting to practice in rural areas you could apply but don’t be surprised if you don’t get an interview.

You probably should add several DO schools.

Good luck.

Thank you for your reply.

I have not built a strong relationship with any DOs for a LOR.

Why don't schools factor in grad grades but factor in DIY post bacc? I took the same classes in my M.S program that pre-meds take during undergrad (advanced bios). great preps for medical school and I get a M.S out of it.

Be sure to tell SIU that.

Your uGPAs (c and s)are very low for MD . You have a really great MCAT.

You have a lot of OOS schools on your list. Did you use the MSAR to develop your list? Are all of the OOS schools you’ve listed noted for taking OOS students with your stats? Have you applied yet?

Sorry I didn’t see your final questions. There is a feeling that Masters GPAs are inflated. We are expected to do well in a graduate program. Your transcript is submitted as a grad student. So those grades are figured separately.

Are you saying you took undergrad classes for your Masters(... I took the same classes in my M.S program that pre-meds take during undergrad (advanced bios). great preps for medical school and I get a M.S out of it.). If that’s so, I find it interesting. But the issue you have is a very low sGPA and a low. cGPA and a really gooD MCAT.

Tell SIU in your secondary. If you don’t receive one you could try writing to the Dean and explain you used your parents address for security but you’ve lived in Central IL for five years etc.

And AMCAS will separate it all out and each year will be listed separately. Were the ugrad courses you took as a grad student different numbers?

Your reach schools are unrealistic with your GPA and you also have many state public schools that accept few non residents with your GPA and no connection to the state. I suggest these schools:
U Illinois
SIU
Loyola
Rosalind Franklin
Rush
Medical College Wisconsin
Western Michigan
Wayne State
Oakland Beaumont
Creighton
TCU-UNT
Tulane
NOVA MD
U South Florida
Wake Forest
Eastern Virginia
Virginia Commonwealth
West Virginia
Penn State
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
Seton Hall
New York Medical College
Albany
Vermont
Quinnipiac
Loma Linda

1) Your chances are low at OOS (I think @candbgirl pointed that out)
2) Your chances over all rank bottom quarter to bottom third at best
3) get rid of all your reach schools, all UC schools, Indiana, Minnesota
4) why are there no east coast schools like Albany, NYMC?

I will disagree with @candbgirl about DO. I am not a fan of mixed applicants (in your case low uGPA/high MCAT and Grad) doing both MD and DO in first cycle. These are the ones who get into DO but have an II from MD and then struggle over whether to take the DO acceptance. Unless you wrote a compelling PS with lots of selfless service, which is counter-indicated by being a high level athlete, which to many adcoms is self-serving position as well as appearing to the be "jock" who got by with ok grades 'cause you were on a team, you dont have a warm fuzzy image. I would have waited until you finished the MS to apply.

In sum, you have weak GPA and a weak image. As I tell all applicants assume that you will be rejected and continue to enhance your record. Since you are finishing the MS, that is taken care of.
I really appreciate this straightforwardness. Thank you so much!

You will find that at some schools a Division 1 NCAA athlete is a plus. It depends on who reviews your application so it is not possible to predict which schools.

Thank you for your wisdom!

If there are any adcoms out there, my fellow student-athletes and I would love to hear your opinions!!
