You seem to have a large amount of trust in politicians and media. I tend to be a skeptic. This is a somewhat unprecedented situation and the Democratic Party seems to be in a tight spot. They seem to need certain things to happen and those certain things have not fallen their way in the past few weeks, beginning with the debate, Butler, PA, and, most recently, Biden reaffirming his intent to remain in the race.
Then, he suddenly resigns from the campaign via Twitter (X), a platform denounced by many because of who owns it. He presents a letter not on letterhead from the White House. In addition, none of his close advisors or White House staff had any advance warning and found out the same way we all did.
That doesn’t seem like “no evidence.” It also doesn’t seem like the way that something so important would be managed. If it was completely his decision and that is how he and his team chose to manage the situation, I guess it shouldn’t surprise anyone. But it certainly lacks professionalism, if that was actually the way they planned things to occur.

I remain skeptical of the entire operation. I just hope they at least had the decency to let Joe know of his decision before putting it on Twitter.

This just reads as conspiratorial thinking to me.

He has covid so he has been in isolation. Maybe that's a hoax too as Trump suggests?

He's isolating in his home in Delaware, is it normal to not use White House letterhead when he's not in the White House? Seems like it could be normal to me.

I think it is absolutely reasonable for him to project confidence up until the moment he decided it was time to step back. How weird would it be if Biden was publicly hedging about his election prospects before ultimately bowing out?

I don't know anything about his signature.

Should he have alerted his staff beforehand? Why? Leaks from the staff would play into more chaos right?

Is releasing the information on X really that weird? Maybe I guess given who the owner is. I follow the President on X so I don't think it's that weird.

There is no accepted procedure for how this should have played out.

Maybe your skepticism will pay off and subsequent news will show an elaborate conspiracy. I remain skeptical of your skepticism.

This is the same Harris in 2020 who had a pretty unremarkable/poor presidential campaign and had to drop out due to single digit support.

It's pretty awesome how one man can unite such a fracture prone party against him.

Harris and Dems have raised over $100 million since Biden dropped out yesterday, record breaking numbers.

The hype is real. If Trump doesn't chicken out of a debate she will crush him in one.

Fox is throwing everything at the wall to see if anything sticks. She's a "threat" to democracy. Making fun of her laugh. She is simultaneously too tough and too soft on crime. She is a "DEI hire" who is "a little uppity". Reusing the same birther allegations they threw at Obama. Focusing on her dating history. (1)

Meanwhile over the past 24hrs Trump is calling Biden's covid diagnosis a hoax, already saying he won't debate Harris, and arguing that Republicans should be "reimbursed" for their campaign against Joe Biden (lol).

So far, they're having trouble villainizing her properly like they did with Hillary. Make no mistake, they'll find something that sticks with the conservative audience though.

I can see what is possible and I am unburdened by what has been.

What you fail to realize is that Harris is not running against herself. She is running against Trump. Elections are choices.

If Harris was running against DeSantis (or Brian Kemp), she would lose, but she is running against Trump.

Kinda weird we haven’t seen or heard from the President. Besides COVID is there something else seriously going with him? To resign via Twitter and no public statement is kinda unprofessional for a President. At least when Lydon B Johnson withdrew from his candidacy, he gave a speech.

Exactly.

My point above. Elections are choice. You put Haley against many democrats, she will likely win. On the other hand, you put Trump against most democrats (eg., Shapiro, Roy Cooper etc...), it won't be even a contest.

There's a lot of hypotheticals we could go down.

Any scenario where Trump lost the primary - he almost certainly would have run as an independent out of spite thereby splitting the ticket.

If Trump died or for some unfathomable to me reason withdrew. I'm seriously skeptical that the MAGA base would be as motivated to come out.

I don't think a Haley candidacy would be a lock. Probably reduced turnout on both sides in any scenario without Trump.

I believe the vast majority of states have sore loser rules wherein if you run as a D or R in the primary and lose you can't run as an independent in the general.

She was the assigned Border Czar by her boss. She literally never showed up or addressed the border issue. She literally showed up once for photo op and put in the corner for 3.5 yrs. We literally never saw her face in public for 3.5 yrs.

Please, someone explain to me what she actually did as Border Czar. Yeah I know it wasn't official but she was named point person on the border when Biden took office.

Because they agree on the course for America. Government policy should aim to improve the lives of working Americans with pro-jobs policies not Democrat government dependency and undermining the working class for jobs and housing with illegal aliens.

Do you know the dems have been better than republican in almost EVERY single metrics when it comes to the economy in the modern era? Don't believe what I say or MSNBC or Fox News. Look it up yourself.

I vote on social issues but if I was voting on the economy, republicans would not get my vote.

Workforce participation is a funny thing. My brother and brother in law are both retired in their 50s. They don’t participate in the workforce and they are both doing more than fine.

It's crazy how fast this materialized when it was not preordained. The delegates and Democratic party coalesced around their preferred candidate without infighting.

"Oh, Biden's out? Who's going to beat Trump then? Harris? Cool."

One of her first official campaign messages and she is already stumping for reproductive freedoms. That has been and likely will continue to be a winning message for dems since Dobbs. Former prosecutor vs convicted felon.

A lot can happen between now and the election, but the dems have a tailwind for the first time in a while.

It’s funny that you view the party choosing the candidate and not the voters as a positive. By funny I mean horrifying. It doesn’t get much less democratic unless you consider Hillary’s primary fixing.

The people chose Biden-Harris, it's telling that you ignore that fact. Biden stepped off the ticket and endorsed Harris. Harris rapidly gained broad party support. The only people I really see complaining about this are conservatives. And, let's be honest, anyone voting for Trump has a tenuous commitment to democratic norms. Everyone knows Biden could die at any time. Harris has always been a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

The rationale for things playing out this way makes a lot of sense. Practically speaking, any serious primary challenger KNOWS they're going to have an uphill battle after the Biden endorsement. They know they had to make the decision to run against Harris THAT DAY. They weighed the likelihood of beating her as low and saw positives with staying out of a "mini-primary", one of those positives could be a potential VP nomination.

Republicans have never helped the working class.

Tax cuts for corporations do nothing to help workers. Businesses hire based upon demand for their products. If demand is high, they hire. If demand is low, they lay off. Taxes on their profits make no difference.

On the other hand, tax cuts for the masses (aka consumers) will driven demand, but Republicans don't generally deliver on that.

Want to reduce welfare? Then increase wages

If you are a worker, it's far better to be in a blue state than a red state in terms of worker protections and benefits.

The only reason corporations leave blue states is because wages are higher and land is more expensive.
 
Just to go off topic for a quick second, (R)s don’t like DEI or Affirmative Action as it may place someone who is less qualified in position by skewing the weight of certain qualities in a specific direction?

But why do Rs need the electoral college then? Weighting some votes, to make sure the little guy is heard, more than other so that even if you lose the popular vote, you can still become President. I think there is potential for Trump to lose the popular vote for the third time.

Lol. You can't FORCE people to run for President. Like, what is this argument? There will still be a convention and any Democrat can still announce they're going to run against Harris, the Biden delegates have been freed and could theoretically vote for someone else.

You can't draft Newsom or Manchin to run for an office they say they don't want. The virtual roll call does complicate this a bit, but it doesn't change the idea that any dem can throw their hat in the ring.

I'm not arguing with anyone. It's a statement of fact. They are taking an unpopular person that voters didn't choose and don't want and shoving them down everyone's throat.
