Hello friends, we meet again. Let the season begin!
Same😟...and it sucks because we have ZERO control of it. I just hope the programs I applied to understand. Looking back at old threads, it appears majority of interviews came in late july and throughout august so I think it should be okay. At least I hope! Good luck to youSubmitted my application but my letters are still stuck being "processed," whatever the hell that means. Hopefully I don't get punished for this. :/
I submitted without letters and emailed each program afterward.I decided to apply on the later side and haven't submitted my application. My letter writers are still working on things, but the rest of my ERAS is as good as done. What do you all think I should do? Should I submit and then e-mail programs that my letters are coming? I'm trying to go a specific place and I'm just hoping this doesn't hurt me too much.
Good to know! I'm also wondering like what is the deadline for things? It seems like this is different from residency in that programs are differing because some programs I'm applying to say that the deadline to submit ERAS is 9/1 and then others don't even give a timeline.I submitted without letters and emailed each program afterward.
Yeah I think it’s program dependent. If heard some programs will accept an email stating interest and have been offered an interview that way. Fellowship applications has such a different sense of intensity, or lack thereof, so I believe reaching out to a certain program and communicating your desires to be there maybe a lot more impactful this time around compared to when we did it for general psych residencyGood to know! Programs reached out to me and specifically said they would review my application "when it was completed," so I'm fairly certain they don't review it until they have everything from you.Do programs offer interview invites for applicants who completed everything but their 3 LORs-pending whenever our authors write and upload them? Seeing who may know somebody who did over the past few years. Thanks
I submitted late (couple of days after applications were released), with LOR still pending. I assigned the last LOR to programs once it was processed into ERAS. Many programs are still reviewing applications, you still have lots of opportunity for interviews 🙂For those who are getting interviews, when did you submit your application? I'm getting nervous because I recently submitted. Still waiting on one more letter of recommendation. 🙁 Trying not to get discouraged.

Submitted 7/17 but still waiting on 3 Letters of Recommendation.... somehow, I received an interview invite 😅For those who are getting interviews, when did you submit your application? I don't agree with this at all. If anything, it's a character flaw of your letter writers. If you submitted on time and your letters are the only thing missing, as a PD I'm perfectly aware that the applicant can't literally hold the writer at gunpoint to get it done and sometimes people are late on it.Having no letters by this point with a submitted application, it can suggest a major character flaw
Does anyone know if the University of Virginia is accepting applications this year? I'm not seeing how to apply / if it's possible.
Never say never. I ended up doing forensics after child!Ayyy! Best of luck everyone. Looking forward to our (hopefully) last ERAS season.

I interviewed last year and am a first year CAP fellow. Generally a lot less stressful. There is a lower proportion of applicants so they're more concerned about ruling people in than ruling people out. While child fellowship is more competitive than some people might have you believe (a lot of people don't get their top picks if they're aiming for super "competitive" places; so don't feel too badly if you don't get your top choice), it's still not very competitive and they have to fight for you just as much as you fight for them.Has anyone had an interview yet? Wondering how/if fellowship interviews are similar to interviewing for residency or less stressful.
Which programs are considered "super 'competitive' places?" Aside from if the program fills every year, I am not knowledgeable about this tbh 🙃I interviewed last year and am a first year CAP fellow. They are relative to who you ask but general consensus of the more competitive ones include MGH, NYP, NYU, Yale, Brown, Stanford, UCLA, UCSF among others.Which programs are considered "super 'competitive' places?" Aside from if the program fills every year, I am not knowledgeable about this tbh 🙃

I was planning to do CAP fellowship through my home institution but just found out last week that this would not be an option (d/t attending staffing, could be confirmed by my program leadership if needed), so I am in the unfortunate position of applying a month late. Somewhat luckily, I was planning on applying earlier this year so I will have the application together and submitted to programs by tomorrow or Wednesday hopefully. In addition to the name brand hospitals, there's also an applicant preference for the city. So any established program with a good reputation in a desirable geographical area is going to be more competitive.
Sure, a lot of spots go unfilled, but you have to look at where those spots are being unfilled as well.
In any event, I honestly wouldn't stress too much about the competitiveness of a program unless you're super research focused, in which case your application is likely different than the average applicant. You're tacking on 1-2 years of training over the baseline requirement for practice. You should do it at a place where you feel comfortable. A lot of folks get jobs in the area they train though nothing stops you from moving.
You should also figure out what setting you want to practice in. A dedicated children's hospital is a very different place than an institution that happens to have a wing for kids.
I sent in my application last week and have several interviews. Just send an email to programs and let them know your application is complete.I was planning to do CAP fellowship through my home institution but just found out last week that this would not be an option (d/t attending staffing, could be confirmed by my program leadership if needed), so I am in the unfortunate position of applying a month late. I'm trying to gauge how SoL I am - I was originally hoping for a big named program out east or some select state-school affiliated fellowships elsewhere. At this point, are these realistic possibilities? Is there anything I can do at this point to increase my chances?
You rule, good to hear. Thank you. Good luck with your interviews!I sent in my application last week and have several interviews. Just send an email to programs and let them know your application is complete.
