How much of a red flag, I'm not so sure. I'd personally go with a well prepared, early application with 5 solid recs versus a well prepared, but late application, with an average committee letter. Perhaps you apply with single rec's and then submit the committee rec when its available?

I understand baseball, and am a mild supporter of the Dodgers, but I can't for the life of me sit through a game on tv and not be bored to death. Football is the only sport where I can be just as engaged watching on TV as I would be at an actual game. I just wish I could do the same at the collegiate level, but there's no team here 🙁

Imagine going to a D1 school with 25000 students and your school's best team is freaking volleyball. Doesn't that just sound like the most ridiculous thing ever?

My school doesn't have a college football team either - and it sucks.

Mine didn't either, that's why I gotta support my state team Jayhawks! Rock chalk!

Dude, this sucks. Why the huge gap between June and September? Our committee works from May - July because they know how important it is to be early. I wouldn't skip your committee letter (because if your school is known for having it, it would be a red flag if you don't have one), however, I like your idea of discussing it with your state schools and contacting some other schools to gauge their opinions, it might work in your favor.

Take your MCAT when you are ready and beast it.

+1 This totally sucks. My committee letter will also probably be late but because I know it's going to be good I am definitely waiting for it. Good idea to talk the issue over with a few schools.

My news is that I am still waiting on my FAP waiver to go through and I'm freaking out about it. They haven't gotten my signed letter yet and I'm starting to worry it's not going to be verified in time. I want to submit June 1st so I need that waiver! Aahhh, the stress of this process has only just begun! lol

Bio I briefly reviewed some stuff and I'm luckily in ochem right now. Yup, 3 was my first FL too. I'm hoping for some miracle to improve in one month! What the hell, life! Good luck to you! Agreed. Schools that I was like "I'm never going to apply here, ever" are now being reconsidered because I peruse their website and something about it interests me, so I add it to my 'consider' list. ~_~

Sounds awesome. Are you applying to Hopkins? This summer research gig seems like a great opportunity to get to know the school some more, explore Baltimore (be careful, lol), see how awesome the hospital supposedly is, etc.

Ya, that seems really weird that your school limits you on how many school you can apply too. I guess if your list is under 20, then it doesn't really matter!

phnerd - I got a 25 my first time and a 33 the second. you will be well prepared and nerves will not be a factor. adjust your plan and keep pushing! we'll all get there if we give it our all!

Thanks! No synthesis because it's a lab exam... honestly I'd take synthesis over the optical rotation of glucose anomers ANY day... ugh.

And my school list is a joke; obviously I can't finalize it without an MCAT score but right now it's:
-every private school in the country except hopkins, harvard, wash u, morehouse, howard, and meharry
-every public school in CA and NY

And yes, I'm aware that this is like 70 schools hahaha. 🙄

Yeah I scored between a 9-11 on the AAMC verbal sections and found myself unpleasantly surprised by my 7. My AAMC tests ranged from 28-34. Best of luck to you and knock em dead come July!

Oh and because of said verbal score I'm applying somewhere on the order of 34-35 schools.

Milwaukee is a decent-sized city. Worst case is that they say no or that you visit and hate it, but if you're not that strapped for cash as far as secondaries go, it's worth applying to as far as midwest schools go.

Well my friend who got her MA there says that BU has this awesome pub on campus for its students that has a ton of beers on tap as well as a full bar so I'd go there 😀

As for me, I'm a bit strapped for cash, haven't taken my MCAT, I'm a CA resident, and my GPA is super uncompetitive so I have no idea of where to apply. I'd love to go to other areas like Chicago, Boston, New York, Philly, and NO but gotta wait til the MCAT is done.
