The only judging I'll do is of your superior intelligence. An extra $78,000 (much more when you add on the interest) is a LOT of money. Think of all you can buy with almost $100,000 that you now WON'T be spending!!!

This has seriously been THE hardest decision of my life. But after speaking with many, many people about it (including a residency counselor at MN), I can't justify paying $164,000 in OOS tuition at MN vs. $86,000 at Mizzou (once I get in-state).

Eh I had the same decision (with higher prices) and came to the same conclusion. I'll help you beat up anyone who starts dissing.

Actually, it seems more like the enemies are usually made by suggesting that it is ok to pick the higher priced school.

As long as a person has thought it through (as clearly you have), I support them!

My heart is still at Penn (not helped by the fact that I've been living here for 3 years and was already a student there once...), but every day I get a little more excited about going to my IS and having an extra ~$100K in my pocket at the end of the day. As many people have reminded me - there are always externships, as well as internships/residencies (if you plan on that route) that could give you another chance at your "dream" school.

I know MN is an amazing school, but the fear of that much debt was keeping me up at night-and I hadn't even started school yet! I hope I haven't made any enemies in this decision making process, you all have been so supportive! PS: The deposit went out in the mail this morning-so I can't change my mind again, promise! Haha..

Yes to this! Ohio was my cheapest option, (and I did love it, so that helped) so I am going here knowing I will end up at Tufts one way or another.

Thank you! And just to let you know, I went to undergrad at Cornell. It's a wonderful, BEAUTIFUL campus, and I'm sure you will love it. I also have 3 or 4 friends from my major attending vet school there in the fall as well, and they're all really nice girls. I think you made a great decision!

I too would pick a cheaper option if I had one so I know the dilemma. Lots of debt gives me ulcers but I suppose if it means no vet or vet + debt, I will pick vet.
