Just for a fun thread, I thought it would be nice to share our favorite comfort foods for when we get stressed. I usually just eat healthy foods, but when I need a pick me up, nothing does it better for me than a grilled cheese sandwich. What about you guys?

For me, it's pizza. But not just any pizza, it's gotta be the really good stuff. Though I didn't truly find pizza heaven till I moved to Richmond. Bottoms Up is heaven on earth. 😀

And chocolate of course, I am a girl after all. 😉

But yeah, had to back off on the comfort food when I'm stressed. A summer of comfort food while waitlisted gave me an extra 10 pounds to lose before my wedding in March. Luckily, I'm down 15 since I was accepted and started school in August.

i gained 32 lbs stressing out over waitlists, and in the end, it was pointless. i've lost that weight since then, but have a feeling it'll come back to that soon... :scared:

raw broccoli with french onion dip... I have no idea why it is a comfort food... but it always makes me feel better.

i excluded all comfort food recently. comfort food=weight gain. spa and massage is my "new comfort food" i came to the conclusion that the more calories I ingest, the more depressed and guilty i feel. a vicious circle. excercise and pampering is my new "comfort" solution.

p.s. peppermint tea and a glass of good white wine is not really a food, but it makes me feel great during tough times (a.k.a. right now)😀

I like broccoli and cheddar soup with French bread.

Not too typical, but very delicious

👍

Baked Cheetos are yum! Pretty much any kind of baked chip product from lays does it for me. What else? Well, I'm a health nut, and eat low-fat ice cream on a nightly basis, so I can't count that as comfort food since it's a daily indulgence!

If I'm super-stressed, it's always ice cream or chocolate.

If I just want smth yummy that's not gonna make me gain 92749123 pounds and break out, I go for tuna melts. 👍 Sushi also seems to comfort me.😕

Swedish fish. Or a good bowl of creamy soup.

those too. basically anything made of gummi material.

I think Swedish fish are made of candle wax. I'm with you on the gummi bears though. And when I was a kid, I'd slit a throat for a bag of gummi cokes.

a yogurt and a chocolate/vanilla jello😀

also forgot my number one comfort snack, CocoaVia chocolates.

triscuits/wheat thins with sharp cheddar... or the Pepperidge Farm Verona apricot and raspberry cookies with some hot tea... mmmmm goood

Twizzlers, Dots, Almond Joy.

Mmmm and grilled cheese sandwiches, the more processed the bread and cheese, the better!

Mmmm.... cherry flavored candle wax.

A cup of raspberry/vanilla flavored coffee from the local cafe is great too.

Oh! And I can't forget about red duck curry from a local Thai restaurant.

In that vein, pad thai and deep fried bananas (not together, but they're both Thai). The latter of which I've only had once, many years ago, but damn.

The correct answer to comfort food is potato latkes, of course. But, for the culturally isolated, I'm willing to extend that to any food that places the potato on its rightful pedestal.

potato latkes = heaven on earth 😀

We have the most amazing Vietnamese place in SLC. The Pho is addicting... seriously I think they put crack in it because I can't stop ordering it.

Taro root is my favorite starch. Seriously, vastly superior to the potato 😍

It's good in a stew, good with meat, good steamed. Oh how I love thee.. let me count the ways.

Mangoes. Mmmmmm

but pizza and chipotle are close tie for second (although I feel horrible after eating a huuuge burrito from chipotle. It's just too much food).

My favorite comfort food is Nature Valley peanut crunch bars with a tall glass of milk (skim, of course).

Anything that might be "unhealthy"

I like going out to like applebees and getting a nice big cowboy burger w/ fries and ketchup and some coke. and of course pizza, that's what I eat when i'm studying to keep my spirits up 🙂

Flaming Hot Cheetos.

A banana nut muffin and some tea always make me feel better.

chocolate, cookies, and chocolate ice-cream

Funyuns. I find that any naturally occuring ingredients really gets in the way of the "comfort" factor.

jar of pb + spoon 👍

Wow! Now that's some pb dedication.

Have you ever tried to just put scoops of PB on a banana? Mmmmm. Soooo good.

Sunflower seeds.....they keep my mind at ease and I could just sit with a bag cracking them open for hours doing nothing else:laugh:

Hershey bar w/almonds and a Diet Coke.

Almost always works - lessens migraines, as well.

The frozen Bertolli dinners that are like a gourmet meal in a big bag.
They may cost $9 at Giant, but you just pop some of the contents in the microwave, press 2 minutes, stir, and enjoy 🙂

Yummy, saucy comfort food, especially when I'm feeling too lazy to cook.
