haha I haven't been obsessive about it, but every few days I log on and check. In the past week I've definitely begun checking more often..maybe every 3rd day or so. but I figure that when its up you guys will let me know right away on here, so I haven't been worrying too much.

Thats what i'm doin. Except it doesnt really work when I see the CSU thread updated every day lol i keep thinking "oman, maybe THIS is the time they post the decisions early"
 
I wouldn't be obsessively checking, except every time I see this thread bumped, it makes me go to their website! Augh!
 
I had a dream last night that I got into CSU via a receipt that had the words offered, accepted on the top. They were also nice enough to give me mayo as well! When I tried to check my status and call them I couldn't get through. Crazy dream, I'm going crazy. They need to tell us now!
 
I'm definitely in the "obsessively checking" group too! And now that I am out of school/work for 2 weeks as of today, I can really step up my obsessive SDN and admissions portal checking. "Single digit countdown" starting tomorrow anyone?!? I guess my brain is assuming that decisions will be posted on the 28th, but I think it says "the week of the 28th" so I suppose it could be any day that week.

I don't envy my family who has to deal with me for the next week while I fret about the decisions, nor do I envy them for having to deal with me afterwards! I will spend the following week either chattering endlessly about plans and details, or I will be totally depressed and trying to scrape together a plan for the next admissions cycle. All of my eggs are in the CSU basket...:xf:
 
I have been checking multiple times a day. I check at night before bed, then as soon as I wake up I check again....like they are going to post anything overnight!!

I did hear from someone tonight that the AdCom has met and they have their decisions ready. They didn't want to post during finals week and freak anyone out and don't want to tell us next week because of Christmas. I don't know how valid this info is, but here is to Dec 28th!!

us OOSers have to laugh - i mean, with a 1% chance of getting in (1269 apps for 18-20 spots?), what else can you do?
 
shoot, i thought i had at least a 2% chance! My chances have been cut in half
 
If that rumor is true, I appreciate not wanting the stress for finals but cmon, don't want to ruin our Christmas? Personally I'm well aware that my chances of getting in are next to none and a rejection around Christmas time isn't going to crush me any more than any other time.
 
I figured it has less to do with christmas, and more to do with them having staff there to handle the flurry of phone calls and emails they're going to get slammed with.
 
Did anyone seriously start the paper link count down until Dec 28th? I'm counting down but in my head, I'm afraid if I do it in some tangible way I'll go even more crazy.
 
someone suggested earlier that they might create a paper chain..you know where you take stips of paper and loop them to make a circle, then add the next one by looping through the first one...every day you take off one loop of the chain so the chain gets shorter and shorter as you get closer to whatever it is you are counting down for...

I didn't do it but just one more week!!
 
Does CSU SERIOUSLY only offer 18-20 OOS spots? 😱 That just seems downright cruel.
 
It's varies from year to year but based on past statistics they offer between 20-30 spots for OOS residents.

If you take off multiple loops off, will it make the decision come sooner?

If there are any AC's lurking out there.....can't speak for everyone, but myself, I would rather find out one way or the other than wait until after Christmas! Especially since the list is finalized!

Oh yes. It's a four (or three) day work week. The admissions committee posted that decisions would be posted on the 28th. There's no way they could do it in 2 (working) days. It was probably finished a week or two ago, I would guess. The list is likely sitting on someone's desk, just aching to be posted.

tick...tock...tick...tock...it's killing me.
 
I feel bad for the in-staters, because they actually have a shot, whereas mine, being OOS is nill, and even I can't wait!

Dude, then they should just send out an email with a giant note that reads:

"we'll give you our decisions, but we want to enjoy the holidays too. if you've gotten rejected, nothing is going to change that, so don't bother us until april. if you've gotten accepted, you have until april to sort things out so you can totally wait to contact us until after the new years. bottom line: DO NOT EMAIL, CALL, CHARGE THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE UNTIL JAN ____, 2010"

I promise I won't bug you!!!! please tell me????? pretty pretty please!?

I am baking and cooking like a maniac to take my mind off of it. My kitchen is piled high with all sort of candy and cookies. Now I am starting to make pasta by hand. So far it is working.....

Only 4 DAYS LEFT!!! 🙂

I wonder if they are tracking the hits on the portal website, and thinking how we all need to chill out, and wondering why we aren't listening to them when they said AFTER the 28th. Ha ha. I'm sure we look like spastic geeks to them!
 
I actually haven't been obsessively checking the portal because I don't hear until January 8th, but everytime I see this thread bumped up my heart skips a beat thinking maybe they decided to tell everyone sooner. Well good luck to everyone waiting. :luck:
 
What time do you think they are going to post the decisions? Most of the time any of us get emails its usually at 11:00. I just want them to post it when they get in on Monday, say at 8:30 or 9 am.

As for the server crashing, you think they know 1200 people are going to be obsessively checking that site and are ready for all of it, but I bet the server does crash.

I don't know where you're located, but keep in mind CSU's on mountain time. I'm on the east coast, so I personally don't plan on obsessing until at least 10am. 🙂
 
I'm on the west coast, so I'm hoping by the time I get up and get moving on Monday something's happened.

Also I hate to point this out (gone2dogs did mention it too...), but they did say the week of December 28th in most of the correspondence, didn't they?

True story... although with New Year's Eve and Day, hopefully that narrows things down to Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday...?
 
I have all of you beat, I'm in Hawaii right now, which is two hours earlier than the west coast. Even though I know I won't get in, I just want to get this over with. And they did say " the last week of Dec. (after the 28th), didn't they?
 
I'm going to be going postal by Monday. I'm going to try to hold off checking until the end of the day... we'll see if that happens.

I was in Honolulu in October (when I had to turn in my Cornell supplemental haha!) for a conference. It was during the time when it was three hours earlier and I had to have someone call and wake me up at 3 am to finish my supp essay and turn in the app. :laugh:
 
Even if they don't post until Wednesday (which would a lot of people around here a bit grumpy, I imagine), we might still crash the server checking first thing Monday!

I made the mistake tonight of re-reading what I wrote for my supplemental app. I sound simple-minded and possibly illiterate. Oh well, on to the next school.
 
I have nothing to add here, except that I feel compelled to post in this thread again!

I am unfortunately in the depressed, "I'm sure I won't get in," phase right now, after a rather optimistic spell. I really made great improvements in my application, including the two big things that were brought up in my file review last year... but since this is CSU, I am feeling like it will never be enough. But maybe!!!!

I really hope it is Monday... I had no problem sleeping on Christmas Eve (which was always a problem as a kid), but I have a feeling that Sunday night will be another story!
 
It's totally gonna happen monday! I know it!! We should all meditate on sunday night so we dont have panic attacks. Or post on here every hour until the morning (just kidding) 🙂
