i also got an interview... out of state... yay 🙂
ive been non stop checking my email the last few days and for whatever reason, ive memorized how many spams were in the spam folder (probably by seeing it there 1000 times) so when i noticed it went up by one, out of curiousity i checked it... and there was my UC Davis interview invite 🙂 not sure why it ended up in there... but at least I found it!
So just a question that maybe someone can answer... Ill be flying out from Boston and I am wondering what would be the closest and/or easiest airport to fly into? Also, is renting a car required?
And last but not least, am I right in thinking they have already picked out our interview day and we are calling to find that date out?
Thanks and congrats to everyone who got an invite!!!

Fly into Sacramento Airport; it's only about a 15-20 minute drive from campus. If you don't want to rent a car, take the airporter; it's only $20

Once you're in Davis, you can take the student-run Unitrans bus for $1 which will drop you off on campus. If you catch the right line (health center), it's only a 10-15 minute walk to Valley Hall.
I got an interview invite. Best Val Day ever.
Anyone going to the workshop/orientation on the 24th?
Major congrats to everyone who's gotten an interview! <3
I haven't gotten an email. Now I just wish I knew if that means it's over (do they send out all the emails at once, in a mass-email format, in one fell swoop?) or if there's still any chance I might get one (if they don't send them all at the exact same time). And I wish I knew if I will be getting a rejection email and/or snail mail letter if I DON'T get an interview, or will I not hear anything until April 1? The tension is killing me. 🙁 Even if I didn't get one, which I'm guessing I didn't since my email box is empty as of right now, I just want some sort of confirmation so I can move on with life and stop checking my email a bazillion times a day and worrying.
hey ana :wavey: i was wondering the same thing! hahaDoes someone know if they'll be sending out invitations tomorrow, etc? or was it just today??
I sent in a career diversity form, but didn't apply under VMOP (not sure if you were asking for people who did *either*, or only people who did *both*), and I got an invite today.also, did any of you Davis applicants apply under VMOP (vet med oppoortunities) and also the career diversity forms?
I'm guessing that if they're planning to do 200 interviews, then they send out invitations to their top 200 candidates. Some number of those people are going to decline, having changed their mind, already gotten in to their top choice, whatever. So then they'd have some open interview slots, and probably start contacting the 201st, 202nd, 203rd, etc., until all the slots are full. That's just a guess, though.so are notifications/rejections being sent until the end of this week or is today the BIG day for everything?

I think it's *possible* to get a DVM from Davis without much practical/hands-on experience. But that's only if you limit yourself to the minimum required. There are a *lot* of elective courses available, and I get the idea that a lot of them are hands-on. Also, you can do RAVS in the summer. You can get on the foal team (4th-years only?) and possibly other student clinical teams like that. Anyway, a current student or grad would obviously give a more informed response. But getting my hands dirty is what I'm here for, so I worry about the same thing and have found some information to suggest that you *can* get more practical experience at Davis if you want it.People are saying because there cirriculum is so heavily classroom based that may grads have a ton of knowledge, but aren't being hired because they need so much training.

Hey everyone there is a rumor going around my college that Davis grads are having trouble getting jobs because they don't have practicle experience! Just wondering if anyone else had heard this - I really hope it is not true - Davis is my #1.

I GOT AN INTERVIEW!!!!!! Currently doing a happy dance around the house while screaming 😀 😀 😀
I was wondering if anyone knows how many out-of-state people they're interviewing this year? I just called to schedule my interview and forgot to ask! Darnit! But I'd really like to know if they're interviewing on the order of 100 people for their historically 7 or so out-of-state spots, or if the odds are better than that. Or (gulp) worse. Anyone know anything?
Well, they're interviewing 200 people for a class size of 131 so it's unlikely that they invited too many out-of-staters when they usually only accept ~7. If you got an interview, I'd say your chances at this point are excellent!
Good Luck!![]()

Got an interview invite today!!!! (In state)
yeahhhhh!!!!🙂

I think this has to be one of those "call the school" situations. I mean, if you can't find it on their website then probably we can't either. 🙂does anyone know if (1) their acceptances are provisional on getting a B or better in the rest of one's requirements; and (2) i should come clean before i go down there to interview?
If anyone has any questions you can PM me. I thought it went really well, they were very nice and friendly. It seems like everyone says that, but it was definitely true. Did anyone else feel as if the interview just flew by? Afterwards, I just kept thinking about all the things they didn't ask about. But they were SO nice (different than yesterday; I had Drs. Cortopassi, Theon, and Boyer).
I can't believe we have to wait a month now until finding out! ACK!!😱

From what I hear, interviews used to be much more malignant - they'd pressure you, try to trip you up, ask mean questions, etc. - with the theory that they wanted to find out if you could handle pressure. And I've heard people say that they're realizing that's not a good way to select for personalities that will make good veterinarians. Now I think as long as you don't start out being a jerk yourself, they're much more interested in being supportive and finding out who you really are rather than seeing if they can make you cry. Makes sense to me...they were very nice - but all my interviewers (at ucd, wsu, csu) have been. perhaps it was a good year?
I interviewed at Minnesota, which vies each year with Penn for the #1 and #2 spots in terms of the largest caseload, and it was pretty much empty on the weekend too. I think they just probably don't really do weekend specialty appointments, so if it's a slow day for emergencies...I was at the workshop/orientation as well, and I was pretty surprised at how empty the place was. I asked a couple of people and they said they do usually see a lot of patients - I guess just during the week.
P.S I asked one of the first years; she thinks they invited about 25-30 out-of-staters to interview, and the number of spots offered has varied a lot over the last few years but won't be more than 8.

Hmmmmm, so let's do the math:
200 invited for an interview
138 will be offered acceptances (class size is only 131 but they're overadmitting)
25-30 interviewed from out-of-state
8 acceptances from out-of-state
So, out of the 62 interviewees who will not be accepted, a fair chunk of those will be the out-of-staters. I guess that will help out those of us in-state who got interviews, right??? Although, you still have to factor in the DVM/PhD candidates who already interviewed and the fact that many people accepted might go elsewhere so who knows????
Guess we won't know for sure until the end of March. Good luck to all![]()
