Hello,

For some apparent reason, I have the urge to re-apply again.
Listed below are my stats:

Took MCAT 3 times: 22, 23 and 501
GPA: 3.53/3.6
URM, disadvantaged
Non-Trad
Interesting Back story

I applied to 26 schools in late-September to early October, and submitted most of my secondaries in mid-October to early November (25/26)

I received 7 IIs.
3 Acceptances
3 WLs
1 withdrew pre-interview

Although, I am grateful to get into a medical school, I feel highly disappointed of my outcomes. Isn't the average for acceptances is 5, and for interviews is ten? I know I can't go back to the past, but if I can I would have submitted my primary in June/July and secondaries in July/August. I wouldn't wait on any council letter since that was submitted on Oct 23rd. If I only have taken the MCAT twice, I would have retaken the new one again. Or better yet, I would have waited this cycle to apply.---This the advice I will tell future applicants.

I am kind of embarrassed that I didn't even post the schools that I got accepted to on social media. Only those who are very close to me know.

For those who are on the WLs, I hope you get off 🙂. For those who are re-applying and applying, I wish you all the luck and best this upcoming cycle!

I am not sure, it is within my best interest to re-apply because medical schools would know that I got in last cycle 🙁.

Would you re-apply, if you were in my shoes?

BTW, I am neurotic, I am just pre-med 🙂.

Your results are incredible given your low MCAT score and late application, telling us there's something pretty remarkable about your story. If you applied earlier, it does seem very likely that "better" schools would've extended you an interview offer.

However.........

1500+ posts and a join date of 2009, I'm sure you've seen the countless threads about why it's a terrible idea to re-apply after an acceptance. Do you expect people to tell you that you're going to be the exception?

I think this post gave me cancer.

37-40 MCAT, around a 3.5, white, no red flags (that I can think of), and no acceptances. What the heck man, do you want to be a doctor, or are you just after the prestige?

Also can we talk about equality and affirmative action at some point.....

What you just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent post were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this thread is dumber for having read what you wrote. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul...

Excellent use of a Billy Madison quote. Bravo sir or madam.

This is so foolish that it made my brain melt and leak out of my ears.

No I think there are enough threads on this already

This isn't even neurotic.

We are all entitled to feel how we feel. I feel disappointed, that's all I am saying.

Yes, I am grateful I got accepted, but everyone has whatifs moments.
And some people are having "what if" moments where they are haunted about never getting into medical school. People who are probably much more deserving than you, and probably myself as well.

I learned the hard way not to post dumb s**t on SDN, I hope you will learn as I did. Although your original post is so insanely *****ic, I don't know if you possess the mental capacity to learn from this.

I really hope you joined in 2009 purely as an attempt to pull off the greatest trolling effort of all time...

Most people who apply with a 22, 23, and 501 would have their application thrown directly into the fire while the admissions committee pops bottles of champagne. So I commend you on what must be a truly extraordinary application otherwise. I know people with superlative stats who have no acceptances and you have three. Well done. But if you reapply you will never be a doctor.

If that's how I feel, that's how I feel.

Why are you bringing God into this? These are just my thoughts on the application process that's all.

I have a 37 MCAT and no acceptance!! You got 3 acceptances with your stats and you don't consider yourself to be the luckiest SOB on this forum??? How can someone be so delusional?

Delusional thinking runs amuck in pre-meds. I have seen these types at my university and have been utterly shocked by their pure disconnect with reality. I'm desensitized now.

Everyone deserves to get into medical school. No one is more deserving than the other. I can't make that call, only ADCOMS can.

I am sorry you feel this way. I wish you the best of luck.

I am not insulting you, so refrain from insulting me. Better yet, you don't have to comment on my post. Move on, and ignore it.

BTW, I am not trolling.

Thank you @bananafish94 ! I really appreciate it. It is hard to explain because most of the people on here don't know me personally, so they don't know my backstory.

My only two regrets are not applying early, and not having a higher MCAT score.

I understand that you are entitled to your feelings. We all are. However, the question of whether or not to reapply is not a question of emotions, it is a question of logical, analytical thought. Logically, your odds of acceptance are extremely low if you've previously turned down an acceptance, unless you had some extraordinary life situation such as a crazy family or health situation that was unforeseen. As you make the decision about whether or not to reapply, you need to set your emotions aside and ask yourself if you really want to be a doctor. If the answer is yes, matriculate at one of the schools that accepted you. If you decide not to matriculate, you are deciding that you do not really want to be a doctor. It may not be the situation you envisioned a year ago, but you need to play the hand you're dealt.

to be blunt, there seems to be little you can do about the MCAT score. Having scored three times in that range demonstrates that your test taking potential hovers around there

"Omg I got a 37 and got in nowhere" maybe you're boring.
Or they got screened out at many schools due to this thing called "yield protection." In some cases, it is harder for someone with an outstanding score to get accepted, due to a perceived belief of adcoms that giving them an interview would be a waste.

My friend, be grateful you got multiple acceptances and take the advice of others above me... TAKE IT AND RUN

Most definitely going to run with it 😀.

I am truly sorry you don't have any acceptances. Don't mean to come off as being ungrateful.

I am more disappointed than delusional.

Hell no. Take that elsewhere

Exactly! Take that somewhere else, lol
