Hello all,
About 4 years ago I was charged with a misdemeanor charge for being present on casino property while being under the age of 21( I was 19). With aamc, I wouldn't have to disclose any info about my charge because it was dismissed 2 years ago by the court. I also called the municipal court and they also stated: "There's no reason why you should disclose any information if it was dismissed." I also ran a background check before volunteering abroad a month ago and nothing came up on my background check. Should I still disclose any information to AACOMAS if necessary?

What does the AACOMAS prompt ask for?

What do secondaries ask for?

If they ask, answer truthfully, own the transgression and stop worrying. Only LUCOM will have an issue with you.

Being underaged at a casino? That's refreshingly novel!

"Have you ever been convicted of a Misdemeanor?"
I actually don't know what secondaries ask for.
What do you mean "That's a novel!" lol

Yes, some secondaries ask: "have you been convicted of a crime, even if it has been expunged?" or along those lines. If it asks that, answer truthfully.

Not "That's a novel!", but "That's novel!"
novel - new or unusual in an interesting way

Oh ok. ofc I would. But as for primaries?

AACOMAS doesn't include any stipulation that a misdemeanor should be excluded if it has been expunged. Include it. It is a small thing from a number of years ago. Be honest, be reflective, and stop worrying about it. As someone who also has a misdemeanor, there is really nothing we can do it about it now.

To each his own.
I have friends that were screened out from previous years due to minor infractions, and pressured on it at interviews.
Was not going to take that chance - and I'm here now!

New topic,
How low is your GPA if you applied to primarily MD schools? Bit risky, ehh?

I didn't even know that was illegal. My parents used to bring me to casinos all the time. Good thing I didn't get charged lol.

My misdemeanor is for driving without insurance from 7 years ago. I’m not too worried about it.

Well let’s just say my sGPA is around the 25th percentile at all the schools I’m applying to and my MCAT is at or above the 90th

What are you all talking about? A dismissed misdemeanor means that OP was never even convicted of the crime. If AACOMAS asks for misdemeanors that you have been convicted of, then OP's charge doesn't even fall under that as he was never convicted according to the details in the post (charges were laid and dismissed).

If a school asks or if AACOMAS asks for charges that have been laid, I would obviously disclose it as it falls under those standards, but if it's talking about convictions, it doesn't seem like OP was ever convicted. A dismissal is different from a conviction and subsequent expungement. Plenty of people are charged with crimes that are dismissed that they are found not guilty for.

OP, you should figure out whether you were actually convicted (did you plead guilty or were you found guilty, etc.)?

Hi, I plead guilty to avoid a much rigorous sentence if I didn’t want to cooperate with the prosecutor. So the plea deal I was given was an excused dismissal ,only if I do not break the law for a whole year. But technically it’s still visible when I search up my full name on the courts website. Any thoughts?
