##--DMU Class Of 2010--## part 02

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It has been so long since we had a written in OMM, I don't even have a clue as to how the test questions are written.

So are TPs on the test (I can't imagine they would be!?)?? Otherwise, I'm just reading through my notes (I'm not a notepooler), trying to catch the key points, and making sure I have all of the treatments and diagnoses down.

On a side note, your grandmother is a *****.

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Almost blew my dinner out of my nose with this one. Give her a break...she's old. And she IS dj's grandma...should say a lot.

Yea, the study guide on judy is really good. I'm going through all of that crap but no, TP's are on there (from what they say). I'm getting more and more scared by the moment.

Just to clarify with the above in bold. TPs ARE on the test, or they are NOT??

She is old, but that excuse only works for so long.

No. From what she said in class and what other have said...there will be NO tender points on the exam. (now watch there will be 30 questions on TP  ...just like she said there wouldn't be that many treatment questions on the last one. We all know how that went. 🙄 )
Man, I need some sleep.

Actually, the only questions on this test are tenderpoints. 70 tenderpoint questions, hope you guys are ready!!!!

And after that stunt she pulled today, she can find herself another PIMP. We're through, her and I... have fun in the home grandma!

I really don't want to study for OMM. How bad can it really be? I have enough catching up to do for Phys. What's that though? Oh yea, SPAL on Thursday at 3. I wish my last name was in the beginning of the alphabet so I could blow off studying for the SPAL until this weekend... *sigh*

Back to my cave-

Anyone remember which gender has a "higher" pubic symphysis? I think it's males... verification anyone?

Is that the sound of a future fellow giving a correct answer?

Yeah, higher on males.

Well, there are a couple questions keyed wrong for the Geriatrics, so that average will go up.

Seriously, wtf is going on w/ PD? Grandma's dementia result in her losing the forms entirely?? If so, it's back to the basement for her.

How'd you get this inside info, give her bottle of Lasix back?

well, the janitor has informed me that there "may" be to TP on this exam. (am I wrong on this people??)
There aren't any on the review sheets from last year but that doesn't mean anything. Can I get a witness??

I sent an email last week asking about them. I cited the lumbar tenderpoints (and I believe another example) when asking if they were on the test. I got an email back saying "no". Then, when I read the CCP notepool it said 'no new TPs'. Thing is, the lumbar tenderpoints (which I definitely gave as an example) are new TPs for this test. Now I'm just confused. I, personally, will not be studying them b/c I can get a lot more done timewise and if they are on there, it would only be 2-3 questions you figure.

I'll also say that I never remember a TP question being on a quiz which are the same types of questions for exams.

The only way I can see them testing TP is by testing the basics of strain counterstrain. Is it direct or indirect... active or passive... etc.

I can't see them asking where particular points are.

But I'm not them...

Seriously...

That was a kick to the pants.

I thought that was going to be more of a slaughter average-wise. I was thinking low to mid 70s.

Well, hopefully the written exam won't have any questions about whether the valsalva increases or decreases the AS murmur.

Seriously...

That was a kick to the pants.
 No kidding! I think that's the lowest average this class has seen all year. Who cares, it's PD...

As for TP's, I highly doubt they will be on there. Like misparas said, maybe asking what type of treatment it is (indirect, passive, crappy, etc.) but not specific points. If I'm wrong, we'll meet behind Ryan Hall afterwards and you all get a free shot at me.

For whatever reason, I'm always surprised by how low the PD exams end up being. What is it about them that constantly bends us over as a class??

It can only mean we're all going to be horrible clinicians....gasp! (insert sarcasm).

One word says it all: Randomness

See everyone...our thread is justified!!

(thanks to the person who sent this to me)

Can someone please send that to faculty?? We live in a different era than students did even 5-8 years ago. With the advent of myspace, facebook, blogs (in general), people are able to learn much more about something or someone with very little effort.

Students will definitely still look to a university's website for information, but inevitably they will come straight to the source - students. And any fool can tell whether someone is being "real" or just putting on a pretty little show.

Oh, I'm sure they are watching as we speak. :scared:
Maybe this will bring jamers back...

OMM > me. I am not a fellow. Holy crap geriatrics proved that I obviously hate old people according to that test. Physiology very well could do in my semester in a single fail swoop of the testing scantron. I'm skared.

Bone-doggy!!!! :hardy: Man, it's been forever. So last final for me is this friday, then no more neuro til boards!!

You going back to Utah during the summer?

Give me a ring when you get a chance.

Peace

And I'm going to completely jinx them, but...HOW 'BOUT THEM BULLS????

I can't remember a series where the margin of victory was so large, where one team doesn't get swept. Very odd, but we're bringing it back to Chicago for a 6th game!!!!

JBone-Can you drive past me so I can jump from the GS bandwagon to the Utah bandwagon?

You are damn right. How 'bout them JAZZ!!!!
Yea, I know...bandwagon will now begin to fill. At least now I might be able to get some studying done now that they have some nights off. But when I go home...oh yea....I'll be going to the games and I'll be a screaming idiot for my boyz in the WCF. Can't wait!

Just to be clear, is it correct that nothing will be tested over in regards to the human patient simulator demo from last week????

I have no clue about the human simulator. I thought just the integrated concepts could be on there, but really limited neuro stuff from that demonstration. Have I mentioned that physiology is scary, and that I think I'm going to puke..

I just checked the syllabus and it says that there are 6 questions from the human simulator lab on this test. eeek!!

I honestly don't understand how that's even possible. I got very little out of that demo, and the information had absolutely nothing to do with what we've learned for the last 2+ weeks.

Is it bad that I just printed my CONDENSED notes and they are 48 freaking pages 😱 😱
It's like a physiology book in itself.

Put a fork in me...I'm done. No...I'm WAY over-cooked and I'm about to burn.

I never want to see another nerve for the rest of my life. Freakin nerve bastards. 😡

I actually didn't mind the thing, the timing was bad though. Wouldn't it have made more sense after the Cardio/Pulmonary/Renal stuff?

You can't really study for the thing, just hope the questions are easy I guess!

That's precisely why I thought it was silly. Not to mention that the case was left open-ended like some sort of cliff-hanger to your favorite TV show. I think the human patient simulators will be very cool, especially if we're able to integrate them into our curriculum next year, but this particular one (with the timing of everything) just seemed odd to me. I guess they were just trying to get us pumped for next year?

Or for the PD beatdown that was handed to us the next morning.

Speaking of PD beat downs... I'm pretty excited about that SPAL tomorrow.

I guess I can cram 20 phys lectures into my head after 5pm. :scared:

Well, you and I both know that you will be a bad clinician if you can't! Not like we had Geriatrics and OMM this week or anything. 👎

Amen to that misparas. I'm nervous as hell for Phys. I've never started studying this late, and this test is worth 20% of our course grade. I'd rather have my SPAL on Saturday morning at 6 AM than the day before the biggest test in Phys. 🙁

Cheer to getting 2 hours of sleep tonight! 👍

Man, that's a luxury. Going for the usual 0.5 hours tonight. Man I love med school. Just went over note pool for that similated lab...stupid. They going to ask us about COPD?? 👎

Here's to going from a 90+% to ~70% in 1 test...
