I also interviewed on the 29th. I called last Thursday, and they said we should hear by today. Don't know what's going on! Hopefully tomorrow, I guess...
 
I interviewed the 30th and we also were supposed to hear today but nothing yet. Hopefully tomorrow!
 
I called the admissions office today and Anna said that the committee had not given their decisions yet to her to send out. She said, hopefully tomorrow and we will know via email! AGGHH!! I hope I get in here

Waiting here too . . . I don't know what day the adcom meets but the holiday last week may have gotten them a bit off schedule.
 
Emails should be coming out within the next couple hours! I just called admissions, and they are working on them. They also let me know that I've been accepted! I'm not sure what dates they have completed for sure; I interviewed 10/29. Good luck!
 
I got my acceptance e-mail this afternoon. Interviewed Oct. 29th. So excited!!!
 
T-Minus 12 Days for my (hopefully acceptance) email. I loved DMU! How did DMU compare to the MD schools that you visited for those of you that applied and interviewed at both?
 
DMU had great facilities and welcoming students and faculty. It didn't quite match up with one of my previous MD interviews; but it exceeded my other MD interview day with a better general atmosphere and closer look at the school and its students. However, this is only my opinion. You'll have to do what's best for you! Good luck!

Which day did you interview on? I was there 11/12 and was just wondering when about I should be getting an email informing me of the decision. Thanks!
 
Does anyone know if DMU has a defined policy for deferring a year after being accepted in med school?
 
Does anyone know how many interviews DMU gave out last year? And how many were accepted?

Some of the med students told me that they interview around 500 people. Their class is 220. So I would bet that they accept 300-400 people? People keep on telling me that getting an interview here is the hardest step.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an interview invite but I've been complete since 10/23 and am starting to get worried! When I called admissions last week, Anna Blair said that the admissions committee would have decisions either early this week or next.

I got the same response from Anna when I called yesterday. I was complete 10/19....36 days and counting. :xf:

My sister will be coming with me from New Jersey and we plan to visit Des Moines more thoroughly. If she wanted to check out the campus, would it be inappropriate for her to come with me on interview day? I don't think it would have been a problem at UMNDJ, but the agenda for interview day at DMU seems much different.

I don't think they'd actually kick her out, but I personally wouldn't want to be the guy with his sister tagging along. Enough pressure as is... Plus, I wouldn't want to share my free lunch with her lol.

Just have her explore areas of Des Moines you didn't visit. That'll make a great conversation on your (long?) drive/flight home. Good luck!
 
On my interview day, there was this guy with his wife tagging along and everybody was really kind to her. Of course, it might be cuz if he gets in, his wife will be living there too so being there for the tours, etc is impt to her also. Unless that applies to your sister also, it might be difficult to explain her presence.

I agree in every way. It's only my perception, but I think it's kind of nice to experience a school as all of the other interviewees. If I went with a family member, I would probably explore the current students, faculty, admissions, and other people interviewing less because my attention would be somewhat toward that family member I am with. Plus, all the people interviewing at DMU were pretty awesome and it was fun to get to know them. That being said, I'm sure DMU would be accommodating if you really wanted to bring your sis.

.... and BassCaster does have a great point with the sandwich...

someone in my interview group brought his wife with. she walked around and toured the school with us. the only thing she didn't do is go into the interview. it was no big deal. having company could help keep you calm.

DMU's awesome, now just waiting to see how my MD school interviews turn out.

Hey chemrun,

I already turned in a signed Conditions of Enrollment Form along with the entire $1,000 deposit. It is safe to say I have officially decided to attend DMU-COM the fall of 2010. Have you already turned in the form and the deposit?

Has anyone started a group thingy on Facebook? I visited this forum often the last few years and one of the first things newly-accepted applicants do is start a Myspace or Facebook page thingy. I remember thinking, "Will I ever get a chance to join a group?" LOL! Now I am on here asking if anyone started one. If I was a Facebook wiz, I'd have started one already. However, I rarely log in.

I turned in my $500 deposit about a month ago with official transcripts and the condition of enrollment form. Waiting to make another $500 🙁 Probably turn the second half in early 2010?

I'm really excited to start!

I turned in my form and deposit last week. I am pretty certain I will be attending next year! DMU has been one of my favorites since the beginning.

I'm pretty sure that we are in the same boat. I've been waiting to hear back for awhile now and am getting anxious! Hopefully by tomorrow, we'll both get invites 🙂
 
I just called admissions and was told that they are running behind on reviewing applications.

I was also informed that I was "complete" on 11/3 and not 10/23 when I received the complete email...looks like I'll be waiting a bit longer than I had expected...

How long, after they receive all the necessary documents, does it take for them to send a file complete email?

I am 100% attending DMU next year 🙂. $500 paid, Conditions of Enrollment signed and transcripts sent in as well! I will probably wait until after the first of the year to pay the rest of the deposit as well. I am looking forward to meeting everyone!

No joke! There were no Hawk fans in my interview so at least now I'm not alone!

About 2 weeks. I interviewed on November 12th and was accepted on the 30th.



On another note, I was accepted to both KCOM and DMU (my top schools) and after careful consideration, I have finally decided on KCOM!! DMU was a great looking school and has a lot to offer, but I don't think it was the right fit for me. Good luck to all and congrats to everyone accepted!
 
Just withdrew today also. Hope my place goes to one of you guys who want it the most =)

My interview is Friday. I've been checking weather.com a lot and it said the snow should finish up on Wednesday, so I think I'll be fine to fly out on Thurs 🙂 as long as the weathermen are actually right lol (and if they are, it looks like you guys are getting slammed with snow today!). I can't wait- I'm really looking forward to seeing DMU!
