^ Maybe just me but I wouldn't want people announcing my step scores on SDN, particularly if they were below average
I deleted it just in case. But for context this person has public ally posted and announced their step scores on social media and to our class. It was not a slight on the applicant. They worked very hard and were very transparent about their application to everyone.^ Maybe just me but I wouldn't want people announcing my step scores on SDN, particularly if they were below average
NW/U-Chicago > Loyola/UIC/Rush... there aren't really tiers on either side of the equation since programs on the same side are roughly equal. Differences include resources, admin support, patient population.Aren’t UIC and Rush better in Chicago? And also U Chicago and northwestern?
Full lists won’t come out for a while. DO schools are terrible at reporting outcomes.Fortunate to have been accepted to a couple of DO schools also. I am a premed interested in seeing the entire match list for schools. Can you all post those instead of Cinderella story match? thx.
How many applied? The gen surgery to vascular surgery fellowship is still very much doable thoughOnly 3 DOs matched I5 Vascular...f***
Since when does UPMC Mercy have an IR program, or even a DR program?Mercy or presby
If you're going to a DO school, why not make your account name DOtobeforme?Fortunate to have been accepted to a couple of DO schools also. I am a premed interested in seeing the entire match list for schools. Can you all post those instead of Cinderella story match? thx.
YOOO EMORY IM!!! Wow. Best IM match so far for IM this year from what ive seen. Thats a top 15-ish IM programGa-pcom
Also an Emory IM as well. Someone was asking about IM programs previously on here
They had one last year too, it’s seems to be becoming a trend lol.YOOO EMORY IM!!! Wow. Best IM match so far for IM this year from what ive seen. Thats a top 15-ish IM program
I think 13 if I saw that correctly? How many applied? The gen surgery to vascular surgery fellowship is still very much doable though
Yea you save a year which is nice but it’s soo competitive due to the small number of spots.I think 13 if I saw that correctly?
That is totally my back up plan as of now. I have always heard I5 is big into auditions and connections within the field as opposed to 250+ STEPs so we will see.
I think that’s all most people know beyond big deal places in their desired field that aren’t necessarily the places people expect based on name alone.Where do yall even learn this much about residency programs? I just look at the ones in geographic i want to live in and to see if they've taken DOs before.
Same here. It's weird. I heard about the legendary ortho match on here before realizing who it was IRL...My school doesn’t release a list of programs to us and it’s like pulling teeth to try and get ahold of it, but from social media some impressive matches I’ve seen this year from my school (DO):
-EM at Henry Ford.
-Derm at Vanderbilt.
-Rad-onc at Cincinnati.
-Gen surg at Mayo.

I don’t disagree with you. But can’t we at least be happy for like a week? At least the weekend?7101 senior DO students were in the match.
Yet it seems like match quality is being rated in this thread based on how many derm/ortho/neurosurgery/vascular surgery matches each school has.
There were 36 derm, 107 ortho, 6 neurosurgery, and 3 vascular surgery matches.
So are the results of the match really being based on 152/7101 = 2% of the students?
What about the other 98%?
What about the 10.9% that did not match?
How many were successful in the SOAP?
Well you have to add stuff like IR, integrated plastics, rad onc, top tier IM, psych, OB etc, ENT, urology, gen surgery at university programs, rads at upper mid tier university programs to that list as well.....7101 senior DO students were in the match.

I have no clue what you even are asking.. not everyone in Med school(do or md) wants to do something ultra competitive or be at a top tier place...? I don’t know anything about RVU Utah...not all DO schools had 1/3 of their class not match......So did RVU-Utah have a good match based on the small number of students in the programs you just listed or a bad match based on the report here that a third of the class did not match and went into the SOAP?
Dude no one is judging how good match lists are based on those matches alone. Lists aren’t out yet, we all know DO lists are pretty weak overall, but even since I have been on SDN there have been more and more exciting matches coming out of DO schools. Until we have full lists to post it is just fun to talk about the crazy stuff.7101 senior DO students were in the match.

right but i don't even know what the big deal places are lol. Some seem to match up with name brand (Harvard, NYU) but I would think Cleveland clinic would be all star but I hear from a lot of people, at least residency wise, that is is not seen as uber competitive or top tier.I think that’s all most people know beyond big deal places in their desired field that aren’t necessarily the places people expect based on name alone.
Some of us have spent an almost unhealthy amount of time researching programs lol.... by some of us I mean NOT me......right but i don't even know what the big deal places are lol. All really solid but wow to the Vandy DermMy school doesn’t release a list of programs to us and it’s like pulling teeth to try and get ahold of it, but from social media some impressive matches I’ve seen this year from my school (DO):
-EM at Henry Ford.
-Derm at Vanderbilt.
-Rad-onc at Cincinnati.
-Gen surg at Mayo.
It is great to see top matches coming out of DO schools.
However, I think it is misleading to judge a match based on an incomplete picture of the results.
I just mean in general, though I've seen enough on here to know that there are exceptions everywhere (NYU taking DO for path but basically nothing else)What field?
Is that EM at Henry Ford Main? IDK if they've ever taken a DO.My school doesn’t release a list of programs to us and it’s like pulling teeth to try and get ahold of it, but from social media some impressive matches I’ve seen this year from my school (DO):

They have, there’s a few right nowIs that EM at Henry Ford Main? IDK if they've ever taken a DO.
Well, each field is going to have different feelings about the same institution so it helps to speak about this wrt each specialty.I just mean in general, though I've seen enough on here to know that there are exceptions everywhere (NYU taking DO for path but basically nothing else)
There were 6327 matched DOs this year. About 10% matched Into a categorical surgical specialty (603)(actually it's probably higher bc this doesn't include military, Uro, Ophtho matches) and 54% matched into either FM/IM/Peds.7101 senior DO students were in the match.

interesting. Makes sense of course but seems like that makes it even harder to parce through everything.Well, each field is going to have different feelings about the same institution so it helps to speak about this wrt each specialty.
Hot take: COVID did not affect match rates. Match rates went down because of increased numbers of applicants across the board.Match rates were down for MD and DOs (probably bc COVID).

I think it's more probable that BOTH played a roll. But in reality there were like 8,000 more spots than US applicants and clearly IMG match rate took the biggest hit (meaning less spots were going to IMGs this year). So I think interview maldistribution, programs taking more home/local students, limited audition (which in the past were basically free interviews) played a larger roll at the end of than increase in applicants.Hot take: COVID did not affect match rates. Match rates went down because of increased numbers of applicants across the board.
OSU-COM
Like 98% complete, 1-2 others from SOAP I haven't heard where they are going. Also a reminder that if anyone has any experience with OSU you'll realize why so many in-state/in-system matches. Pretty much everyone wants to stay in the state since most of the class is from OK. I think our pure match rate was 84%, with a 99% placement rate post SOAP. Notably we have zero ortho matches, although we did not have any competitive students go for ortho this year.

Good thing I said there’s no list from my school and that it was from social media. Also they do have derm? Could’ve also been someone’s SO who’s an MD. This was one person giving shoutouts to their friends and I had thought it was all from my school. I didn’t start in the class of 2021 so I didn’t recognize all the names. There's no Derm at Vanderbilt. Their list is on their IG page and there's no DO's on it.

Its a bit exhausting to see everything get more and more competitive/more and more people applying each year. I think my first year of medical school was when psych started to ramp up, I've heard OBGYN and Gas were rough this year but have no stats to back that up.Very well put. Agree strongly with the last few sentences specifically.
Isnt HFM a top EM program? Is that EM at Henry Ford Main? IDK if they've ever taken a DO.
