I said it was on the lower end because i had to work full time while doing school full time...and THAT i had to do because i am an immigrant and had to pay for school and support myself without any help from my parents.

there are multiple members here who had gpa's a little above the 3.0 mark and who got into their top choice schools or are already doctors.

I am proud of what i have done in my life and i do not need pitty. My self esteem is not on the levels that i have to use anonimous forums to pour out my anger on others and attck them personally for no reason....nor i come to the threads i do not like just to stirr up a fight and make myself feel a little better.

Hmm Guys lets cool it ok? So i wanted to say some stuff regarding that immigrant stuff, but by the time I came back to SDN wow..u guys took totaly different route LOL, chill!

First of all let me just say that you should go sleep off whatever is bothering you and not take it out on these people. It is so easy to be a big deal under your screen name, isn’t. If just life was so anonymous ha?

Ok so ….. The thing is we all hope that adcoms will recognize something in our applications they like, so that we finally get called up for an interview, or get acceptance or something. Sometimes, life is not fair game, so this game isn’t fair neither, and well, if there is anything that can attract attention to my application then why not put it on there? Kicia was hoping for the same and she is not looking for pity! You see…for some people problems consist of where to go for a vacation, or getting up at 2 am to get XBOX… for a immigrant problems are of complex nature. And these problems are not really problems that can be solved easily, it’s a more of a emotional burden that they lay off step by step after awhile. Maybe just instead of writing in abstract ideas, lets take an example of an immigrant’s life ( preferably one that belongs to a culture where people care about their family a bit more then to remember them only on 20th or so of December while standing in a line of JC Penny’s customer service)

So… these people leave everything they have, everything they know and love, and they come to this (or any other) country in search for a normal life. Now, not only that they don’t have any money, but also they don’t have anybody they know, the culture they encounter seems ridiculous. However, they don’t give up easily. They get two cleaning, or similar, jobs and go to school to learn/improve English. Eventually, they realize that this country gives great education opportunities, so they start college. While still working those low paying and hard jobs, they manage to make somewhat decent grades and move forward with their dreams…. So that’s in a nutshell.
Now about that burden I mentioned…. Immigrants have an issue of identity, they don’t quite belong anywhere for a while, because they left their own culture, and did not quite fit into new one yet. Every day there is something that reminds them of their country, of people they love… the things they went through. They wonder if they made the right decision, they wonder if its worth to leave family and friends just to have better lives for themselves. Also, they wonder what people they left behind are doing today, or if their loved ones have enough to eat. These things fade away but not completely, just enough to be able to not go crazy and give up. Now… if you compare a 3.35 gpa of such immigrant person ( Kicia I hope u did not have such hard life) with a middle class citizen who spend his life worrying about nothing and not overcoming any significant obstacles, whose gpa is worth more?

I am not saying that an immigrant has excuse to have low gpa and MCAT and to be allowed get in some competitive schools just cause she/he is an immigrant. I believe that Kicia, or any other immigrant has a right to say “I could have done better if I did not have so many obstacles”.

And trust me if Kicia had guts to go through some of these obstacles and made it this far, do u think she seeks pity for it??? She is taking pride in it! 😉 As well as any other person who achieved anything in their lives.

Just a quick quesiton. I am a foreign grduate with a degree in electrical engineering from India. I had my transcripts evaluated by ECE. I did most of my pre-pharmacy course work in the US except 2 courses. Now PharmCAS didn't allow me to add foreign school in teh schools section. Now how am I suppose to transfer 2 courses (Calculus and Physics II) from that coursework and make it a part of pre-pharmacy coursework. Obvioulsy when pharmcas sends my coursework to schools they won't see those two course simply becuase i wasn't able to enter them.

first of all graduates from other countries have no GPA. You get credit evaluation but without the GPA. I know for a fact becaus i also had a degree evaluated. they will only take your degree and credits but will not compute GPA.
So if your GPA for your few classes you took in CC is 3.9 then hats off to you

Hello All,
I submitted my pharmcas application today and I had my summer courses listed in the regular completed coursework section NOT in "Planned/In Progress Section".
I knew my grades from the school last week and hence I decided to move those courses from "Planned/In Progrss" to regular completed section. Updated transcript was on it's way and i found out that PharmCAS moved those courses back to "Planned/InProgress" section. So now i have to wait until December to Update my courses. What the F@#$&.???
I wanted the schools to see a bigger picture with my summer grades but now they won't.

Any advise or am i stuck with this until December???

haha didn't even had half of the pre-reqs when he stated that his GPA was 3.9, 3.6 or whatever lie...🙄
