Drexel decision time

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone from Michigan or if anyone that goes to U of M is planning on going to Drexel. I noticed that WHYADOCTOR was accepted at Wayne, does that mean you are from Michigan also? I just received my acceptance from Drexel yesterday and plan on going here. Good luck to everyone! 🙂

nope...but i interviewed at Wayne, drove around Grosse Pointe and toured the Henry Ford museum...does that count 😀

i got my acceptance letter. dated 3/22, i interviewed 2/27. so that's 3 weeks, pretty fast actually.

i'm still debating at this point, but i think i'm leaning towards SUNY upstate. equally good school, state tuition after a year, i didn't like philly very much, i don't really care for pbl. so yea... my parents want me to make a comparision list on excel for them before i say no, but i hope my spot goes to one of you!!

is drexel currently interviewing for its waitlist only?

hey...i got into drexel and wayne state, but i'm leaning towards drexel. and i'm from california...so for me the OOS tuition costs are crazy for Wayne State.

Some advice is needed please! It's now been 12 weeks post-interview for me and I still have that damn link on my page...(actually, it says "schedule an interview").
What should I do? I've called EVERY week starting week 8, and they are not helpful and say the same thing. Is this normal? I'm paranoid they lost my file or something (lol wouldn't put it past them)
thanks

I interviewed on March 19th (2 weeks ago) and I called the admissions office today to inquire about my decision and the lady said that a decision has been made and I should received a letter very shortly. Is that a good or a bad sign that the decision was made so quickly?

I interviewed 2/28 and my acceptance letter was dated 3/14 so your situation does not sound like a 'bad sign'. But, I don't have any evidence to suggest that it is a good sign, either.

I do wonder if they review more favorable applications quicker after an interview. I don't think there is any way of knowing this info.

Good luck!👍

I also interviewed 2/27 and I recieved an acceptance on April 2nd. Not sure when it was dated but I do know that my app was reviewed 3 weeks post interview. Also my interview was really short. Like they already made a decision before I walked in and all they wanted to do was see if I wasn't crazy or something.

My interview lasted exactly 30 minutes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed

Wow that's a quick turnaround. I interviewed a bit before you so hopefully my decision is coming soon as well. Is the "view your interview appointment" link still on your status page?

Has anyone received a decision without the link going away?

Does Drexel reject post interview?

Yes, the interview link went away.

I called the admissions office again today and they said that the letters went out yesterday. Good luck to all!!!!

Bzoris, we interviewed the same day. My link disappeared also just today. Freakishly, I also had the same feeling about my interview, which lasted exactly 30 minutes as well. But, I don't think I had found the sweet spot with my interviewer. She seemed to have a set of questions in her mind and just want to confirm and move down the list.
I did not call the school because with all the past posts, I figured that I would just check my link from time to time. Now with this, I am sure my letter will be here before next week this time. Anxious!
Let us know about the decision on you.

I interviewed about 4 weeks ago and my appointment linkage is still there. Does that mean no decision has been made yet? Should I call them? I don't want to be too pushy!

If you're worried your app has been lost or your mail has not been received, give them a call. You'll be talking to a secretory/assistant, so it will not have any impact on the decision.

My strategy has been to try to forget about it and wait. I never checked my "link" after I interviewed. It's a waiting game, and basically we have no control after interview day. I don't really like giving advice, but what has worked OK for me has been to find a construtive way to handle the stress: go for a long run; hang out with your significant other and have lots of sex; read a great novel; whatever. We all have tons of stress ahead of us, so I feel like now is a great time to keep practicing how to deal with it.

Good luck👍

That's easy to say for 4 weeks, lol. It's been 12 for me and I still have the stupid link!

Yeah, I know it sucks. This was my 2nd year applying, and I sat for the MCATs >3 times. But, you got interviewed, and that means your competitive. All the best!

sorry, just trying to remove a double post.

I spend my time reading a book called "Intern Blues", about the first year of residency, and try to convince myself that I would spare a lot of stress if I don't go to medical school. It doesn't work well. But I am convinced that there are way much more stress later and the stress now is bearable.

My interviewer also had a set of questions that he wanted to ask me. Initially, I thought it would be a conversation but it turned out to be and "investigation". He asks, I answer. And, at the end, I ask a few questions. But honestly I don't think this makes a difference. Admittance into medical school has a HUGE luck component. I know numerous people who have amazing MCAT scores, GPA, and extracurriculars, and have not gotten in anywhere. So, don't worry about how your interviews went - it is not a strong indication of whether you are accepted or not. Don't worry!

Anyone else on Drexel's waitlist? I know they don't release information over the phone, but how has it been in the past? Is it a large pool? Lots or little movement? I'm in the sorry situation of this being my last hope for this year, so any info is much appreciated... Thanks all!

I can tell you that waitlist movement has already started. I was originally waitlisted end of Feb., and accepted 3/29. I would encourage you to send them updates, extra LORs, etc. I updated with a pretty strong LOR and it seems to have worked.

where do u send everything to?
I'm not quite sure if I have the right address

I imagine relatively large movement on the waitlist because (A) Drexel is a large school (largest private school I believe), and (B) many people apply as a "safety school" (if there is such a thing for med schools). Come May 15th, I would anticipate significant movement.

That's good to hear. I'm another one who got waitlisted.(End of January in my case.) Got to keep my fingers crossed🙂

I interviewed 4 weeks ago but i still have an interview appointment link.. anyone eslse interview around 3/4-3/9 still have that link?

I interviewed 2/8 and called on thursday and got the "A decision hasn't been made yet" answer. Seems concerning that people who interviewed after me have found out about acceptances already. this is starting to feel like pittsburgh all over again....

interviewed on 3/19, received an acceptance today!

Congrats, Bzoris. Everybody who has gone through this grueling process and got an acceptance should have much silly time rejoicing.

I thought that you should have the letter today. I figured that if the letter was mailed out Wednesday, Friday or Sat. would be the day to receive it, On 4/6, I got my rejection letter mailed out from NJMS dated 4/4 🙂

I saw my Drexel link disappeared the same day as yours. I did not confirm with Drexel whether my letter was mailed out. Now I think I will call them Monday to see whether it was mailed out. It could take some extra time for the letter to travel to CT than to NJ. If yes, Monday I will be coming home with a very curious heart.

I'm sorry to hear about NJMS. I am on their alternate list and am trying to get in. If not NJMS, then Drexel.

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone that interviewed the week of 03/25 have their link go away. Congrats for all those that got in. I really loved Drexel so keeping my fingers crossed. I've been checking constantly for the link to go away: ).

I interviewed the week of 3/25. I checked yesterday and my link is gone. I don't know when it disappeared or what it means. It's been less than 2 weeks. I don't know but, this quick response makes me more nervous than a slow one.

Hey pickmedoc

From the looks of how it has been for interviewees before us, I think it's a good sign. You should call them and see if they've made a decision on you yet. Good luck!

So I was accepted last week and when I got my packet, there was no information on a 2nd look weeked. I called to ask about it and the guy told me it was last week and that they didn't have anymore. I then asked if I could come down and shadow a student for a day and was told that all they could do was a 2nd tour but that there wouldnt be any opportunity to talk to current students!?! This seems pretty ridiculous to me and a poor way to keep accepted students interested. Anyway, I still have to reach my final decision (which I will do after I shadow a student at Downstate), but my spot should be freeing up soon. Just hard to imagine why Drexel wouldnt offer any opportunity to get to know the students or place better... Oh well.

Hey everyone,

long time lurker, but finally grew bored of being just a fly on the wall ... i was just curiuos if anyone's "To View Your Decision Click Here" link worked ... after searching through other posts, it seems that even accepted students still have the "Decision not available" reply when they click on the link ...

also, about the difference in time span between interview and disappearance of the "View your interview appointment" link ... do you think it has more to do with the interviewer you had ... perhaps, some people had interviewers who go to every meeting while others had interviewers who are just very busy and only go every 12 weeks ...

btw, my interview link disappeared on 4/2 and i interviewed the week of 3/19, but still no news ....

My To View Your Decision link still also says Decision not available despite being accepted, so yeah dont go by that. I do think that the length of time is dependant upon your interviewer more than anything else (though im sure some other factors figure in as well). and don't worry about not recieving your news yet - took me about a week to recieve my packet too. I would bet itll come over the next couple of days though. Best of luck!

That's easy to say for 4 weeks, lol. It's been 12 for me and I still have the stupid link!

Hang in there, I know someone who is 15 weeks post-interview and still has not went to committee. My letter was dated 2 weeks post-interview and someone I know who interviewed with me the same day with better numbers went 12 weeks post-interview. There's no rhyme or reason behind how many weeks it takes, although there is a theory that it depends on who you interview with and if they are around for committee decision meetings. The shorter the time between interview and link disappearing is good, but going longer is not a bad thing either... it's just mentally frustrating.

It really does take a lot of effort on the part of the students and faculty to put such a weekend together, so I can understand why there are not more such events. I think your best bet would be to contact a current student there and see if he/her will meet with you or if they can recommend someone else to meet with you when yuou visit. Several current students pop in and out of the Drexel c/o 2011 thread in the Allopathic boards. Maybe try asking there?

I was accepted by NYMC, and on waitlist at three mid tier schools (not sure how high, schools won 't say). Drexel just offered an interview. Can someone tell me how would you compare Drexel with NYMC as far as the school and quality of education, locations and city, and expenses? I am from Cali.

Congrats on your invite to Drexel and acceptance at NYMC. I can't really speak about NYMC but people seem to have good things to say about it on this forum. Personally, I loved Drexel while I was there for interview. And I am embarassed to say that I really discounted it as a school before going. The vibe you get is really great.

For me, the pros were: PIL curriculum (problem-based but they also have the choice of a lecture-based curriculum), facilities are nice (they have a really nice gym in the school), high-tech campus (being kind of a techie, I loved this aspect) e.g. microscopes in the histo lab are attached to computer screens so everyone can look at a slide at the same time, lectures are taped and put immediately on streaming video online

cons: hospital is 30 min away from campus, you may have to spend large parts of 3rd and 4th year in various hospitals all over PA

Personally, I would go to the interview and check it out!

You might want to PM Robizzle about this. He had some interesting points resulting from when he was actively comparing the two. Or just search through his posts.

I can see why some may not like that the hospital is a 20 min shuttle ride away... though for me, the hospital is in a prime location in center city and the med school is in a quieter area outside of the city (which helps for studying). That is more of a pro for me but that is only my opinion of course 😉

Waitlisted end of Feb., accepted 3/29. Does that count as waitlist movement? Maybe they realized they made a HUGE mistake the first time around 😎

Don't listen to that guy....he doesn't know anything and he makes up stuff just to get rid of you. Grrrrr.

Has anyone who interviewed from March 4th-9th heard anything from Drexel yet? It was during that Spring Break weekend. Should I can call? What their number?
