Drexel decision time

Rowdy, did you or anyone else receive anything either today or yesterday? They told me they mailed my stuff on Thursday. I live in NC and figured it would already be here. For those of you who have heard, where do you live?

look up. i got my finaid pkg today. I got my acceptance a while ago, though, and i got it at my school address in New Orleans.

They said they mailed my decision letter on 3/13 and I have yet to receive it. I live in CA though. The weird thing is I received a financial aid packet and it says congratulation on my acceptance. The financial aid packet was dated 3/15 and I got it on 3/17. Still my decision packet is nowhere to be found. = [ Can't I be 100% happy already??? without doubts?

Sorry about the slow mail everyone. Give it time, especially for the west coast. I have had things take 2 weeks to go between coasts through regular mail before. 🙁

Rowdy: I hear you about the debt thing. Drexel tuition/fees are brutal, especially when multiplied by 4 years and including accumulated interest for non-subsidized loans (even during residency). If you have any previous school loans like I do, it is even ore so. So I definitely feel your pain.

Interviewed: Feb 5
Accepted (via mail sent to my home in PA): Mar 12

=5 weeks

So...I'm on the waitlist. Question, for those of you who were put on the waitlist, what did you write in your letter "indicating your willingness to accept this temporary status?" Is there honestly anything I can write to help increase my chances?

Cheers,
A (Tar) heel among wolves

Ok, my interview was 3/7 (just 16 days ago) and I noticed yesterday that my interview link was gone. I know that that means that they've reached a decision on me, but I'm wondering if the quick response is a good or a bad thing. I still don't have an acceptance so suffice to say that I'm very, very :scared: . If anyone can placate my nerves, even just a little bit, that would greatly be appreciated.

ugh, 9 weeks post interview, and my status page still says "schedule an interview." What gives? I've called and emailed and no one has given me any sort of idea of when I should be hearing. This is so frustrating! 😳 But congrats to all you who've received good news lately!

Has Drexel sent any post-interview rejections? What's the trend for if youre ~10-11 weeks post-interview and still nothing?

Yes, they do send post-interview rejections from what I understand. But there is no predictabilty based on the time it takes to receive a letter. People have received acceptances even at like 12 weeks I believe.

It's not necessarily a bad thing. I received my acceptance letter ~10.5 weeks after my interview, so don't give up hope.

Lol, I finally get my acceptance packet when I stopped waiting for Drexel 😛

I interviewed November 16th but they didn't make the decision until March 14th, so those of you who are months out from your interview, the outcome may not be so bad.

Anyways, just posting to say I'm withdrawing from Drexel so a spot should open up for someone 🙂

I interviewed at Drexel on Feb 27th. I noticed that my link disappeared on Tue this week that was only 3 weeks after. I called them today and they told me a letter will go out next week. I have the same concern Soggun about a quick response. Does anyone know if a quick response may mean rejection?

I got my acceptance letter yesterday!! Soo excited!! 😀

Got my acceptance letter today. Yipppeee!!!

Interviewed 1/5
Decision made 3/8
Letter Dated 3/8
Packet postmarked 3/15
Received 3/23 (I live in CA)

About the $100 pre-registration deposit to reserve your spot....can you write a personal check? What's a certified check? Help..

I called and the guy got pissed at me and told me that he can tell me right away without even looking up my file that, given when I interviewed, there was no decision reached on my file. That was as far as I got, but I'm guessing that this guy was just wrong considering everything else I've read about drexel here... Whether it's a rejection or not, however, remains to be seen...

Interviewed November 29th - Acceptance letter dated December 12th (=2 weeks). One of my friends interviewed the same day and did not receive their acceptance until 12 weeks later. There are also people who are >12 weeks and have still not heard anything.

So, short turnaround does not mean a rejection but is in no way a guarantee for an acceptance. It is inevitable that there will be more people going on the wait list at this time of the year so if they have a strong feel for your application/interview in comparison to others that have interviewed and were not reviewed, they will make a quicker decision IMO. I do not agree with this and believe that everybody should be reviewed within the same time period, but that is not how Drexel makes its decisions. 👎

Like a previous poster stated, it may be a good idea to put off worrying about your Drexel decision due to the inconsistent times people are notified. You'll just make yourself go nuts.

Yeh, you need a certified check or a money order. A personal check is NOT acceptable. You can get a certified check from your bank (often requires a small fee, like 5 bucks or something). You can get a money order from your bank too, or even some other places like a 7-11 in some places. I went the certified check route.

Really? I used a personal check and it was fine.....

i am most likely going to drexel...have an acceptance at wayne...interview at temple (i'm not going)...but i liked drexel a lot...so i'll be ther in august! 🙂

Interesting. Their acceptance instructions explicitly say they require either a certified check or money order. But as long as it worked out for ya, cool beans. 👍 I just didn't want to rock the boat. Better safe then sorry! They probably only put that in there to ensure that there were no problems with checks bouncing, who knows.

for those of you planning on going to drexel, how do you plan on paying for your education. I got the finan aid packet today and it says that the tuition+fee= ~$43000, and board + transportation + other expenses = ~$20000. As i understand, there's a limit to the amount of loans we can take, so how are all of you planning to pay for your education? My parents cannot afford to pay for my education, and neither can I...so what do all of you think?

I'm gonna go rob a bank. 😎

Your federal stafford loans will cover the 43K. The other expenses are stated to show you up to how much you can take out in private loans. Loans, loans, and more loans, that is basically how I am going to pay for it!

Tuition is more like ~38k-39k. If you make wise purchase decisions, you can get all the books (that you actually need for year 1) for maybe $600 - the non-essential stuff you can check out at the library (in fact this is true for all the books, but you might as well buy some - you'll know which later on). If you dont have a laptop or computer gear, you can get a decent laptop for 500-800 bucks (look for Dell coupons - www.xpbargains.com - and their economical laptop models; other alternative is to get it from eBay or elsewhere).

There are additional loan programs to help cover your expenses once the federal stafford loan and your other FAFSA money runs out. You'll learn more about this from the financial aid peeps.

Good luck and congrats 🙂

thanks for the help 🙂

Whyadoctor: Sounds like we got about the same package (probably most people did). I am going to accept the federal loans of course for tuition and fees, and try to skimp by with as little as possible for the rest. Borrowing private loans as needed of course. Hopefully I won't need to get too much extra, but we'll see.

do any of you know anything about when the waitlist starts to move and whether or not it's ranked?

Is Drexel still interviewing?

i actually checked my status page today and saw that i could interview there, they didnt even send an email, how cute, i have grown insanely frustrated with this school, their administration is siimply terrible, i wont be going to this interivew

Hi NervousNed,

Did you apply online or via mail?
Because, whenever I check my status it says not submitted as I applied via mail.

Thank you

Hey there! It's Carlos from 2/28 interview. You havent heard anything yet from drexel, right? Had a fun time. I hope I end up at Drexel, philly was very homey and looking to leave miami! Good luck, and let me know when you hear from them.

(1st post!)

Carlos

i applied online, i had to call them several times to sort out the mess, i strongly suggest you call them to verify your app is in, and that online its showing an error, when i did this, who knows what they did, they fiddled around, and soon enough i was 'complete', and from what others have written, try and speak with the woman, not the man, so you can actually find out why it doesnt say submitted, they might have even lost your application, so call ASAP

I have an interview Monday, April 2. So they are still interviewing.

for those who have received a financial aid package, had you already filled out your fafsa application??

I'll be there too. Leaving tomorrow from NY and staying over. 😉

Hi everyone,

Is there anyone who actually found out their decision by calling Dr. Hanau or by email? When I called Drexel, I was told that it was school policy to not disclose decisions by phone. I am intensely curious about whether or not there has been an exception to that rule? Thanks! 🙄

He was wrong... I got that nice big envelope today. FIRST FREAKIN' ACCEPTANCE BABY!!!!!!!!!! I've been preparing for this moment for this entire application season, but I never imagined it would be this sweet. Thank you everyone in SDN and best of luck to all of y'all that haven't heard yet.

So, let's recap here. I've gathered from the posts that once you've interviewed and the "View your Interview Date" has disappeared, it means that they've reached a decision about you. Now ordinarily this takes about 4-8 weeks for everybody, sometimes as many as 12. Howzabout if it's two weeks? Would this hypothetical person have cause to really really be worried?

Nope you shouldn't be worried. There doesn't seem to be any correlation between decision time and acceptance. My decision link disappeared after 2 weeks as well. I got my acceptance letter the following week. There have been people on here who waited 10+ weeks and got accepted as well. Good Luck :luck:

Yep, I was also very concerned about the 2 week turnaround (2 weeks and 1 day to be exact) and when i called to ask if they'd reached a decision, the guy told me there was no way they had... Lo and behold now, about a week after i noticed the interview link went away, the acceptance packet came!

Wow! Congrats!

Although that makes me somewhat nervous, because I interviewed the day after you. I called today though, and was told a letter was mailed out to me this afternoon! :scared:

Good luck to everyone waiting!

I just read through the thread about your saga. Now I'm scared to actually call and confirm. But I doubt I'll be able to control myself :scared:

Thanks man. Don't get too nervous about the fact that it's a letter. Drexel doesnt DHL (like Stony Brook) or call (like Upstate) to inform of acceptances. A letter only means that you'll know of a decision soon, which is certainly a good thing. In any case, best of luck and keep us informed!

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone from Michigan or if anyone that goes to U of M is planning on going to Drexel. I noticed that WHYADOCTOR was accepted at Wayne, does that mean you are from Michigan also? I just received my acceptance from Drexel yesterday and plan on going here. Good luck to everyone! 🙂
