Well kids, yesterday (that would be Monday in case the boards are still messed up) my envelope arrived. And it said "while impressed with your credentials.....we invite you to be added to our Wait List".....aaaaarrrgh. I don't believe I have to sweat this out more. The letter was printed may 26th, postmarked June 2nd, and arrived here June 5th, FWIW.

But here's what got me thinking: you must retern the letter to the ADCOM either "yes" to confirm being added, or "no" if you don't want added. I have never heard of a waitlist requiring a written response. Is that normal? I thought schools just added you automatically and informed the student that "you've been added to our waitlist". Methinks they still don't have a full class and sent out a bunch of waitlists, so only the most interested and committted people to Drexel will reply back. The threads the other day about GW and other schools not liking to be considered a "backup" got me thinking about that. At least I hope so. Anyway, good luck to the rest of you.

I interviewed at Drexel in April. I'm still waiting to hear. From reading these forums, I realize the Admissions Committee is way, way behind.

I suspect that the class is full and that everyone - no matter how stellar your stats - is going on the waitlist at this point. Does anyone have any information to the contrary? Has anyone been accepted recently - like in the past two weeks?

I know they do...I wasn't implying that sopme waitlisters get an "option" form and others are just automatically put on.

I hate reading how everyone on this forum keeps saying Drexel's admissions is "way, way behind." Oh well, take the common advice next time and apply early. If you do that and you're competitive, you'll get an interview. If you interview well, then an acceptance will come only a few weeks after that.

Edit: There is only one element of luck, and that's whether your interviewer was sensible enough to submit the evaluation on time. Sorry if this is not the case, follow up with your interviewer(s).

How do you know when the people who post here applied? Did you apply to Drexel? Did you receive an acceptance "only a few weeks after your interview?" Do you have any personal knowledge or facts to support your assertions, or are you just generalizing your experience over time and across all medical schools? Or are you just talking out of your a##?

If you don't have anything informative/positive/constructive to add to the discussion, please spare us your insights. You apparently confuse us with people who care what you think.

hey all,
so ive been reading this thread for the past couple weeks, just checking in on how drexel applications are moving along, and i finally decided to register on this site.

congrats to the folks that have made it in. i'm happy for you guys, even though im getting more and more nervous about my situation.

apparently, it was the send to last week of interviews, so i guess they interviewed all the way into the first week of may. apparently they will be getting to my application this week (thursday). im not sure how much i can trust them, but if this is true, it sounds like the waitlist should start moving pretty soon.

also, i dont think the class is full yet. i received my interview letter way back in January or so, and was told April 28th was the first available day. however, when i got to my interview, there were people there who received their interview invitations just a 2 or 3 weeks prior. this makes me think that drexel hadn't filled up their class and they wanted more applicants to choose from... maybe?



anyway, good luck to all of you waiting, and i'll keep you posted on my situation.

oh, and btw,

drexel admissions IS behind. back on invitation day, Dean Hanau explained that Drexel is about a month behind because their adcom has to go through a bunch of applications for this med school program (or something) for highschoolers.

contacted drexel... interviewed in april and a decision was made on my app. from todays adcom meeting. Apparently they are mailing out the decisions on Monday.

Dated the 26th of May etc etc. I had interviewed on March 23rd, and was invited to interview way back in November. So I had to wait 4 months from my invitation to actually interview. I was disappointed with how disorganized they were in handling the applications. Sure, they get a lot of applications, but then so do other schools. Sure, they have a high school program, but so does the school I did get accepted at. I declined my waitlist position and actually wrote a little note to them about how disappointed I was in having received a reply well after the May 15th deadline. The school I did get into replied to me about 2 1/2 weeks from my interview. So, guess that's just my vent, but really.

I called the admissions office yesterday and the lady couldn't really tell me much about the waitlist...so I'm still in the dark. And I really want to come into the light (admissions waiting list speaking).

Looks like Drexel's Med website got hacked or something...when you go to www.drexelmed.edu, the site doesn't work and the title reads "DotNetNuke". Or they could just be having server problems...hmmm..

Bottom line is that I'm spending my friday night visiting drexel's site....sad...

And Kitt, no offense, but why the need to compare stats at this point? That's my pet-peeve about this site, and one of the biggest things I don't miss from college.

I remember all the "mixers" and parties first week of freshman year. The first 2 questions were always "what dorm do you live in?" and "what's your major?"

What's even funnier, is how so many people on here tout "GPA and MCAT scores are only part of the equation....extracurriculars are what's more important"....yet the only stats people list on here are GPA and MCAT. Pot meet kettle.

Wow! Interviewed in January and still haven't heard anything? That's ridiculous! I interviewed in April. Guess I should expect to hear by October or so.

Seriously, I think they finished interviewing in April and from some other posts it sounds like the AdCom is finishing up reviewing all of the applications. For better or for worse, looks like we should all be hearing something soon.

Drexel admissions is apparently low tech. It comes via snail mail.

My file went before the admission committee last Thursday 6/8 (interviewed late April after my December invitation was sent to the wrong address) and today I was told that a decision was made and would probably be mailed tomorrow. So I will be waiting by the mailbox...

Yeah. I interviewed on the 28th too and I got the same response today. WTF. I don't know what that means - they looked at my file but didn't reach a final decision - but it doesn't sound good. 🙁

They told you they hadn't reached a final decision on your file? What does that mean exactly? Waitlisted? Did you get anything in the mail from them?
