Wow, that really sucks ... They looked at your file two weeks ago and STILL haven't made a decision. They looked at waiting&waitings file on 6/8 and did make a decsion on him. I don't like the sounds of this ... 🙁 🙁 🙁

Me either, it all seems really random to me

In retrospect, getting my interview bumped up was a good idea. I got my invitation Dec 19th (didn't arrive until after Christmas), made the appointment ASAP, and the earliest was April 26th. I kept calling back over the next few weeks, and there was a spot that opened March 24.

I said it before and I'll say it again, it baffles me how Adcom viewed my file before someone who interviewed in January. I have no connections or anything.

Mid June and they are still REVIEWING applications... unbelievable.

this wouldnt happen if they stopped interviewing so many people...it says on the website that in 2004, they interviewed 1,729 applicants!?!?

Yeah, it is incredible. Jefferson (my other last hope) finished interviewing in April. Here it is mid-June and Drexel is still looking at apps. I doubt that Drexel gets more apps than Jefferson. I hope the medical school itself functions more efficiently than its admission department. Not that it matters ... I would accept an offer from Drexel in a heatbeat ...

so i called the admissions office and asked when applicants will begin to be pulled off the waitlist....her answer was "Movement will begin today and continue through to August". This doesnt seem right tho when you consider they are still considering applications. If theyre behind schedule, then theyre behind schedule, but at least be honest about it

I am on the waitlist for Drexel, too. However, I already decided to attend another school, even if Drexel calls tomorrow to offer me a spot. I have not been impressed with the school in the least.

I have not heard anythign from them ever, I'm sure they cashed my secondary check, I thought I'd atleast get a letter for the fee.

Yeah, that sucks. They should at least give you the courtesy of a letter.

Anyone heard anything from Drexel? My file was reviewed last week and I was told a letter was going out this week. Didn't get anything. Did anyone else?

i called them last week, they said the same thing...so i called them yesterday and they still havent reviewed my application yet. everytime i call they say, 'within 1 week'.

I was told that my file had been reviewed and a decision was made. The letter was supposed to go out to me this week (of course, they wouldn't tell me over the phone ...).

But I feel your pain. I got the "in a week or two" line from the admissions office for about a month before they finally go to my application. Good luck.

the best thing is that no matter how frustrated we all get with drexel's incompetence or inability to provide applicants with accurate info, the administration knows that no applicant will dare complain

I was told a decision was made on 6/8 and was mailed out last week. Still nothing in the mail and I live in Philly....it should only take one day. They are so slow!

OMG. You're in Philadelphia and didn't get the letter yet? I'm in Illinois. Guess there's no need to run to the mailbox when I get home. Good luck. Let us know when it arrives.

so apparently my application is so super awesome-cool that the admissions committee wants to see it AGAIN, for a 3rd week in a row! yeah! haha.

but i want to know what you guys think... is it a good or bad thing that my application keeps getting passed over week after week?

Have they actually looked at it twice without making a decision? I don't know what that means. Look on the bright side - they could have sent you a rejection letter after looking at it once!

They looked at mine and made a decision like a week ago. I'm still waiting to hear. Since waiting&waiting is in Philly and didn't get his letter yet, it'll probably be a few more days before mine makes it out to Illinois. 🙁 Good luck!

So has anyone actually been able to get in touch with a significant person in Admissions (not just the front desk)? Dr. Hanau was my interviewer, yet also the dean, so I felt weird at first contacting. However, after biting the bullet, I haven't heard back from either my emails or written letters, and she seems to have taken her phone off the hook. Has anyone successfully gotten ahold of her, their interviewer, or anyone else?

Just found out that I got waitlisted (made the decision on 6/8). BLAH! My friend who works there told me the class is full right now and they haven't ranked the waitlist yet (or started taking anyone off of it). I am getting very discouraged 🙁

Damn! So your friend is SURE that the class is full? I guess I should just accept that I should be getting a waitlist letter at best?

Did you receive a paper decision, waiting&waiting? I am not surprised that Drexel is full at this point! We are in June. I am sure this is going to all be straightened out by July 15th. Lets keep our fingers crossed ...

To hearing good things,
Silly Sam

I also just called a few minutes ago. There hasnt been any waitlist movement and the class is not fulled yet. They also told me that the waitlist is not rank.

I just called and talked to the guy who speaks fast and cuts you off. He said the list IS ranked, and they don't tell your position, or how to monitor your movement. He also said they just started looking at the list today. Didn't ask if the class was full or not.

All these conflicting stories make me mad more than the actual waiting. Somebody is lying, either the admissions people or people posting.

Im gonna go ahead and assume the blame is on the admissions side. they are so disorganized I wouldnt put anything past them at this point. I was told around 2 wks ago that they had began looking at the waitlist...

I got a girl who cuts me off right in the middle of my question. I remember reading on previous threads that Drexel have alot of waitlist movement; whats going oin??? there's like no movement while all the other school are going into their waitlist already.

Because 2 weeks ago Drexel was still finishing up reviewing the interviews. I thought it was a joke when people said it before, but they literally are a month to 6 weeks behind.

So the class is full and it isn't full, they're looking at the waitlist and they're not looking at the waitlist, the list is ranked and it isn't ranked. Glad we cleared all of that up!

Guys
Drexel definitely does have a tiered waitlist, although they will not disclose any information about placing.
As to whether or not they even started looking at it....debatable.
The admissions people at Drexel are human too, so inconsistencies are acceptable.
We'll just see what happens in a month ;-)
Goodluck everyone!

A few inconsistencies are pardonable.

However, from reading this board for over 3 years, Drexel by far has the most problems with their admissions office. When I went for my interview, my cousin's name was listed instead of mine (he was already at Jefferson). Multiple people called today, and everyone heard a different story. People were complaining of the same problems months ago. People also complained of the same problems years ago, which means they have never bothered to become more efficient. This isn't anything new.

A month from today is July 27th. If I'm lucky enough to get off the waitlist I hope I get notified more than a just a few days before orientation. That may be ok if you live in Philadelphia but much more of a problem for us out of staters.

I did the Drexel masters program, thus, some actually TRUE and inside information:

the waitlist IS ranked, although they do not disclose your rank -"internal" information as they put it to us; I think part of the reason is that they don't always follow the actual ranking b/c they give preference to certain applicants

the admissions office, and basically every other office there is MESSED up beyond belief. in my 23 years of life, and my parents 60, we have never experienced such inefficiency and incompetency in our lives. When I was a student, I questioned(on a daily basis) why I paid tuition; they can't even get a simple transcript request right

Basically, as you have all illustrated, the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. And I don't know about you, but for 40K, I expect A LOT more than their current attempts.

so... i STILL haven't received my post-inteview response. i interviewed on April 28th, so its been a full 2 months. i've been calling every week for the past 4 weeks and they keep telling me a decision has not been made. i'm assuming that there hasn't been any waitlist movement yet because they still seem to be making the last of the post-interview decisions. this is ridiculous, and drexel is my last hope of making it into med school this year, so my only option is to wait it out and hope for the best.

i haven't heard anything either. my int was 4/17

I think you all need to take a deep breath and relax. Drexel conducts many more interviews than other schools, so of course it is going to take some time for them to get back to you, especially if you interviewed late (march-june). I interviewed early in the year and they notified us that it would take 6-8 weeks to hear a decision, and of course it will take longer as the interview season progresses. You have a lot of people who are getting off of waitlists from other schools, and thus, the class is always changing. I hear that current students are very happy at Drexel, so I wouldn't correlate the replies of the overburdened admissions office with the caliber of the school. I mean, how would you reply if you had 50 neurotic premeds calling your admissions office EVERY day? If anything, it takes away time for them to organize everything for a speedy reply.

I don't get the vibe people are freaking out (at least I'm not); annoyed is a better word for how I feel. Plus, I never said anything derrogatory about the school in general, only the admissions office. Before I got rejected from everywhere else, Drexel was actually my first choice.

1st issue: slowness and disorganization: Now, there is no denying that Drexel is much slower and disorganized than other schools. This is indisputable. 2 weeks ago a girl who interiewed in January still hadn't heard back from them. You say it is because they grant too many interviews? Fine, I can accept that, because I understand Drex likes to get to know the whole person and be thorough, and what better place than the interview. However, if you plan on interviewing that many more applicants relative to other schools, then you should plan accordingly to have a larger and more efficient admissions department than other schools. From wat I have heard, Drex hasn't made the effort to expand their admissions dept to meet the influx of applicants.

2nd issue: conflicting stories and information: This is mutually exclusive from the long response time. It's not that hard to have everyone in the office have the same story as to when deadlines are and to know whether or not the waitlist is ranked. If I call monday and the waiting list started moving a week ago, then call back today and find out they haven't gotten to it yet, doesn't that smell a bit fishy? Are my expectations too high? Is that an unreasonable request?

Despite what other people in the field think of Drex, I like it as a school and would be happy to go there over alot of more "prestigious" places. The fact remains the admissions dept has faced the same probems for over a decade and before the merger, and still hasn't addressed them.

Does anybody know when the last interview was at Drexel? I wonder if they're finally through with the post interview response yet.

I don't think they're done with the post interview response yet cuz apparently they are still reviewing my application- its been 5 months since i interviewed and when i contacted them a few weeks ago, they said the admissions committee was still deciding. I think i may just withdrawl my application at this point.

Anyway, best of luck to everyone :luck:

Interviewed 5/1/06. Just got the waitlist letter today. I'll be withdrawing. Good luck to all.

Interviewed 4/21/06...
Wait List letter postmarked 6/29...
Will be withdrawing also...

Good luck!! There's still time! :luck:
