I have no idea exactly how the waitlist ranking works, but I know the adcom meets again on May 16th, which is when they start making phone calls. So if you haven't gotten your updates/LOI/bribery gift into the office yet, do it now!
hmm... well, you know what they say about hearsay... it's inadmissible in a court of law 😀Someone said that Richard Wallace said that we can see the waitlist on May 15th, although no one specified whether or not it was the ranked waitlist.

Do you think it's still worth sending in a LOI? I thought I read in this thread that there wasn't much point in it (because the waitlist is already ranked?). I don't really have anything phenomenal to add, maybe just a couple honor societies I got inducted into.

Ooh, I hope they let us make the phone calls again.Someone said that Richard Wallace said that we can see the waitlist on May 15th, although no one specified whether or not it was the ranked waitlist.
I know it's hard to believe, but not everyone is as awesome as you. 🙂Burnsie... come on.

well as long as we're making this thread awkward, I'll go ahead and say FCD is attractive.
I know it's hard to believe, but not everyone is as awesome as you. 🙂
Edit: So I put the 🙂 on there so you would know I wasn't being sarcastic, but now it just looks like I'm hitting on you. So, instead, I'll change it to:
I know it's hard to believe, but not everyone is as awesome as you![]()
Why not?Just for the record I am not hitting on MrBurns 👍
Why not?
psssh...technicalitiesWell... if I remember from the forums/facebook relationship status... someone has a serious bf. (someone = Burnsie)

Erm.
Burnsie, no bringing FMD to the next tequila party. We all know what happens at those!
And, on a somewhat related note, HAPPY CINCO DE CERVEZA! (and national make-out day)

... and btw, it's FCD 😍 ... or as Dookter likes to call me, simply Females 😀
actually, please do bring females to the next tequila party. <--this boi needs some ambiguous drunken action.

You weren't even there! That's all hearsay!Burnsie, no bringing FMD to the next tequila party. We all know what happens at those!
Erm. Females MIGHT Drive?
I have no excuse.
FMD is acceptable in that context then... 😀

Of course, we all knew that months ago.Duke.Of course, we all knew that months ago.
Quick question for the M1's, though, about how I go about appealing my financial aid award. It's actually pretty generous, but it's still slightly more expensive than my other options. Any thoughts on how I should go about my appeal? Like, "So, these other schools are going to be a little cheaper for me to attend... is there anything you can do for me?"
EEEEEE!!! Decision made!!! In celebration, I'm going to go make some dark chocolate brownies and procrastinate some more.
😍
Phhhwaaauugh, dark chocolate brownies. Mmmmmmmmmmmm. If they are homemade, I may require a small donation upon your arrival in Durham. I will be on OB/Gyn and will not be happy about it. *shudder* Ugh, meconium.
Ok, so I renegotiated my FA package when I came in. My parents sent a letter and I called the financial aid office a few days later to follow up on their letter and to tell them about my little bargaining chip: a full tuition scholarship to the other tobacco-road rival. I'm not sure how big of a bargaining chip it really was (since it only got me an extra $4k) but it helped a little. My grant from 2.3% to about 10%. This year it went back down to about 7% but I'm not really in the mood to argue any more since I'm well well well in the hole as it is and another $2k won't make THAT much of a difference when the chips are down.
However, upon entry to a school renegotiation is worth a shot, in any case, I think.
Yay! Looking forward to seeing you here in late July!

Tomorrow is Jell-O no bake cheesecake, Tuesday is flan, and Wednesday is pumpkin pie (but I'm not making that one). Maybe crepes later in the week. If I'm lucky, I can get my friend to make creme brulee.

I'm such an idiot. I typed up my letter of intent earlier today and then jotted a quick email to Richard Wallace.... but I forgot to attach the LOI!
doh!

😛I read on some other threads that email is OK. I'm sure you could just email good ole RW and find out. Good luck next year. Where did you end up deciding on???

I would say that the best advice I got on going to medical school was not to let cost be an important factor in picking a school. It's not like you're going to be paying off debt for the rest of your life, and education should be considered an investment. If you like Duke, you should just come and not try to leverage for more money. That makes you a whiner.
