/* hey guys,
does anyone know how many apprx ppl get called/accepted at each meeting? also does everyone get the letter indicating that they are reviewing your file?
*/
Well considering that 160 ppl matriculate each year and from what I've heard, UNC offers acceptances to twice the class size, let's see if this makes sense.
Let's assume that UNC offers ~300 acceptances.
Also assume that UNC only offers first choice acceptances (not from waitlist) to 1/3 of them = 100 ppl.
Interview season starts in Oct till March = 5 months.
They meet twice a month = 10 meetings.
So, I would assume that they call 100/10 = 10 ppl each time.
However, from what I've heard, the "cream of the crop" that they accept right away is actually less than 1/3 of the total acceptances.
So, 7~9 ppl every two weeks to be more realistic.
Most schools (unc included) use an internal ranking for waitlisted ppl. Hence, if you're on the top 1/3 ~1/2 of the waitlist, you have a good chance of getting in.
