so most schools require 2 semesters of english. I have taken a basic level english class and an "upper level writing course" at the university of michigan. The upper level writing course is not specifically an "english" course in the fact that its not in the english department but it says on my transcript that is satisfies the "upper level writing requirement" for michigan. Is this okay?

Why not copy and paste what you just wrote, modify it a little bit, and email UM directly to get the answer so that there's no doubt and you have something in writing of what they said.

Also being a umich predent, I took this question to one of the pre-health advisors earlier last semester. I was told UPLW did fulfill the "english" requirement.

umich predent here too. i noticed it says "upper level writing requirement satisfied" on my unofficial transcript, but not on my official student copy... do you think this is fine?
on AADSAS did you guys put this under "english" category

@dentaldream21 I listed it exactly as written on the unofficial transcript. Both first-year and upper-level as "english."

So after verification, my upper level writing wasn't included under English courses on AADSAS. Anybody else run into this?? :bang:

I had a similar problem, but in my case I didn't label two of my courses as English (Shakespeare and Writing Requirement).

Email each of the schools' admissions office and let them know of your situation.

They'll add it to your file and it will not affect your admission (according to one of the schools I emailed).

If you are offered for an interview, then they will talk to you about any courses you'll need to take or discuss to you about your prerequisite satisfaction.

This happened to me!

I took a writing intensive class in college and the course number was HIST 506. This class could have been taken as either a Literature or History credit. I took it as a Literature credit.

When my grades were checked during the transcript verification portion of my application, the subject designation of this course was changed from ENGLISH to NON-SCIENCE due to the HIST prefix.

I spoke with my pre-medical advisor who suggested I contact my schools individually to see if they would accept written documentation from my college that the course counted as a literature credit and was writing intensive. I have called a few and they said it would be no problem if my school just sent and email. I am emailing them all now to figure out if they want verification immediately or only if I get an interview.

Hope this helps!
