When did everyone hear about USF? I still haven’t heard back from them 😅
I heard back from them on January 20th. My girlfriend applied as well and she has not heard back from them either. I think that is a good sign. Good Luck!

Just found out this morning that I was waitlisted. They don’t give you any info on where you’re at on the waitlist. Did you have to put a deposit down to hold your spot?

It’s a little stressful considering we could hear back as late as August…I got accepted to UCF which starts in May. USF would be my first choice just cause I already live in Tampa. Good luck to your girlfriend! If anyone has any info on the waitlist at USF pls help a girl out!

USF didn’t ask me for a deposit. I imagine there will be some people holding spots who will give them up when they hear from other schools like UF and UCF. I’m currently waitlisted at UCF and would maybe choose UCF over USF, so maybe you and I will switch lol

Damn too bad we can’t arrange that switch ourselves, I’ll email Jeremy😂

My girlfriend just found out she was waitlisted as well. Looks like she has to play the wait and see game. Good Luck

Anyone else hear back from Nova Ft. Lauderdale, or FAMU? I got waitlisted at Nova yesterday and haven't heard a thing from FAMU

I was accepted to Nova Ft. Lauderdale on 12/7, and I was accepted to FAMU in late September

Edit: I applied in mid August. I’ve heard FAMU is notorious for bad communication, but they got back to me soon after I applied

Okay thank you! Yeah FAMU hasn't replied at all and I don't know when to expect a response from them. I applied Mid October

Anyone who got an acceptance at nova ft. lauderdale plan on attending? Or did anyone who got accepted declined nova's offer?

I was accepted and declined the offer. I believe there was someone in this thread who will be attending but you may have to scroll back a while. Unless that was you lol

Hi there.., I wanted to know if anyone has applied to Nova in Tampa or has any insight on their program. I have an interview with them next month.
Hey! What day/time is your interview w Nova? I am also interviewing on Feb 11 at 1130

Anyone heard back from UF yet?
I was accepted yesterday. I know a few others who were accepted sooner at different times, so they seem to be sending out acceptances as they decide (or as other students decline the offer) instead of all at once

Congrats! I am still waiting to hear. Are you going to accept?

Thank you! I’m not sure yet. I’m deciding between UF and USF, and I’m still waiting to see if I’ll be pulled off the waitlist at UCF. I’m between those 3 and honestly have no clue which is my top at this point

What are your top choices?

Congratulations! I was also accepted there a couple of weeks ago. Is there a specific reason as why you choose nova?
I went to their virtual open house and really liked the program and the professors that I met. I am also from Fort Lauderdale and location was a big factor for me as well. Are you committing to nova?

Hi guys. Anyone completed an interview for Florida Southern College and if so how was the process like/when did you receive an admissions decision?

Hey all,
I'm new to this forum so forgive me for being late to the party.
Graduated UNF with an undergrad in Exercise Science.
GPA: 3.49 Pre-Req GPA: 3.80 and GRE: 315

So far I've been
-accepted into: FIU, ST. Aug
-waitlisted at: UCF and USF
-waiting to hear from: UF and FGCU

Mainly, I wanted to pick your brains about two things:
1.) Firstly, @Slimbuktu, out of sheer curiosity why don't you like FGCU? It's my first school of choice and I was just wondering why you don't fancy it?
and
2.) Do you think if I haven't heard from FGCU by now, that I can just assume I'm not being considered?

Thanks in advance.

Has anyone heard back from FIU?
Interviewed in December and was offered a spot the same day. However, it was considered a "rolling admission" offer. So if you applied during their normal deadline, you can probably expect to hear back in the near future.

1. FGCU was my top choice at one point because of the enticing price tag, but at my interview I couldn’t shake the feeling that it didn’t seem like the right fit for me. I just didn’t enjoy the faculty or the process as much as I wanted to. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a great fit for you or someone else! I’ll do my best to explain what I didn’t like:

I was a bit peeved by some of the questions they asked. I understand they’re interviewing us and anything they want to ask is fair game, but I have mad beef with those situational questions like “what would you do if your patient ran out of insurance, but you thought they still needed treatment?”. Like what? Aren’t you supposed to teach me that in school? I don’t like those questions, and not just because they can be tough to answer. What are you going to learn about me or my potential fit in your program or my competence as a prospective student from how I answer that? I got a lot of questions like that from FGCU and that bugged me

Also the group thing they had us do where we were supposed to decide together how the water in our apartment broke and what we should do about it seemed like an utterly useless and poorly thought out activity. It felt like an exercise for 7 year olds and it gave me kind of an amateurish vibe, but maybe I’m just being a dick

So then when I got home I was looking around online trying to see if anyone else had a funny feeling about FGCU. I found 2 separate reviews/comments from recent FGCU DPT grads who seemed less than pleased with the program. They’re on SDN if you want to read them. Search FGCU DPT review, and I believe the other is a comment on FGCU vs UCF DPT. I couldn’t find any negative reviews about the other schools I’m considering, but of course that doesn’t mean there aren’t negative opinions about those programs. I imagine there are a few people in every program that aren’t happy with it. And I’d be cautious about letting a negative review or 2 alter my decision too much, but still the comments were hard to ignore

Then at an interview for a different program there was a current DPT student there who told me his decision came down to 2 schools, and FGCU was one of them. Ultimately he decided against FGCU because he also heard some negative things about it. I believe he said that he knew a student there who didn’t like the program or something. But the main thing I remember him saying was that FGCU has a high faculty turnover rate, which is at least mildly disconcerting

So all of those things together made me too hesitant about FGCU to be willing to go there unless it was my only option among the main public schools in Florida. But that certainly doesn’t mean it’s a bad program or a bad fit for everybody! I don’t want to steer you away from FGCU. It was really just a personal feeling that I wouldn’t like it there because I didn’t click with the faculty in the same way that I did at other interviews. But that could easily be foolish intuition. I respect that they at least have an interview process, unlike a few schools I’m still deciding between (which is one reason I’m having so much trouble deciding)

2. Your stats are really good so I imagine you interviewed with FGCU right? If you did then I wouldn’t count it out because lots of students will be changing schools and giving up seats in the next few weeks. I myself am still undecided about where I’ll be going. But if you didn’t interview then it may be too late for FGCU. When I got the call that I was accepted I believe the director said they were about to complete their final round of interviews, and that was mid January

Firstly,
I just want to thank you for taking the time to thoroughly explain your thoughts and feelings all for "random some dude on the internet".
It really means a lot.

I certainly agree with your stance on the interview questions; they seemed either irrelevant, or as your said, "amateur-ish".
I too have read the negative reviews about them and they're concerning. I always thought the faculty-turnover rate was high because of the low salaries they likely pay. I imagine with how cheap FGCU's DPT tuition is, their staff's pay is likely on the lower end.
Although, whatever the reason is, it's not a good sign. (like you said)

I did interview with them in December, and I actually called them today.
They said they were sending out their waitlist tomorrow and will go from there.

Before reading what you had to say, FGCU was unquestionably my top choice, but I'm very glad to have heard someone else's perspective. I'll be keeping those things in mind going forward.

Thanks again and good luck with UCF's waitlist!!

Awesome, congratulations! Do you remember what month you submitted your application?

Question: Has anyone else NOT heard back from FGCU yet?
Still waiting to hear something since my interview.

Thanks in advance.

How did your interview go? Have you heard anything back from admissions yet?
Hey! Mine went super well. I haven't heard back yet but they told us we would hear tomorrow Friday the 18th through email if we got in. I think if you're on the waitlist or declined they send you a letter through mail and not an email. How was yours?

Hey! I felt mine went well too. Well wish you Good Luck and hope we get that acceptance email tomorrow! Let me know what happens

Hey! I'm a current student at FGCU. While what the negative review said isn't wrong, the program isn't all that bad and I would pick FGCU again if I had the option. If you have any questions about the program feel free to ask, I don't get on here much but I'll try to check back.

Hey, thanks for reaching out.
I know you don't benefit directly from helping "some dude on the internet", so your help means a lot.

I was hoping you could briefly touch on the professionalism of FGCU's DPT program. I've been in contact with them many times regarding my application, and every time we communicate, it seems like they're kinda all over the place. Does this hold true for their professors, advisors, and higher staff?

Also, when I interviewed with FGCU, they advertised their community involvement, intramural sports, and program activities. Do you find that there are often activities, sports, involvement...etc that the program has? or were they just showing occasional highlights from previous years?

Thanks in advance!

Did everyone receive the update for UCF's waitlist?
If not, it said the following:

As our program continues to move through this year's admissions cycle, we wanted to provide an update regarding where we are in the process. We have extended offers to candidates for all 38 seats, and are currently waiting to confirm the last three seats. We have extended offers through approximately half of the 1st Tier in the wait list, and will continue to make offers until all 38 seats have been filled. We know this is a stressful process, and thank you for your continued interest in the University of Central Florida Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, and for your patience during this time.

Yeah I got that too. When I was told I’m on the first tier waitlist it seemed like almost a sure bet to get in, now I’m pretty convinced I’m not gonna get in. I guess I’m in the bottom half of the first tier waitlist

sorry to hear that.
Does that mean you're still deciding between UF and USF?
