Not Mac. Chrome book. It does make a number of mistakes but still saves time. I’m thinking of investing in Dragon now that I’ve had a taste of dictation!

I’m so looking forward to the weekend after 40+ sessions this week. Found a recipe for low carb Pad Thai that I’m going to try. TGIF!

Forty sessions plus is crazy town! You deserve a break. And yeah, even with correcting the occasional typo, I will never go back to hand typing my notes.

Making gumbo this weekend and also shopping for a new iPhone. I'm trying to decide whether the extra camera features on the 13 are worth the money. Most of me says no.

Happy Friday! Celebrating big time...just awarded Assistant Professor at my AMC.

Does anyone know what distinguishes you between Assistant Clinical Professor vs. Assistant Professor on the clinician/educator track? (I'm sure it's in our handbook, but looking for some anecdotal insight.)

I don't use the Dancing Banana often, but when I do... it's for something big. :banana:

Congrats!!

From what I recall (N=2 faculty jobs), there were some slight differences btw Assistant Clinical Prof & Assistant Prof...though they were largely before the clinical/educator track were a thing at AMCs. The clinical/educator track seemed to be more popular around 2015 and forward. IIRC, unless you were specifically recruited for a tenure track position, ppl would start at Assistant Clinical Prof., which was above visiting or adjunct prof., but slightly different than the Assistant / Associate / Full grouping of titles most know from a tenure track. In more recent years I've seen the split more to do w. Tenure Track v. Non-Tenure Track...with the clinical/educator track developed to provide a path of advancement for those faculty who weren't on a tenure track, but they still contributed significantly to the Uni/AMC through teaching/supervising/admin'ing.

It's definitely worth reading through your handbook because there still might be some slightly different benefit options. IIRC, there were a few added or enhanced benefits for Assistant compared to Clinical Assistant, but that will obviously be very institution dependant. Either way....go forth and celebrate your advancement!!

Getting treated to a celebratory dinner for getting accepted into a program. And of course, being able to work out and wind down will be nice.

Been getting into college hoops tournaments this week. My team (go Minutemen!) is still in then A-10 tourney, but not much chance of going any further. Got some Troegs Perpetual IPA and some Rothaus Tannen Zapfle to enjoy during the games. Have to give a 3.5 hour zoom lecture tomorrow morning on task analysis/chaining. Going to Hockey East playoff game tomorrow evening (again- go Minutemen!). I hope your teams do well this weekend (as long as your team isn't Dayton or Providence College!)
 
Dinner with an odd assortment of friends. An attorney sent a literal truckload of work. Some professional writing.

Aaaand apparently answering a trans friend’s pragmatic questions after having “bottom surgery”. Not enough liquor in the world.

This morning was cold and miserable...then the dog pooped all over the dining room floor. I've had better weekends.

I'm doing CEs all day. Gotta love CE4Less... At least I have reason to sit around and read all day.

Last night my wife went into the laundry room and it was quite stinky. Some really gross water was on the floor. Earlier I had noticed our kitchen sink was draining slowly, too. The washer discharge appears to be draining slowly too and that's what caused the gross water to flow up, but no other drains in the house are slow. The joys of home ownership.

We put a call out with the local handy man. But, I decided just to call a normal plumber. Our handy man is great for most things, but our house was built in the 50s and I kind of want a specialist to check it out after thinking about it. Plumbing isn't the handy man's forte - even he will tell you that. But he is very perfectionistic and really nice (the last plumbing issue took him like a month to figure out 100%).

Now the wife is unhappy with me for having to cancel the handy man. He asked why. I told her to say I cleaned a trap and things seem to be better now (only a partial lie, I did clean a trap - but it didn't do anything). The wife is all worried that our handy man will drive by and see a plumber. She's worried about hurting his feelings (my wife is the most conscientious person ever). This could wind up being a Seinfeld episode.

I have some wood rot on an out building from when our house was a meth lab or something that needs fixing - I'm sure the handy man can handle that. But, I'll text him to come by tomorrow.

Sorry for boring you with my suburban waxing.

Been there with the home ownership issues. Good luck with the water. I really need a good handy man. Been doing too much by myself or relying on family when I need to delegate some stuff.
 
Just closed on a lot to build our forever home. Pristine 4 acres bordering a national forest with incredible views. Paid a pretty penny but lucky to have gotten it in this market. Construction costs are ridiculous right now so it will be a couple years before breaking ground but will have it paid off by then. A nice milestone to celebrate this weekend.

Just back from bi-annual backpacking trip with spouse. Typical late winter/early spring in Northern New England- hike in on Wednesday in 4 inches of slushy snow, hiked out/back in to restock on Friday on solid ice (I've never been more appreciative of the slip on boot- spikes and poles), and hiked out today in 4 inches of mud. Road out from trailhead lot to town road was closed yesterday due to 6-10 inch ruts and mud, with our car being only vehicle still there. One mile of slipping and sliding downhill on river of mud, being pulled side to side in huge ruts. Catching up on highlights of the old state U winning Hockey East tourney, and now hoping that I'm watching coach K's last game.

This just brought back so many memories... including watching Katahdin basically melt out in four days so we skied in and hiked out in our plastic mountaineering boots lol. I love the NE so much

I'm a west coaster, but just learned how to pronounce Katahdin today because of podcast I listen too.
 
Done for the week! Big tournaments to watch. It's warm out (50-60's) so setting up the TV on the deck, having a fire, enjoying so libation and watching UMass-Minnesota hockey game. Might grill something good to go with it. There's probably a good basketball game or two to watch as well. I'm getting close to caught up on reports and grading too, so only a little of that to do. Might even get to tie some flies for bass and trout.
