I am posting this thread because over the years the applicant pools have become more and more competitive. I would like to know if anyone with 3.3 g.p.a. and below got accepted to dental school and what their stats were. I got my undergrad gpa of 3.2 & beginning my Masters soon, just want a little hope.

Hope, there is. Believe, you must.

I know quite few people who got accepted with low gpa, but their DAT score was like 23AA.

idk if you guys are forgettig that schools are required to take people in with low gpas and dat scores as well. say NYU the average of acceptance is a 20, it means they take people above that average on the DAT and below that score. if the average is a 3.4 gpa they take above and below. schools are required to take academically disadvantaged students or they lose their federal funding. schools take certain groups for acceptance. for example, say someone who has a 3.8gpa and a 23DAT and someone who has a 3.4 gpa and a 20 or 19 DAT. they took the person with lower scores because they like the personality better. but schools take certain groups like (high DAT/GPA scores/ lower gpa/dat scores/ the disadvantaged students, etc.

Now this brings me hope  No I really need to score well on the DAT. Man I just wish I am a lucky guesser and score high!

My friend had a DAT of 20 and gpa below 3.2, he still got into dental school.. multiple acceptances too! He did barely any volunteering and shadowed 2 dentists. Did 0 EC's. Got last minute LOR's.

He applied to just 3 schools and got into 2 of them. LOL

probably not a wise decision, though.

How in the world does that happen? Do you know what schools he applied to? I don't care what school, I just want to get into dental school. Sucks being pretty desperate 🙁

Anybody got any interviews yet with these stats for this cycle

i have several...though my most recent 60+ credits are 3.8...and i have 21s.

but i may be exceptional in the sense that i was deep into something else before doing this. if you're fresh out of undergrad with our stats you probably need the boost of a masters.

Feneezy,

What was your prior career? Did you quit to take pre-reqs, etc..? You're 33/34, right?

😎

What was your prior career?

i was a corporate mouthpiece 😀

Did you quit to take pre-reqs, etc..?

nope. pre-reqs were wrapped up before W finished his first year in office. i did return to take a load of upper levels to show schools i had talent and i only chose to squander it in my youth.

You're 33/34, right?

look, it's not in my nature to be mysterious, but i can't talk about it and i can't talk about why.

Hmm...I haven't studied the stats in detail, but are D-school admissions actually getting more competitive? I'd mostly be wondering about GPA trends, since I recall DAT trends being fairly level. I'm sure there's a thread here somewhere. To the search box I go...

I got an interview yay at Tufts Dental School in Boston. 3.2 GPA 20AA 21TS 22PAT with only 1 interview so far.

You guys are making me feel better, I have a 3.44 right now with 20 AA 20 TS and 23PAT, If I can make all A's again it will be a 3.5+. I will be applying in may to at least 10 schools my science GPA is a 3.25-.3 range so I hope this doesn't have an impact
