I am taking a gap year this coming year and applying for entry to med school for 2018.
My stats for now (I still have one more semester):
  • cumulative GPA: 3.48
  • science GPA: 3.42 (I have gotten all A's for the past two semester though, if that makes a difference)
  • MCAT: 516 (CARS: 128/129)
  • EC:
  • -research at two universities over the years
  • -one publication, another in the process of publication
  • -founded a club on campus
  • -executive board of another club
  • -shadowing intermittently
  • -volunteered for small amounts intermittently
Thoughts on if I should do a post-bacc program during my gap year or focus more on volunteering, which is what my application lacks more of? Or other options? Not sure if an upwards trend in grades is good to get me out of doing a post-bacc program

You have one more semester left?
If you take 36 more credits and have all As you will end with a 3.6 overall which is fairly good with your MCAT
Maybe you could postpone your graduation to summer with a minor or retaking classes.

As for the GAP year I would do more clinical volunteering
