question:

vessel is found to contain...
8 mol of NO
2 mol of N2
4 mol of O2

N2 + O2 = 2NO

find value of Keq
---------------------------------------------
this is how I solve it but it's wrong according to the ans key

4^2/(2*4) = 2

ans said --> 8 is the ans
cuz
NO = 4
N = 1
O = 2

Isn't N2 still considered 1 mol although it has 2 atoms

CONFUSED!!!

Keq = [NO]^2 / [N2][O2] = 8^2 / (2 x 4) = 64 / 8 = 8

The way you worked it out was close, but you have to square 8 in the numerator, not 4. The concentration of the products go on top, and [NO] is 8.

that's what I thought at first but then it said the vessel contains 8 mol of NO and the equation shows 2NO, 8/2 = 4. that's why I used 4 for the calc. :confused:

I SHOULD HAVE POSTED MY QUESTION ON THE DAT FORUM. PLEASE MOVE ME, THX!
