find a research job, be an EMT, teach for America (I think this is 2 years?)haha thanks..
but JUST IN CASE, i want ya'll to know I'm going to be asking each one of you how your experience was.
haha : P
also, do you guys have any advice what I should do as a recent college graduate that can't afford to go back to school and still wants to be a doctor?
Be a medical technologist for a year? Move to Washington DC to be a homeless person spreading the good news of Jesus? ( the later was a serious thought.. at least, while studying for the MCAT retake)
From my past knowledge, the committee will call the west coast people 1st because they have to make travel arrangements to get to the east coast.
Again, good luck!
Btw, don't worry about the "tests" especially if you just took the mcat!
anyone know how many students they will be taking this year?
For those of you who are interviewing April 20, 2009, where do you plan on staying??
I would like a hotel very close to campus to ensure I arrive on time Monday morning....
I hear we should receive information about Hotels and info for Interview day but havent received anything yet...
this is madness!! the closer you try to stay (in a hotel) to the university, the more outrageous the prices become. anyone find any decent under $100 per night hotels? id like to make a reservation as early as possible in hopes that the rates will be lower
"$290 per night you say? Thats it? Just put it on my med school tab."
I'm hoping the student package has a D.C. hotel for under $80 otherwise I'll stick with the $89 one in VA.
is this the one you guys are referring to? http://www.hotels.com/property.do?searchMtmPropertySupplierId=&pointName=DCA%2C+Ronald+Reagan+National+Airport%2C+Washington+DC%2C+District+of+Columbia%2C+US&propertyIdsToCompareString=&COMonth=5&PSRC=OT2&TSRC=1&numrooms=1&maxPrice=100&searchType=point&selected=rte&usertypedcity=DCA%2C+Ronald+Reagan+National+Airport%2C+Washington+DC%2C+District+of+Columbia%2C+US&vd=&queryId=0600E31E33AC102644122454090095&allPropertyTypesSelected=true&paging=1&CODay=5&COYear=2009&lat=38.852413&lon=-77.0373&searchID=AC102644-3529-1912-08B2-C2371E907699&acDestinationType=3&CIYear=2009&mtnHotelID=305249&roomOccupancyString=1||1|0|0&CIDay=2&s=1&sortBy=PROXIMITY&CIMonth=5
im thinking of booking a room here
Do you guys know if there are any W, Westin, or Sheraton near the point of interview? I'm planning to get there on Saturday and stay until Tuesday.
btw, will we be interviewed at the medical school or at another location?
Not sure, but I'm really nervous, as I suck at interviews.
me too bro. I stutter and mumble when I get nervous. lol. i think i'm going to load up on coffee before i go in.
lol, i suggest you go with no caffeine as it will only make your stuttering and mumbling much worse. you interview on the 4th right? maybe we will bump into each other 🙂
if yesterday was an indicator, calls for more interviews should be made at around this time...
However, if yesterday was the last day, I guess i'll see ya'll maybe next year ? : P
Not gonna front, I'm very nervous myself but I think it helps if you think of yourself as already accepted. So at this point you're not trying to prove anything, just assuring them that you are their choice. This has always helped me.
That's true... I didn't think I would get this far. I have to show them that they made the right choice by calling me.
i agree, im still wondering how much the tests have to do with our acceptance. is it true there's an essay to write as well?
The Hilton in Alrington, VA is 9 minutes away from the school.
$140/night
Anyone interviewing 4/20 wana share a room??😛 ($70/piece)

I appear to be the only other person in this thread interviewing on the 20th... that does seem like quite a deal though.

Hey guys,
For those of ya'll that already graduated college ( I am graduating this May)
Can I ask what ya'll did right out of college?
I'm not really experienced ( just volunteered in molecular lab) and have a lower gpa.
Any suggestions of what I should do?

Rags, build a solid resume and apply for temp jobs in the pharmaceutical industry which dont require much experience and apply broadly. For example, I started out as an associate scientist making $17/hr about a week out of school which is not great but decent for a freshly minted bachelors. There are tons of temp pharma jobs, especially in this unstable economy where many perm jobs are fading, so apply to as many as you can. The point is getting enough experience as a temp (1-2 years) and then applying for higher level, well paying jobs.
I'm wearing a charcoal pinstriped suit. Macy's is running INCREDILE deals on suits. I got a Michael Kors for $180.
silver metallic with a gold shirt and platinum tie..o yea, got my bling bling too!! gold grill with the chain to match YEYA!!
