Here's my impression of georgetown:
Excellent environment. House staff is happy.Great comraderie among house staff. Dedicated attendings. Fantastic program director. Medical center is now turning a profit and not losing money. Very dynamic constantly improving. Ample opportunity for research if interested. Georgetown Hospital is not the newest structure but has been kept up to date, new and efficient computer system. Also rotates through Virginia Hospital Center, Washington Hospital Center, and Washington VA. Virginia Hospital Center is a brand new hospital with reportedly excellent facilities. Georgetown is not hopkins, but residents tend to place well in fellowships. Patient demographics might tend to be older caucasian people, some people have noted that a more diverse disease and patient population would have been better. Washington is a fun place to live although it can be expensive like all major cities.
Overall: All around solid program, probably very under-rated due to financial stability issues in the past which have all been resolved. Some would say that George Washington is the better game in town.
Hope that helps.
