Many people who contributed to this thread mainly posted thier personal experiences in thier schools. As you can see, there are many factors when it comes wether you should try to aim for 4.0 or not.
Do not have a set mind about wether it is hard or easy to get 4.0 in college because each person goes to a different difficuluty-level instituition and has unique learn styles that may be an advantage for a particular course.
When you enter college, consider to following points when a new semestar starts....
Who should I take this course from? Remember, it depends on who teaches the course. Some teachers are easy. Some teachers are hard. Talk to upperclassmen about your concerns or go to ratemyprofessors.com
Limit the number of sciences to 2. A general advice is that not to take more than 2 science courses in the same semester. Do not take Bio, Chem and Physics at the same time. Prereqs are important. But you don't have to take all of them at once to get overwelmed.
When your classes Start, figure out the following things in the first 2 weeks-1 month.
how much time do I need to keep with this particular course. This will help you to do the time management every week.
what's the best study strategies for me in this course? Flasf cards ? Study groups? Find the one that fits you. Just because it works fo somebody, the particular study method might no work fog you.
be wary of final exam. They are ccmprehensive and cover a lot of stuff. Start to study early early early!!!
