A 4.0 is rare because most people are not all that smart. It's the nature of the bell curve. Those who are smart enough often are not all that dedicated.
And lol @ my awesomeness being so unbelievable for you.
Someone ban this troll, so your such hot **** and these are your real stats?
"Need some advice. All my info is in, but I haven't paid to begin the verification process yet.
I have a 4.0 science and 3.43 overall GPA. I have a good upward trend. I repeated about 10 classes from many years ago and got As in all of them. MCAT 26M (V11, P7, B8). I have a liberal arts degree, good work experience, and about 800 hours of volunteer work."
I am a graduating senior and had a 4.0 GPA up until last fall semester. As someone mentioned earlier, it does take some luck and getting the right professors. In some classes I know I had an easier prof and some a harder one, but last fall, I got one of the hardest and combined with med school apps/interviews I couldn't pull off the A.
It's very difficult to maintain a 4.0 as well as participating in time consuming EC's. The best advice, I think, is to work your hardest but make sure you have a well-rounded app. Having solid EC's that provide you with quality experience and a 3.89 GPA is better than having poor EC's with a 4.0.
Still wonder why I found your story so unbelievable?Need some advice. All my info is in, but I haven't paid to begin the verification process yet.

I would like to go to TUCOM-CA. What are my chances this late in the game? My MCAT is weak, but I never reviewed or took a single practice test, so I think I could improve this area significantly if I waited out another year. I understand it's late in the application cycle anyway. If not at TUCOM-CA, would I have a good shot at other schools? Or should I just wait until next year?
JustAGuy said:I'm a little worried about this myself. I've never really had to study for anything. I couldn't even force myself to study for the mcat. I'm worried I won't be able to force myself to study in med school and then not do well. But then on the other hand, I think of all the Caribbean students with crap GPA and MCATs who make it, so it can't be all that difficult, right?
