Now I know I don't have rock-star step 1 scores like the rest of my fellow sdnr's but I am pretty stoked about my 234/98 and I don't think there's any way I could have done it without Goljan. I started out with a free shelf exam score equivalent step 1 of 200 so I was pretty bummed at first. I studied about 5 weeks total and used ONLY FA and Goljan Rapid Review path, lectures, and hi-yield notes. As soon as I used Goljan my scores started jumping on qbank and nbme's. Seriously, I think if I would have finished all his notes I could have gone way higher but in the end, I ran out of time. I think half the test questions came straight out of his lectures. So here's a toast to *the* man. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Slightly below average student(me) at slightly below average school + Goljan audio and RRbook and FA = 240...I know its not supergunnertastic, but im really really happy.

Thanks Ed Goljan!

seriously though, if you haven't taken the test yet, read his ****.

all his stuff wouldn't make sense until you get to path, right ?

definitely not. A few things might in the early chapters because he will integrate some physiology but when he starts talking about the pathophysiology and a little pathopharmacology, then you might get a little confused. Once he hits systems based, you won't be learning much

You're way off... way off...

Seriously....if I ever meet Goljan some day, I am going to buy that man a drink!

his lectures were not bad. i can't say they helped me at all though. i thought his book was better.

I really liked his lectures. I know for a fact that one question about nasal polyps I got specifically because of his lectures, and would not of gotten that information elsewhere.

My Step I study buddies and I used the Goljan audio lectures throughout second year, and they were unbelievable for clarifying concepts and helping to make the onslaught of information seem manageable. We also used his Biochem book (in addition to myriad other books of course) during Step I studying, and when the dust cleared all four of us scored over 240, with at least two of us over 255! For any soon-to-be second years I would highly recommend using the Goljan audio lectures during second year; it'll help!

Congratulations to all of the INCREDIBLE scores that I have seen on this website, you guys rock.

Where do you get his notes? I ordered his Rapid REview Book and I thought maybe his notes along with reading the book would be great for Step 1. Let me know guys. I appreciate it.

Sorry if I'm confused but wasn't he just asking where you can buy it? Or is it something you can't buy...

His book, Rapid Review of Pathology, is copyrighted and available. I thought it was a great Step 1 source.

I understand that and was not asking someone to distrubite it to me for free. I am also not aware of your status here at SDN. If you are a moderator, I do not mean to cause problems. If you are just a member, that you for being the forum police.

You are correct. I am looking to see where I can buy them. I am going into my second year and I want to be prepared for Step 1.

his book has everything his notes has and much much more. don't bother with those crappy notes.

Beyond Goljan's Stars & Rapid Review series, there are no other legal copies of his notes. So please refrain from violating the SDN terms of service requesting the bootleg copies which are out there.

And for reference, the Rapid Review series is almost identical to the notes he distributes to his students.

Why don't you just buy his actual book--Rapid Review Pathology, 2nd Edition, Edward F. Goljan. It's like $35--not much considering everything else you'll end up buying for boards prep and even just to sign up to take the test costs hundreds of dollars. You can purhcase it on amazon.com or elsevier online. It has color pictures that are great. And I imagine that the quality of the print is obviously better than the copyrighted notes circulating on the web or elsewhere. I didn't read his book cover-to-cover by any means since I did not have enough time to do so. But nonetheless his book was a great reference source, had good illustrations and charts, and "high yield" points in the columns.

His lectures are soooooo good but sooooo dense! I was only able to finish 12 of them. Still, based on those alone, I can think of at least 6-7 questions I got right just from that. Imagine if I finished all 37... 😀

I did in fact buy his book. I did not know this was gonna catch me so much flak for wanting another source.
