Has any1 gotten rejected after getting an interview and completing the interview? Is the worst thing that can happen being put on waitlist after going through an interview?
Depending on the school you can find out if you're more likely to get in if you were granted an interview. Most schools post up statistics of how many were given interviews and among those people how many were accepted.

I think a majority of schools will wait-list everyone without giving them a straight-up rejection.
It's a feel-good rejection for those who never get the call.
Not really. For example: LECOM. I know 4 students who are in school were called from waiting list. One of them was called a week before school started. Therefore, waiting list is not bad at all
Horrible logic, using a biased sample.
X% of all Observed As are Bs.
Therefore X% of all As are Bs
One school (LECOM) out of ~115, and 4 students out of ~100+ per matriculating year? Worst of all, you actually present this as if it's a conclusion (therefore???).
I have only seen red Mustangs. Therefore, all Mustangs are red.
And you're going to be a Pharmacist.
Oh my.
It was just an example. Im sure he didnt mean to generalize it. I dont understand why people on here get so defensive and attack other peoples comments. If anything, I would be worried if you were gonna be a pharmacist for your lack of tolerance. Please remove the stick from your ass. Thanks.

I'm with you all the way here. No need for people to be so condescending to people they don't know.
And that generalization was made in response to another guess/generalization, namely that people get waitlisted as a form of "feel-good rejection"
Nobody got up in arms about that one 🙂
I feel your frustration with the poor use of logic, p4sci.
I also can't stand when people use general statistics to apply to an individual. ie: Nova interviews 400 and accepts 200, therefore you have a 50% chance to get in. If you have a 4.0, 99 pcat, and perfect interview skills, your chances are considerably higher, aren't they? It's like when people tell you that you have X% chance of getting in a car accident. X% of people on the road get in car accidents every day, but this has nothing to do with you, individually. Good drivers have a much smaller chance of getting in an accident.
There's my vent for the day. Peace be with you all.

Fair enough. You hold your potential peers to a very high level and I'm not one to challenge that. There are less abrasive ways to get your point across, but if you enjoy belittling people I'm sure they have a thick enough skin to deal with it. I don't think we should delve into the question of how subjective the statement "waitlist list is not bad at all" is. It is quite different than what you interpreted (waiting list does not mean anything) though.

Keep in mind that while you consider yourself a good driver, it's common for people who are bad at something to think they're good at something. I forget what the exact term is, but if the "sucky" individual receives training, they will admit that they used to be bad at the task. Who knows, maybe that's another psychological quirk which invalidates the study, heh... but plenty of people think they're competent at something when they're not. But again, keep that in mind when you think statistics don't apply to you because you're "good" at something when you have little supporting evidence. 😉
"Feeling sparing" and political correctness is representative of damn near everything that's wrong with America right now.
Of many things I miss about the armed forces, I really, really miss the "don't beat around the bush" mentality is right up there.
Civilians demand to be babied, eat their pills sugar-coated and be *****-footed around to such an extent it makes me sick.
So what if his feelings got hurt? He needs a thicker damn skin if that's the case, because the real world's a scary place. It's pathetic that such horrible uses of "logic" exist and aren't corrected immediately. The onus is on no one but us to improve one another.
I can picture it now.
Patient: "I know you told me to take X medication for X weeks, but I felt better after a few days so I stopped using it. Now I feel all funny 🙁"
Passion4Sci: "You &*%#!@* idiot"
😉

Except that you could be the safest driver in the world and still be no match for the 28 year old doctor's wife in the H3 who dropped her cell phone.
BTW, that wasn't an arguing point, just a funny thought that occurred to me. I feel like I need to put disclaimers in my posts now, or else I end up offending everyone. I think Ill head back to the lounge where I won't have to care about that.
When has anecdotal evidence not been accurate. My second cousin has a friend who has a roomate whos neighbor got into medical school with 0.8 GPA. So anyone with a 0.8 GPA is eligible right?Horrible logic, using a biased sample.

Probably... For better or for worse, I suppose. I am slowly adjusting to dealing with civilians, though.
http://www.theangrypharmacist.com/ <--- me in 5 years.
If you keep worrying about it, it is more likely that you will get rejected.
Man, I read an amazing study in my senior year at Davis published by Dr. Emmons on this subject, I can't find it in JSTOR =-/
Do you act like this in real life too? Or just on the internet behind the mask of anonymity. I'm not trying to be rude, just curious.
Just to clarify an earlier post: I wasn't saying all who are wait-listed never get in. I was trying to say that some schools leave people on the waitlist until classes matriculate.
If you're high up on the WL, good luck. If you're way on the bottom, it's a feel-good rejection. They never rejected you outright. You got WL'ed. 😉
lol good one, it's trueHow? The admissions committee doesn't know what he's thinking or how much he worries about this stuff![]()
