Thanks for the response!
These are my science classes.
BIO 122 C+ BIO 124 B- BIO 126 B ANAT 101 C+ (B retaken) ANAT 102 B ANAT 103 A- CHEM 101 B CHEM 102 C+ CHEM 103 B+ PHYSICS 101 B (taken at a semester school).
I'm planning on retaking BIO 122 and BIO 102, but should I retake some other courses as well? (for example ANAT 102 as anatomy is the most important course for PT school).

ah.. listing down the grades for science courses really saddens me. I feel like I'm a lost cause.

My gpas are pretty low, but I guess other areas in my application(essays/recommendations) let me into schools thus far! gpa matters for sure, but it's not everything!
Here are my updated stats below.

Has anyone heard from Idaho State?
They didn't let people know last year until middle to end of February. I called at the beginning of January to check on my transcripts, and they told me that they had just started looking at applications and that it would still be awhile before they knew. Which campus are you trying to get into?

The Pocatello one. I saw that forum too about mid February but that was because they were having issues. Usually I get updates on Tuesday about my application but I didn’t get one this week. Is there a PT program at the meridian campus? I can’t find much information if there is or not.

Overall, I think your application looks very good. I think being an international student is a positive and helps you stand out. So does your military and Red Cross service (as well as possibly providing you with a unique essay). You have plenty of hours but I agree with others that diversifying a little would help (even if it's only a few hours).

As for your grades, the Cs are the only ones you should worry about and it looks like you have already retaken arguably the most important one (Anat). I'd probably go the route of taking an upper level course rather than retaking the entry level one. You run the risk of validating the first grade on a retake. Schools generally allow multiple courses to fulfill a prereq and you get to choose the course on your PTCAS application. I'd look in the PTCAS directory at some of the schools for which you are interested and check their allowable courses for the Bio requirements. Then, find an upper level course at Drexel that fits the requirement. Finally, make sure you do well in it! :) Good luck!

That's true, I am just going to assume late February, but if i hear anything sooner, I will let you know. I haven't been getting updates about my application, so I am not sure what to tell you about that. They are suppose to have a class starting in Meridian this Fall, they are in the process of building right now. When I asked about it, they said they were doing a class, but they weren't sure how they were going to handle the application process. Probably if you are accepted, you choose which campus you want to go to.

Hey yall,

When I first checked this thread back in November 2017, while applying to PT programs, I was absolutely horrified. After reading post after post of people getting into DPT programs with 3.6-3.9 GPAs, I almost gave up in the middle of my applications. It was very demoralizing but I am glad to have stuck with my decision to keep applying. I want to share my experience with others who may have similar GPAs to mine and have seriously doubted their "chances" to get in. This was my first time applying to PT school and I was absolutely shocked by the results. If you have a low GPA but PT is really your dream, don't give up without at least trying it once.

College: Rochester
Major: Publich Health
Overall GPA: 3.19
Pre-Req GPA:3.31
GRE: 156 Q, 156 V, 4.5 AW

Extra-Curric: Varsity athlete in 2 different sports during undergrad.

Observation: Volunteer at hospital (inpatient) for the 2 years, volunteered at 2 different outpatient PT settings. Total Hours: Inpatient + Outpatient: ~700

References: 3 physical therapists, 1 professor. (I obtained a reference letter from the supervisor of PT rehab at the hospital I volunteered at. I believed it helped my application a lot.)

Applied: Due to my low GPA, I applied to as many programs (22) as I could. To name a few: LIU, Mercy, Stony Brook, CSI, NYMC, NYIT, Sage, West Coast, Widener, Temple, Alvernia, Nova, Augusta, Campbell, Murphy Deming, Concordia, Arkansas, Washington University, etc.

Interviews: Augusta University (accepted), Mercy College: (accepted), Stony Brook (accepted), Campbell University (declined)

Hi everybody! I am currently a junior, so I'll be applying for PT school this summer. I'm hoping to receive some feedback about my credentials and what I could do to improve them. The main reason for my concern is because I think my pre-req GPA is low. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them. Additionally, if anyone knows how my application my look to some of the specific schools I listed that would be very appreciated.

Your gpas and especially your GRE scores are good enough to get you into good schools. You just have to really show your true/unique motivations in your essays and have letters of rec from people who really like you and trust that you'll make a good PT.
I'm sitting on two acceptances, a few waitlists, and more schools to respond back to me so far.
My gpas were 3.18 cum, 3.25 pre reqs, and 154Q/152V/4W.
You've got the grade. Now you have to really show your unique qualities to tell them why they should choose you over other folks who have similar/higher gpa/gre through your essays and letter of recs. This is where your relations with your letters of rec providers become very important.
I recommend having back up schools that have lower GPA average though. Most of that is listed in PTCAS program directory.
Also, finish you senior year strong. Don't slack.
Good luck!

Hi! I'm applying to next years cycle of PTCAS. I'm taking this year to work as a rehab aide and study/take my GREs. I have similar stats as you and Franklin Pierce (NH) is one of the top schools I'm interested in. Since you already received an acceptance to this school, do you have any advice on applying there? Thanks for any help.

Hello

I was told by my Marymount u interview that my personal statement was really good. It really depends on what kinda prompt you get to best fit your personality and experiences you can write, but make sure you write down your true passion and motivation to be a PT. I have a lot of passion to become one even if I have zero experience consulting a PT for personal injuries/needs. And it’s not like I’m really good at writing nor have the best vocab to woo the readers but I overflowed the essay with all of me and what I could add to the program and the profession should I be admitted.

I also knew all of my letters of rec providers really well and I think it’s important that they really like you and trust that you will make a PT.

Especially since both my gpa and my GRE scores aren’t at all that competitive, I can only imagine that I’ve gotten acceptances and waitlists through my essays and letters of rec.

I also e-submitted with necessary/sufficient materials sent to schools and ptcas as of mid July, and the cycle opens beginning of July or late June. Every admin folks of schools will tell you to APPLY EARLY. I think that also has helped me.

Best of luck!

Let me know if you have any more questions.
