I am starting to hear back from some of my schools, and I wanted to share my stats, as I have benefited from hearing from others in the past! I actually didn't decide I wanted to do PT until midway through my Junior year, so I can offer sound advice for any late starters!

So since you have to let wingate know if you’re accepting their offer within 30 days I think it is, but you still want to see if you got into other schools who you might not have heard from yet, how do you plan to go about that? That’s the thing if I get into wingate since they don’t have interviews, other schools will most likely take a lot longer to get back to me and I don’t want to deny their offer (if I get one) and then not get into any of the other schools I’ve applied to! I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately haha

Wingate gave me until January 15th to submit my deposit, but if you choose to submit a deposit before hearing back from other schools it will not hurt your chances to get into another program (I emailed all the schools I applied to and asked). Then the only risk at that point is losing your deposit if you change your mind.

After studying with a tutor, I got V 154, Q 156.
I was a horrible standardized test taker as well.

I took an online course through the Princeton Review which I would definitely recommend. Probably cheaper than getting a private tutor. The Princeton review one was cheaper than Kaplan. I've heard McGoosh is good. The course I took met online with an instructor who shows you how to approach question types and what not. There are also less expensive options where you do the course on your own time with pre recorded lectures. But this bumped up my quant score by 7 points and verbal by 5.

If it were me, I would accept and pay the fee. You can always drop out later, but you wont get your money back.

What Happens Next

Sharing Admission Decisions
Programs will notify applicants directly regarding all admission decisions. Any PTCAS program that offers you acceptance will have access to the number of acceptance offers you have received from other programs and the number of other offers you accepted. Programs will not know the total number of programs you applied to, nor admissions decisions other than acceptance made by other programs at that time. A program that has placed an applicant on a wait-list will not have access to that applicant's admission status at other institutions. After the completion of the 2018–19 admissions cycle in fall 2019, programs then will be able to view applicants' other selected programs and the final admission decision reported by each.​

This is a long game that plays out until about May of next year. You can accept an offer and then rescind it later if you change your mind. It is considered bad form to accept multiple offers and sit on them. At some point, schools can threaten to withdraw their offer if they see that you have accepted more than one offer and haven't made up your mind, which is why most schools require a deposit in January. Even then, some people are still holding out for their number one school and are willing to forfeit their deposit. It makes admissions directors crazy, because they are trying to finalize their cohort and people are still getting offers from other schools. This is why people get pulled off the wait list at the last minute.

I recommend that you accept the offer and wait. [The only caveat is that if you were accepted under Early Decision, then you should have only applied to one school and you shouldn't accept unless you are 100% committed.]

Every school asks different questions. Are you interviewing at Midwestern?

There were 12 students interviewing the same day and time as me. Every student got a different set of questions. All the questions were straightforward. Nothing out of the ordinary. They definitely asked why I wanted to purse PT, why the career change, what skills do I think is important to have in PT, compare and contrast the different PT settings that I observed.

A few weeks prior to my interview, I did a lot of research. I searched on this forum, along with google for common DPT interview questions. This book also helped me out a lot: Amazon product ASIN 0692059547

I have an interview at St. Augustine Austin on November 2nd! What was the interview/questions like?

Laid back. They give you refreshments in the morning and lunch. Meet faculty and student led campus tours. It’s a group interview in groups of 2-3 where you each take turns answering just general questions about you. They are essentially trying to get to know you as a person. You got an invite cause your academics fit their program now they just want to make sure that you as a person matches what they look for and give you a chance to see if you’ll fit in.

What Happens Next

Sharing Admission Decisions
Programs will notify applicants directly regarding all admission decisions. Any PTCAS program that offers you acceptance will have access to the number of acceptance offers you have received from other programs and the number of other offers you accepted. Programs will not know the total number of programs you applied to, nor admissions decisions other than acceptance made by other programs at that time. A program that has placed an applicant on a wait-list will not have access to that applicant's admission status at other institutions. After the completion of the 2018–19 admissions cycle in fall 2019, programs then will be able to view applicants' other selected programs and the final admission decision reported by each.​

This is a long game that plays out until about May of next year. You can accept an offer and then rescind it later if you change your mind. It is considered bad form to accept multiple offers and sit on them. At some point, schools can threaten to withdraw their offer if they see that you have accepted more than one offer and haven't made up your mind, which is why most schools require a deposit in January. Even then, some people are still holding out for their number one school and are willing to forfeit their deposit. It makes admissions directors crazy, because they are trying to finalize their cohort and people are still getting offers from other schools. This is why people get pulled off the wait list at the last minute.

I recommend that you accept the offer and wait. [The only caveat is that if you were accepted under Early Decision, then you should have only applied to one school and you shouldn't accept unless you are 100% committed.]

Hi everyone! I graduate/ finish my pre-reqs in about a year and a half and will begin applying to PT programs. However, I need some advice about observation hours. I have already completed some shadowing hours; however, I was offered an opportunity to be an RBT (registered behavior technician) at a school for disabled children. I have always had my mind set on earning hours as a rehab technician to make my application more competitive.... Should I take the RBT route or will PT schools rather see rehab tech hours?
