I'm posting this on here, because while I'm excited that I got into a school, I also could tell from the interview that Tech would not be a good fit, and I'm a bit worried of not getting into any other schools. While I am from Texas, I have family that lives in New Hampshire, and it would be a dream come true to go to Franklin Pierce, but I won't hear from them until February. I'm also worried that I haven't heard from Wingate given that they have rolling admissions. That school is also one of my top choices.

This is my second time applying to PT school. I hope this will help those who do not have spectacular GPAs. My big mistake from last year was applying without meeting most schools' GPA and GRE minimum.

Haha I didn't. I just figured by this time I've been rejected. I've lost hope on them because I think I saw somewhere on there website they do interviews in November.
I don't think anyone has heard from them yet from what I've seen so there's still hope!

Congrats!! When did Stony reach out to you for the interview in January?

Would you mind looking at my stats?

Sure, I'm no expert though. I think your GPAs look on the low side of average, depending on the schools. Pre-req is definitely on the lower side of average (although both of your GPAs are better than mine). Observation hours are good but you could try doing some more in different settings. You should definitely retake your GRE to increase your chances because a lot of schools throw your application out if you don't meet minimums, but it looks like you are retaking.

Your application was verified 6 days after submitting?
Yes, it was. I was really surprised too. I believe it was because I sent my transcripts back in July and my reference letters were completed before October.

Undergrad: University of Delaware
Major: Double Major: Sociology and Criminal Justice
Cumulative GPA: 3.38
Pre-Req GPA: For PTCAS I have a 3.35, however if the school takes the better of the two grades I will have a 4.0 🙂
I retook every pre-req this past year and got an A in very class. I am currently taking Physics I w/ lab and I currently have an A in both. Next semester I will take Physics II w/ lab and I am confident I will be able to get A's in them as well.
GRE: V:147, Q:148, W:4.0 (I know these scores are absolutely awful and I will retake them should I not be accepted to any schools)

Extra Curricular: Member of rock climbing club, outing club, Alpha Kappa Delta. Studied abroad in Australia my senior year. Currently volunteering at a horseback riding facility for individuals with special needs. CPR certified. I am also a nontraditional student because I have been out of school and working for over 7 years. I'm hoping "real life experience" will be a plus.

Observation: 173 hours (hospital, pediatrics, out patient) I'm hoping to earn more in the next few months

Submitted PTCAS: 9/28

Verified on PTCAS: 10/22

Applied: Bellarmine, Belmont, Chatham, Drexel, Nova Southeastern, Rutgers (both), Stockton, U. of Central Florida, U. of Delaware, U. of Maryland (Baltimore), U. of New England, U. of South Florida (I'm hoping to apply to a few more schools. I am currently working on each of their own personal essay questions)

Interviews:
UNE

Accepted: N/A

Rejected: N/A

If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Has anyone heard from any of the other schools I have applied to? I am extremely nervous because I have yet to hear from any other schools aside from email confirmations that they are currently reviewing my application. Belmont did inform me that their current interview date is full and they will review my application again in December. I know my GRE scores are horrific but I'm hoping my strengths in other areas will help.

Thanks so much and GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!
My PTCAS application was verified on 9/22, but I have still not heard from Bellarmine. Rumor at the virtual fair was they send invitations for an interview held once a month until March. Good Luck!

I've posted a few times around here but never bothered to post my stats so I suppose I'll finally do that! Good luck to everyone!

Applied: UNMC, DMU, UNLV, Creighton, UW-Madison, UW-La Crosse

Interviews: Creighton (10/30)

Acceptances: :xf:

I applied to UNMC and recently received an interview offer. I was curious if you did as well and if you know anything about the process?!

I still haven't received any calls or e-mails regarding interviews (other schools that I applied to do not have interviews) and I'm kinda losing hope since my GPA and GRE scores are not amazing... just want to hear back even rejections so I know where I stand.

Undergrad overall GPA: 3.37 (not including this semester's GPA)
GRE scores: 153V/150Q/4.5AW (the best scores from 2 exams)

I applied to NYU, Drexel, Duke, Boston U, Wash U (MO), Sac State (CA), and University of the Pacific (CA).

Drexel and Wash U have rolling admissions and I submitted on 9/21 and my app was verified on 10/16.

Seeing a lot of interviews and acceptances to NYU makes me think I don't have a chance anymore. Does anyone know if these schools also have interviews in the spring or do they only do it in November?

I know that NYU has interviews in January and February as well. One girl at the interview who is a current student told me she didn't find out until right before the semester began.

I've decided to apply to Alvernia instead of Neumann. Anyone else apply to Alvernia?
Yeah I applied to Alvernia, but I don't know a whole lot about the program. Since they don't have rolling admissions I'm guessing we won't hear anything back till after the February deadline

1) solicit as much advice on your essays as you can.

In the past two years, I've had each of my essays undergo four of five reviews from faculty, former admission committee members, English majors, PTs, and current PT students. I feel pretty good about them. However, they could appeal a bit more to each school's unique strengths. This year, I may have sacrificed quality and content due to the high volume of schools that I am applying to (not to mention, I'm working and traveling for three on-going studies with my lab :bang:)

2) same with interviews. When you get an interview invite, practice like crazy and only practice with "mean" people

I have only participated in one interview in the past (George Fox) because none of the WA state schools conduct interviews. However, I did go through some mock interviews with former PT and med school admission committee members, as well as some friends who work at hospitals and conduct interviews. After anticipating every possible question, I feel like my responses were too rehearsed and lacked that genuine interpersonal charm that we all are trying to achieve as clinicians. It also didn't help that GFU did not follow a conventional interview format.

I will definitely try to be on top of interviews this time around if I'm lucky enough to be offered invitations.

3)If the essay isn't it, I'm worried there may be one reference that is recommending you with reservation. I would solicit all new references for this next round if you can.

I'm confident in my reference choices and how they have rated me. I made the mistake of requesting an endorsement from a rather busy PT clinic director who had his intern provide her personal input (and bias) to inform his reference letter. Since then, I've explicitly asked each of my potential references if they are confident that they can score my qualities at the highest ratings and can confidently speak to my abilities as a future PT. I've provided my CV and previous personal statements in order to provide some insight to my reviewers. And I have had phone conferences and 1 on 1 meetings with each individuals in order to strategically highlight all of my strengths from various perspectives to which each endorser can support. I did choose to include a different physical therapist this time around. I'm hoping her opinion carries more weight due to her research contributions.

This year, my reference profile includes
-Academic (former advisor/professor) served on committees for med schools and PT schools
-Supervisor (lab director at my current workplace, former biomechanics professor, well-known in the gait community)
-PT (UW faculty member, researcher, pediatric physical therapist, currently assisting on a grant)
-PT (outpatient clinician, general orthopedics)

I tailored my selection based on what was recommended to me from UW.

I appreciate all of your input.:highfive:
