UPDATE!

I applied to all 7 schools for the 2015-2016 application cycle. Starting working as an aide in an outpatient ortho clinic and retook a biology class in the fall to turn a C+ into an A. Was rejected at Azusa Pacific (in October) and Loma Linda (last week).

Just received email today that I am offered a spot on CSULB's waitlist. Still waiting to hear back from other 4, but have accepted spot on waitlist. Will post a formal update with updated GPA/GRE/other stats soon.

UPDATE!!!

I interviewed and was accepted to the University of St. Augustine in San Marcos for their summer term (starting May 5)! I still haven't received an email, but at the recommendation of another student who was accepted for their Fall term, I checked the USA application portal and clicked on "admissions decision" - hope that tip helps someone who is currently waiting to hear back from USA. Also, it seems my application was "lost" or something, because I didn't hear back from them until I called them like 4 weeks ago, then about 3 weeks ago they offered me an interview, and I logged into the website and found out that I was accepted this morning. I do not yet know how long I have to submit a decision and deposit for USA, but if I do not hear from Long Beach or Chapman before my deadline, I will accept USA's offer very gratefully!

Potentially other helpful info for some people: I am still on the waitlist for Cal State Long Beach; I have not heard anything from Chapman University or Western University for Health Sciences. I know I have not yet been denied, but have not been granted waitlist or interview as of yet. I was denied at Azusa Pacific, Loma Linda, and San Diego State.

Congratulations to everyone who was accepted and good luck to those still waiting to hear back!!!:woot:

Its interesting to compare your stats to mine, your GPA etc is much stronger.. My GRE just a bit.. But I applied to a lot of the same schools- UM, ISU, and NAU and got different results. I got flat out rejected from NAU and UM but accepted to ISU.
NAU wrote in an email that my app wasn't considered because of my undergrad GPA being less than a 3.7. Talking on the phone with UM I got some really good feedback about things I could do and was told I am 'close' to getting an interview. Specifically I should retake the pre-reqs that I got Bs in. I'm going to accept my spot at ISU rather than jump through the hoops to reapply at UM but I am from Montana so I was hoping for a spot there.

Does anyone know if you can get instate tuition in Florida after the first year?

Gotcha! If I had the money I would haha. I live in southern California and although I would love to go check out the campus and meet everyone, I got to save some money. I'm not too familiar with Washington or the Tacoma area so i'm going to have to do some research and start looking for a place to live as August nears. I like what I've read about UPS's program though and the area/school look beautiful from the pictures I've seen haha.
So I learned quite a bit about UPS at the tour and reception last Thursday. The campus is absolutely tiny (you can walk from one end to the other in less than 5 mins), but very nice with beautiful brick buildings and trees. The PT building is fairly new and very nice, with an on site clinic that the students work in as part of their curriculum, which I thought was good hands-on experience. The faculty seemed very well liked, especially the Anat/Phys teacher. The only thing I learned that I didn't like was that the students don't get to dissect the cadavers as part of the normal curriculum. Because they're a small campus they only have 3 each year, and a small hand picked group of second years are chosen to dissect them. The first years just look at the dissected cadavers. The students made it sound like it wasn't a big deal though.

I found out today that I got into UW, and I think if the campuses were next door and cost the same amount, I would choose UPS. However the difference in tuition and my SO's job in Seattle is making me choose UW. I think UPS is a very good program overall though.

As for housing, the students said that generally it's a good idea to avoid southern Tacoma (although the cheap housing may be tempting), and generally stick to the North End or University District.

I heard that UW doesn't dissect the cadavers either. The med students do and the PT students get to look at the cadavers afterwards.

Thanks!!! I was actually going to message you about it so I appreciate you getting back to me! Yea, I actually just found out I got into CSULB but am sticking with UPS because I want the new experience living in Washington. Thanks for the info. They connected me with some first year students there in regards to my questions and they've been helpful. They are going to make a facebook group so I'll probably connect with some of my future classmates there and possible new roommates to share a place with. Congrats on the U of W acceptance!

I'll be attending UNMC in the fall! My heart was hoping for Miami but there's no guarantee I'd come off the wait list and it's about 2x the cost of UNMC. I'm currently accepted to Northwestern but will be giving up my seat in that program.

I just heard today that I was accepted to CSULB off of the waitlist, and now I'm torn! I was planning to attend Fresno State, and I don't know much about CSULB's program (I didn't go to the open house). Fresno is closer to home and cheaper (especially in regards to living expenses), but I'm wondering if CSULB is looked upon more favorably with employers. Does anyone have any insights?

Update!!

Waitlists: Mercer University, Rockburst University

ACCEPTANCE!!! :soexcited::soexcited:-- University of Nebraska Medical Center (at Omaha Campus)

I am so so excited and honestly cannot believe that I got into this program. From being on a waitlist just to interview there, having a last minute phone call just two days before the interview telling me a spot opened for an interview, to a waitlist for the program and finally getting into the program, I am shocked at how this has all turned out. For those on waitlists, don't be discouraged. I honestly had thought that there was no way I was getting in this cycle, and yet here I am making plans and looking to a future in this amazing field. Stay positive, the hard work does truly pay off in the end!!

So I've always looked over this thread to see the different stats and which schools everyone has heard from so far and have finally decided to post my stats:

University: Truman State University
Major: Exercise Science
Minors: Spanish, Psychology, Biology
Overall GPA: 3.47
Pre-req GPA: 3.24
GRE: V-155, Q-150, AW-4.5

Extra Curriculars: Anatomy TA for 1.5 years, involved in Exercise Science Research for 1 year, Physical Therapy Technician at an outpatient orthopedic clinic for almost 1 year, Pre-PT/OT Club President for 1 year, active member in a service sorority for 2.5 years (was the fundraising chair for the local YMCA)

Shadowing: countless work hours for my tech job at outpatient orthopedic, 20 hospital hours, 14 SNF hours, and 11 school pediatric hours

Applied: Regis University, University of Iowa, Des Moines University, University of Nebraska Medical Center, AT Still University, Mercer University, Elon University, Rockhurst University, East Tennessee State University

Interviews: Rockhurst University, Mercer University
Waitlists for Interviews: UNMC, Regis University (they said they've had over 1,400 applicants this cycle), Elon University
Waitlists for Programs: Rockhurst

Rejections: NONE
Acceptances: NONE

--Bummed about Rockhurst but they weren't my first choice, getting ready for my interview at Mercer, but curious if anyone has heard from DMU or University of Iowa? All I've heard from them is when they first received my application and nothing since. Also, haven't had any outright rejections from anyone which is positive, but tired of seeing the word "waitlist" in all my emails +pissed+. Also AT Still said I probably won't be hearing from them until the new year, but that all the interview spots are currently filled --

Congrats for the acceptance!!
CSULB is far superior to Fresno. Look at their first time passing rate for the board exam; Fresno's passing rate is 75%, while CSULB is 100%.
CSULB is the better choice for the long run.

Actually, Fresno's overall passing rate is 94%, it's their first time passing rate that is 75%. And at the interview, the department chair explained to us that that 75% represents the scores from the last few classes of their MPT program. The curriculum for the MPT, while similar in regards to the current core curriculum, did not have a significant amount of instruction in regards to differential diagnosis and other aspects that are found in DPT programs. However, the NPTE was testing on these topics, which is why the first time passing rate was low and brought a sense of urgency to convert Fresno's MPT program to a DPT program (it was one of the last schools in the state to not change to a DPT). Now, with their first DPT graduating class only a year ago, the class of 2015's first time passing rate was somewhere around 86% if I remember correctly. While this number is still somewhat low in comparison to other schools that have had a longer DPT program, for a new program that's a pretty good number. They've learned a great deal since then (as the Class of 2015 first started in 2012).

Been a bit of a lurker, but I figured I might as well post my never ending struggle to get to a PT program to give me some solace. 2nd year applying to PTCAS, and I will probably go for a 3rd round. Been retaking courses for the past 3 years (and 4.0-ing most of them) and essentially rewriting my whole undergrad transcript. I applied everywhere, but my Cumulative GPA and my GRE are holding me back a lot.

GRE: 149V, 156Q, 4.0W

Extra-Curric: Volunteered @ CSHRB at U Washington (Center for the Study of Health and Risk Behaviors) for about a year

Applied: AT Still, Alabama State, CSU Fresno, CSU Sacramento, Eastern WA Uni, Howard U, Nova Southeastern Ft. Lauderdale, NSU Tampa hybrid, Pacific Uni, Touro U Nevada, UNLV, U Washington, UW LaCrosse,West Coast Uni, Western Uni of Health Sci

Interviews: CSU Fresno, NSU Tampa

Rejections: Everywhere but Touro U Nevada and NSU Tampa; still waiting on Alabama State and Howard which will get back to applicants in the next month

Waitlisted: Touro U Nevada

Acceptances: Nova Southeastern Tampa Hybrid (withdrew after discussing program with a currently enrolled student. That and a number of other factors caused me to withdraw)

It's a bummer to already be in the mindset to apply for a third year, but I already have it planned out with my projected stats and everything. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised though, because I'm still waiting on Alabama State and Howard. The interview @ Fresno gave me enough motivation to keep pushing though because in-state CSU programs are my top choices. If anyone else is worried about low GPA and needs more reassurance, it is possible; this year confirmed it for me.

As far as I can tell, they've been accepting small waves of people every couple weeks since December. I think they're slowly going down their waiting list as people decline their offer, and by the end of March they will let us know if we've been waitlisted or declined.

UPDATE: ACCEPTANCE!!!!!!!!!!!

I GOT IN TO UPS!!! 4 years of applying...such an emotional roller coaster. My master's degree payed off. I cannot believe it.
Did you get your Masters online or in a traditional classroom and at which school?

Did you get your Masters online or in a traditional classroom and at which school?

It was a traditional master's degree in health sciences from Montana State University (it was only 1 year though which was incredibly nice). I have to say though that I don't believe the majority of schools actually cared that I furthered my education to show my dedication and prepare myself for physical therapy school, which is very unfortunate. However, the reason why I said that it payed off is because if you have multiple degrees, UPS will use the latest degree's GPA as the "GPA qualifier". Again not many schools do this though, or even really care (though they should).

Richmond is talking about FIRST TIME pass rates. CSULB's first time pass rate has been 100% for the last two years. So, very impressive, even for an established program.

anyone have any good/bad opinions on Touro?
I heard only good things until recently i came across a post that bashed the program and said they fail a lot of students..this is making me nervous ...

Congrats! You jumped over a lot of hurdles to make that happen!

Does anyone know if you can get instate tuition in Florida after the first year?
I do not think you can. But this may not be true for all schools. I went to the DPT open house at UF and someone asked that question. The financial adviser said "no, you are either in-state all three years or out of state all three years".

I feel like UF either straight up declined some applicants or they got accepted and a seat. I think UF probably made a massive wait list and are still waiting for final decisions to be made so they are playing it safe. What does everyone else think?
I haven't heard a word from UF and I submitted my application pretty early on. Not sure what the date was specifically, but I was thinking the same as you.

I think it may be with all Florida schools. I spoke with admissions at USF and they told me the same thing. It's pretty unfortunate.

Yes you can as long as you follow the procedures to do so. I think you need to register your vehicle in FL and get aFL license plate, and do some other stuff with mailing address and claiming yourself as independent I'm pretty sure. I would ask whatever school your planning to attend there and they can give you more information. You definitely can though, you just have to follow some steps. Just make sure you do it asap because exactly 12 months after you complete the steps, you'll be considered a FL resident.

That's what someone had asked at UF's open house and because it is an advanced degree (or whatever the reason was I'm not 100%) they said that does not work. Typically yes, those would be the steps to follow though.

Hi all! I finally heard back from my last school so I figured I would post all of my information on here. I've spent a ton of time digging up random information on this forum and maybe can help someone in the future in respects to stats and program decisions. Despite my lower GRE scores and low number of observation hours I came into this whole process fairly optimistic. I've had some ups and downs. I'll say it was pretty harsh getting waitlisted at FIVE schools and getting rejected by two. But I have been lucky enough to get accepted into two programs. As of now I will be attending George Fox University this fall! I'm very excited. If EWU or Pacific were to pull my off their waitlist I would have a tough choice to make though. After this whole process I have a lot of respect for people who manage to reapply after one cycle and refuse to give up. This whole process has been a roller-coaster. I wish you all the best of luck!

Wait-listed: Eastern Washington (1/28), Puget Sound (2/3) – sounds like they are over-enrolled so I’m guessing that’s a rejection, Regis (2/5), Idaho State (2/18), Pacific University (3/3) - tier 3
