Do schools pay attention to the breakdown of GPA by course area? Or do they only look at your Cumm/Prereq gpa? I got an F and a C in a course my first semester of undergrad in applied anat & psych so Im assuming thats why my natural science GPA is a 2.94...

My prereq gpa is a 3.8 and my cumm is a 3.37 but Im freaking out. I didn't realize they broke down your gpa into sections

I didnt realize schools did that.... you might want to contact the school and ask them if they will look at GPA like that. They might however look and see that you did get an F and a C in a course so there is that even though your cumulative GPA is okay.

So I can finally post in here since I have finally been accepted and will be attending a program in the spring!

I’m just posting this for those with low GPAs like mine. It’s very possible to get acceptances. I suggest re taking pre reqs with C grades and get As in any pre reqs you have left to complete. Also get great letters of rec and write an outstanding personal statement. It was very disheartening to get so many denials and I initially thought Samuel Merritt was my number one choice school, but that changed after seeing University of St. Augustine. Also I had refused to take the GRE and only applied to programs that didn’t require the exam. After so many denials, I decided to just take the test and see what happens. My score wasn’t great but it allowed me to apply to USA, without the exam I wouldn’t have been able to apply and that is the program I will be attending! Keep going, don’t give up, it all works out the way it’s supposed to in the end!!

Very relaxed. They do group interviews. First they go over many things about the school and the program and then they split everyone up into groups, one half goes to the interviews and the other half takes a tour and then you switch once you finish. After the tour they served lunch. The interview questions were all easy enough to answer things like why do you want to attend this school, why OT, tell about experiences you had volunteering and what setting you want to practice in and why, how do you handle stress, basic interview questions. Good luck!

Thank you so much for posting this. My GRE score is still low after taking it 3 times. I scheduled to take it again because I really want to have more options for schools I am applying to. I really dislike the GRE :( I’m so bad with standardized tests.

There are options to apply to schools that dont require the test. I know it's hard but I got into 2 schools with a score of 301. I know it's about average. I would make sure the other areas of your application is strong like you have alot of volunteer hours and really good letter of recs. Check with schools to see if there is a "minimum" GRE requirement, usually schools do want a 300 total. But you can check with them if they would basically throw away your application if you have anything less than that. Its a valid question. Hope this helps!!!

You can always apply to schools that don’t require the test, or you can take GRE prep courses to boost your score. I had a friend that did and her score went up a lot. I would check and see what the minimum GRE test scores are at the schools you want to apply to, and definitely apply to programs that don’t require it

Honestly just apply and see what happens, it’s a great way to get interview experience and experience applying. If you’re not accepted you can ask each school what you need to improve on and then work on that. You may end up getting in somewhere on your first try, you never know until you try! I had a low GPA like you and got in my first try, stay positive!

We have very similar stats. Wishing you the best of luck. I am also worried as well. But i’m hoping my personal statement and my letters really help me as well. I’m so nervous.

Hi everyone! I had a question about the personal statement on otcas. Should it be doubled spaced and should we include our name at the top?

Hi everyone! I had a question about the personal statement on otcas. Should it be doubled spaced and should we include our name at the top?

I double spaced mine, but I’m used to doing everything in APA, so it’s just habit. I think it’s just personal preference. I don’t think putting your name on it is necessary since it’s just one of many pages in your application when it gets sent through to the programs. Also, some schools have a maximum word count for the essay, and I just wouldn’t want them accidentally counting my name as an extra two words.

Don't worry! I know many people who have gotten in a program with a 3.0. You have great extracurricular activities, and I would recommend to use this to your advantage and discuss this during your interviews.

Your stats are really good. And you have observed in multiple settings, so I wouldn’t overthink that too much. I would suggest applying to more schools if you can though!

We

Stats are really not as important as people make it seem. ATSU made it clear that they mark points based on personal statement strength and LOR strength. Just make sure your grade trend is going uphill. They called me out on my terrible sophomore year and praised me on how I finished undergrad.

My app was verified 9/7/18, probably sent my secondary the same day and heard back for an interview on 10/3/18.
